    Family function as a system is very urged by what to be the aims of life and ownership of resources. Family’s aims can be reached when resources available. Satisfaction level on family’s resources ownership is influenced by family’s values. The aimed of this research were to identify the ownership of resources of low income family and to analyze the satisfaction level on resources ownership by low income family. This research was a cross sectional study in thirty poor families that lived in urban area. In low income family, resources ownership (especially physical resources) is limited. Average of income per capita per month was Rp 78.492,00. Income was used only for daily food consumption, just enough "to eat" and not considering family nutrient requirement aspects. Because of this economy limitedness, many families had childrens who dropped out school. In general, physical resources that owned by family can only fulfil half of samples’ expectation, while non physical resources factor in general can fulfil samples’ expectation. Samples’s age correlated positively with the satisfaction level, while education correlated negatively with satisfaction level. Family income not correlated with samples satisfaction level. Satisfaction was influenced by how the families managed the income to fulfill daily needs

    Agriculture sector is a sector that take a lot of labor in Indonesia. There is a promblem with employment in agriculture sector, the high amount of old age labor and labor with low education. The lack of interest with agriculture from young generation is one of the causes that problem is happened. IAAS Indonesia is an organization that can be a place for young generation to give their aspiration about agriculture in Indonesia. The purpose of the study was to analyze (1) the interst to work in agriculture field of student as a part of IAAS Indonesia and (2) a correlations between interest factor and the interest to work in agricultural field. Data is collected by using questionnaires with a member of IAAS Indonesia. This research is a quantitative study  with descriptive survey techniques . The study was conducted to 88 students through the use of the Slovin formula.The result show that an interest to work in agriculture field for student of member IAAS Indonesia is in high category and factor which connect with student interest are  personality of the student, emotional factor, economics motive and condition of the work

    One of the biggest threats in the world of agriculture is the occurrence of global climate change which is likely to result in crop failure. Agriculture and climate change have a very close connection, because agricultural sector is very dependent and very vulnerable to climate change, so that the knowledge of farmers in the magnitude of climate change is needed. This study aims to examine the extent to which farmers' knowledge of climate change is happening and the impacts caused by climate change, especially on rice. This research was carried out using qualitative design with "case study" techniques, using primary data and secondary data. Determination of informants was carried out purposively, namely farmers who had done farming for ± 10 years who experienced crop failure and who were not with their land ownership status. Data collection techniques used in the form of observation, interviews and literature studies. The design of data analysis uses descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that farmers who experience crop failure and who have harvested already know and feel the changes that occur such as changes in planting, changes in temperature, changes in rainfall, extreme weather, and pest attacks, but farmers have not been able to explain what climate change own. The impact felt by farmers due to climate change is that farmers experience a decline in yields, increased pest attacks, increased risk of crop failure and a decrease in farmers' income

    Food security of a city will increase if its food availability is fulfilled. One way to optimize food security is by implementing urban farming as an alternative that can be applied to places with limited agricultural land, especially in cities filled with residential areas. In Bandung City, there is one farmer group that is actively developing urban farming, namely the Flamboyan Farmers Group. This research aims to describes the motivating factors for female members to be involved in urban farming and other public activities, analyze the role of female members in terms of the time they contribute, and analyze the amount of income they can contribute to their family income. The research method used a qualitative design with a case study technique. The results showed that the motivational factors that influence female members to be involved in urban farming activities and other public activities were internal factors based on their initiative. The time allocation contributed for urban farming activities is 42.44 % or as much as 33.5 hours / week. The average income contribution of female members from urban farming activies is 10.4 % to the total family income

    The Giri Senang Farmer Group has members who on average have not completed 12 years of education. The purpose of this study is to determine the value of children for families, family perceptions of children's education, chindren’s education level, and the correlation between children's values and family perceptions of children's education with the level of children's education in the Giri Senang Farmer Group. This research uses a quantitative approach with survey methods and analysis using descriptive analysis. Determination of respondents using random sampling techniques, amounting to 34 respondents. The results showed that most of the agricultural laborers considered that children had more psychological values than social and economic values. Parents consider their children a blessing and their existence makes the family complete. Farm worker families' perceptions about children's education show that education is very important for children, but the educational level of farmworker family children in the Giri Senang Farmers Group is dominant only up to elementary school with a percentage of 45,83% and the lowest is at the college level with a percentage of 1,04%. In the correlation between children's values and family perceptions about children's education with the level of education of the family children of farm workers the Giri Senang Farmer Group has a very weak and insignificant correlation. Therefore, it is hoped that parents can actively motivate and provide insight into the importance of education for life

