Les confiscacions de béns als austriacistes de Dénia. Una primera aproximació.

Lopez Camps, Joaquin Enrique - [email protected] caiguda de Dénia en mans de les tropes borbòniques el novembre de 1708 va afavorir el desplegament d'un procés de confiscació dels béns dels austriacistes de la ciutat amb el qual es pretenia incrementar els ingressos de la Corona i compensar la fidelitat dels borbònics valencians. No obstant, la despoblació quasi completa de la ciutat i la paralització de les activitats econòmiques va dificultar extraordinàriament aquest procés. L'article analitza quantitativa i qualitativament el procés confiscatori a Dénia i mostra les dificultats que la política de segrest dels béns dels austriacistes va tenir en el conjunt del País Valencià

Los pacientes hipertensos frente a los irrigadores de bicarbonato usados en profilaxis dental

Se lleva a cabo un ensayo clínico en un grupo de 45 pacientes hipertensos, seleccionados entre los pacientes de un gabinete odonto-estomatológico a fin de intentar determinar si la utilización de irrigadores de bicarbonato y la consiguiente sobrecarga de sodio, absorbido a través de la mucosa bucal y del surco gingival, son capaces de originar aumentos significativos de la presión arterial en los pacientes. De los resultados obtenidos podemos afirmar que la absorción del sodio proyectado por los irrigadores no es capaz de traducirse en alteraciones significativas de la presión arterial de los pacientes y que las modificaciones que se aprecian en la misma durante el tratamiento serían mayormente consecuencia del stress que originamos al paciente. Comparamos nuestros resultados con los de un estudio anterior llevado a cabo en pacientes no hipertensos, viendo que no es posible establecer diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre el comportamiento de los dos grupos de pacientes

Holographic entanglement entropy for perturbative higher-curvature gravities

The holographic entanglement entropy functional for higher-curvature gravities involves a weighted sum whose evaluation, beyond quadratic order, requires a complicated theory-dependent splitting of the Riemann tensor components. Using the splittings of general relativity one can obtain unambiguous formulas perturbatively valid for general higher-curvature gravities. Within this setup, we perform a novel rewriting of the functional which gets rid of the weighted sum. The formula is particularly neat for general cubic and quartic theories, and we use it to explicitly evaluate the corresponding functionals. In the case of Lovelock theories, we find that the anomaly term can be written in terms of the exponential of a differential operator. We also show that order-n densities involving nR Riemann tensors (combined with n − nR Ricci’s) give rise to terms with up to 2nR − 2 extrinsic curvatures. In particular, densities built from arbitrary Ricci curvatures combined with zero or one Riemann tensors have no anomaly term in their functionals. Finally, we apply our results for cubic gravities to the evaluation of universal terms coming from various symmetric regions in general dimensions. A CubeSAT payload for in-situ monitoring of pentacene degradation due to atomic oxygen etching in LEO

This paper reports and discusses the design and ground tests of a CubeSat payload which allows to measure, in-situ and in real time, the degradation of a polymer of electronic interest due to atomic oxygen etching in LEO. It provides real-time information on how the degradation occurs, eliminating the need to work with samples recovered once the mission has finished. The polymer, TIPS-Pentacene, is deposited on the surface of a microelectromechanical (MEMS) cantilever, which works as a resonator embedded in a Pulsed Digital Oscillator circuit. The mass losses in the polymer due to atomic oxygen corrosion produce variations in the resonant frequency of the MEMS, which is continuously sensed by the circuit and transmitted to the ground. This way, polymer mass losses around 10-12 kg can be detected during the mission. The payload is a part of the 3Cat-1 mission, a nano-satellite aimed at carrying out several scientific experiments.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Construint la revolta. Política, comunicació i mobilització social en la gènesi de l'austriacisme valencià

El dia 1 de novembre de l’any 1700 moria, sense fills, Carles II, rei d’Espanya. L’obertura del seu document testamentari, on es declarava hereu Felip de Borbó, nét del rei de França, va desfermar un conflicte internacional que, durant més d’una dècada, va convertir Europa en camp de batalla. Al Regne de València, com a la major part de territoris que formaven la Monarquia Hispànica, les últimes voluntats del difunt monarca van ser acceptades i Felip V va ser reconegut per les institucions com a rei. Aleshores, res no feia presagiar que, en menys de cinc anys, l’arxiduc Carles d’Àustria seria aclamat per centenars de valencians com a rei d’Espanya i que aquests no dubtarien a prendre les armes en defensa del “seu” Carles III. En aquesta tesi doctoral s’analitza el procés que va conduir a la formació de l’austriacisme, el moviment que defensava l’entronització de l’arxiduc Carles d’Àustria com a rei d’Espanya. Es parteix del supòsit que aquest fenomen va ser construït de forma conscient pels responsables de l’exèrcit aliat i que, per fer-ho, es van servir de diverses estratègies comunicatives i van recórrer a una densa xarxa de col·laboradors. L’anàlisi de la forma com la revolta austriacista va ser construïda permet identificar els mecanismes que van facilitar la seua difusió, però també esdevé un punt de partida immillorable per analitzar les característiques de la societat valenciana en portes de l’inici de la Guerra de Successió, una perspectiva que permet valorar, en el seu context, la transcendència d’aquest conflicte en la història del País Valencià.On November 1st, 1700 died childless Charles II, King of Spain. After its testamentary document was opened, which declared heir Philip of Bourbon, grandson of King of France, an international conflict began that unleashed Europe into a battlefield for more than a decade. The Kingdom of València, like most of the territories that formed the Monarchy of Spain, the last will of the deceased monarch was accepted and Philip V wasrecognized by institutions as king. Then, nothing made foretell that five years later, Archduke Charles of Austria would be acclaimed as king in València and that hundreds of Valencians would not hesitate to take up arms in defense of "their" Charles III. This thesis analizes the process that led to the formation of the Austriacism, the movement that advocated the enthronement of Archduke Charles of Austria as King of Spain. It is assumed that this phenomenon was built way aware of the heads of the allied army and that they used several communication strategies and a dense network of collaborators. The analysis of how the Habsburg uprising was built helps identifying mechanisms that facilitate its dissemination, but also becomes an excellent point from which is possible to study the characteristics of the Valencian society during the last years of 17th. century, a perspective that allows us to determine, in its context, the significance of this conflict in the history of Valencia
