Effect of dithiocarbamate thiram on Wistar rat growth plate and articular cartilage

Avaliou-se o efeito do tirame, ditiocarbamato largamente utilizado na agricultura como antifúngico e repelente de roedores, na ossificação endocondral de mamíferos, usando, como modelo, ratos Wistar. Não foram observadas lesões na cartilagem articular, nem nas placas de crescimento, o que pode ser atribuído à dose utilizada e à duração do ensaio. A diminuição da altura da placa de crescimento nos animais aos quais foi administrado o tirame parece traduzir o atraso verificado no crescimento em geral, e não um efeito específico na cartilagem, uma vez que as diferentes zonas da placa epifisária mantiveram as proporções dos animais do grupo-controle. Embora não tenham sido verificados, no presente trabalho, os efeitos registrados para outras espécies nos tecidos cartilaginosos, sugere-se a avaliação dos efeitos crónicos do tirame no crescimento e no desenvolvimento dos ossos longos em mamíferos

Photovoltaic solar energy in brazil and the contribution of Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN)

Photovoltaic solar energy is presented as a promising source for Brazil, considering that most of the Brazilian territory is located near the equator, which implies days with the highest number of hours of sunlight. The participation of this energy source in the Brazilian energy matrix corresponds to only 0.01% of installed capacity. Important actions are being made to increase this participation: R & D programs of electric utilities, regulation of distributed microgeneration and minigeneration, energy auctions of the Federal Government and publication of technical standards by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT). This paper presents the initiatives for the implementation of photovoltaic solar energy in Brazil, the prospects for its consolidation as a source of energy, and the contribution of the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN) for this scenario. The analysis of the economic and financial viability of photovoltaic solar plant installed at the Rectory of IFRN and the consequent reduction of expenses with electricity are also presented.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Pilot, Rollout and Monte Carlo Tree Search Methods for Job Shop Scheduling

Greedy heuristics may be attuned by looking ahead for each possible choice, in an approach called the rollout or Pilot method. These methods may be seen as meta-heuristics that can enhance (any) heuristic solution, by repetitively modifying a master solution: similarly to what is done in game tree search, better choices are identified using lookahead, based on solutions obtained by repeatedly using a greedy heuristic. This paper first illustrates how the Pilot method improves upon some simple well known dispatch heuristics for the job-shop scheduling problem. The Pilot method is then shown to be a special case of the more recent Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) methods: Unlike the Pilot method, MCTS methods use random completion of partial solutions to identify promising branches of the tree. The Pilot method and a simple version of MCTS, using the $\varepsilon$-greedy exploration paradigms, are then compared within the same framework, consisting of 300 scheduling problems of varying sizes with fixed-budget of rollouts.