    Ketahanan pangan dalam rumah tangga petani adalah faktor penting dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan nasional. Petani yang tahan pangan adalah petani yang tidak menerima bantuan pemerintah dalam bentuk rastra (beras sejahtera) sebaliknya petani yang tidak tahan pangan adalah petani yang menerima bantuan pemerintah yaitu rastra. Dalam pelaksanaan usaha tani, kinerja seorang petani dipengaruhi oleh motivasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi motivasi petani dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga petani padi sawah serta mengetahui faktor-faktor yang cenderung berhubungan dengan motivasi petani dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga petani padi sawah. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Jatiragas Hilir, Kecamatan Patok Besi, Kabupaten Subang. Teknik pengambilan data dilakukan secara purposif terhadap 29 petani di Desa Jatiragas Hilir yang menerapkan usaha tani padi sawah. Desain penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Analisis yang digunakan adalah deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa petani penerima rastra memiliki motivasi yang tinggi dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga petani padi sawah sedangkan petani bukan penerima rastra memiliki motivasi yang rendah dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga petani padi sawah. Faktor internal yang cenderung berhubungan antara petani penerima rastra dengan motivasinya dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga petani padi sawah adalah umur, pengalaman usaha tani, luas lahan garapan sedangkan faktor eksternalnya adalah ketersedian modal dan ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana produksi dalam usaha tani padi sawah tersebut. Namun tidak terdapat kecenderungan berhubungan antara faktor eksternal dan internal dengan motivasi petani bukan penerima rastra dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga petani padi sawah.Kata kunci: motivasi, petani , padi sawah, ketahanan pangan rumah tangga petan

    This study aims to analyze entrepreneurial behavior that is influenced by self-efficacy in young horticultural farmers in agribusiness centers in West Java. This research was conducted at the horticultural agribusiness center in West Java Province which includes three districts, namely Bandung Regency, Garut Regency and Cianjur Regency. The location selection takes into account the characteristics of the area, the activities and existence of young farmers in their business, the participation of agricultural stakeholders in developing entrepreneurship in agriculture in these areas and there is a network of young farmers that is starting to develop. The research design is quantitative, which is to determine the effect of self-efficacy on entrepreneurial behavior of young farmers. The young farmers who became the sample were 200 people, with certain criteria. The confidence of young farmers in their own ability to run a business has a significant influence on the development of entrepreneurial behavior. Efforts to develop young farmers must of course be made by all parties involved. All actors involved in the horticultural agricultural ecosystem must work together and collaborate to improve the ability of farmers in running their business, so as to encourage farmers to adopt entrepreneurial behavior in farming and it is hoped that their business can grow and develop better

    The pandemic has disrupted the global economy, including Indonesia as one of the countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to study young farmers with small scale businesses (small entrepreneurs) who during the Covid 19 pandemic experienced business failures and they tried to create new strategies in doing business or create new businesses as a form of adaptation made by them in the face of the pandemic. This study uses a qualitative and exploratory approach. Informants were chosen purposively, in accordance with the researcher's considerations, namely young farmers who experienced failure in their farming during the Covid 19 pandemic. The informants in this study were taken as many as 5 (five) people, namely young farmers aged 19-40 years and experiencing failure in farming during the covid pandemic 19. The results are expected to contribute to the entrepreneurial learning process from a business failure. From the practical side, the results obtained are expected to provide knowledge for an entrepreneur, that learning is something that comes from a reflection process, so that it can help them to take advantage of their experiences to increase their capacity so that they become better after business failure

    This study aims to explain why informal knowledge is important for sustainable agricultural development, and finally we try to provide input to increase informal knowledge from farmers in agribusiness centers in West Java Province. The selected informants are farmers who are engaged in horticultural business, have connections and contributions to agricultural development in rural areas and have a role in developing knowledge. Information is collected through various methods that involve in-depth interviews as well as in-depth observations. Farmers' informal knowledge has contributed a lot to the development of sustainable and resilient agriculture. Formal institutions need to pay attention to social, ecological and local economic aspects, focusing on farmers' needs, and not on knowledge that is readily generalized to farmers. Agriculture in a dynamic, complex and local specific context demands a more inclusive, participatory, collaborative model and stronger integration between actors. All actors in the field of horticultural agriculture, especially farmers, must be recognized as equal parties both formally and informally. Collaboration of all parties needs to be improved and integrated in the process of developing horticultural agriculture so that it becomes a stronger and more sustainable business
