We present a spectral analysis of the binary G 224-58 AB that consists of the coolest M extreme subdwarf (esdM5.5) and a brighter primary (esdK5). This binary may serve as a benchmark for metallicity measurement calibrations and as a test-bed for atmospheric and evolutionary models for esdM objects. We determine abundances primarily using high resolution optical spectra of the primary. Other parameters were determined from the fits of synthetic spectra computed with these abundances to the observed spectra from 0.4 to 2.5 microns for both components. We determine \Tef =4625 ±\pm 100 K, \logg = 4.5 ±\pm 0.5 for the A component and \Tef = 3200 ±\pm 100 K, \logg = 5.0 ±\pm 0.5, for the B component. We obtained abundances of [Mg/H]=-1.51±\pm0.08, [Ca/H]=-1.39±\pm0.03, [Ti/H]=-1.37±\pm0.03 for alpha group elements and [CrH]=-1.88±\pm0.07, [Mn/H]=-1.96±\pm0.06, [Fe/H]=-1.92±\pm0.02, [Ni/H]=-1.81±\pm0.05 and [Ba/H]W=-1.87±\pm0.11 for iron group elements from fits to the spectral lines observed in the optical and infrared spectral regions of the primary. We find consistent abundances with fits to the secondary albeit at lower signal-to-noise. Abundances of elements in \ga and \gb atmospheres cannot be described by one metallicity parameter. The offset of \sim 0.4 dex between the abundances derived from alpha element and iron group elements corresponds with our expectation for metal-deficient stars. We thus clarify that some indices used to date to measure metallicities for establishing esdM stars based on CaH, MgH and TiO band system strength ratios in the optical and H2_2O in the infrared relate to abundances of alpha-element group rather than to iron peak elements. A molecular dynamics model has been developed to investigate the effect of the crystallographic orientation on the material deformation behaviors in nano- indentation/scratching of BCC iron. Two cases with different substrate orientations have been simulated. The orientations along x, y and z direction are [001], [100] and [010] for Case I and [111], [-1-12] and [1-10] for Case II, respectively. Case I and Case II exhibit different deformation patterns in the substrate. During indentation, the pile-up can be observed in Case I, but not in Case II. During scratching the pile-up ahead of the movement of the indenter has been enlarged in Case I, while a chip with the disordered atoms is generated in Case II. It has been found that Case I has both higher hardness and larger coefficient of friction. The ratios of the hardness and the coefficient of friction between cases I and II are nearly 2. The reason is attributed to the different crystallographic orientations used in both cases

The paper gives the comparative results of chemoprevention against prostate cancer (PC) in 189 patients with benign prostate hyperplasia with a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level of 2.5 to 10.0 ng/ml during 4‑year combined (avodart + omnic) or monotherapy with either drug. Biopsy revealed PC in 14.3 % of the patients treated with avodart and in 29.0 % of those who received omnic monotherapy (p < 0.05). In the avodart groups, the incidence rate of aggressive PC was almost twice the rate in the omnic monotherapy group. The long-term avodart therapy was safe with a stable reduction in the baseline levels of PCA and dihydrotestosterone, and conversely, any PSA rise and even an episodic fall in free PSA ratio are indications for transrectal multifocal prostate biopsy.

4MOST Consortium Survey 4: Milky Way Disc and Bulge High-Resolution Survey (4MIDABLE-HR)

The signatures of the formation and evolution of a galaxy are imprinted in its stars. Their velocities, ages, and chemical compositions present major constraints on models of galaxy formation, and on various processes such as the gas inflows and outflows, the accretion of cold gas, radial migration, and the variability of star formation activity. Understanding the evolution of the Milky Way requires large observational datasets of stars via which these quantities can be determined accurately. This is the science driver of the 4MOST MIlky way Disc And BuLgE High-Resolution (4MIDABLE-HR) survey: to obtain high-resolution spectra at R20000R \sim 20\,000 and to provide detailed elemental abundances for large samples of stars in the Galactic disc and bulge. High data quality will allow us to provide accurate spectroscopic diagnostics of two million stellar spectra: precise radial velocities; rotation; abundances of many elements, including those that are currently only accessible in the optical, such as Li, s-, and r-process; and multi-epoch spectra for a sub-sample of stars. Synergies with complementary missions like Gaia and TESS will provide masses, stellar ages and multiplicity, forming a multi-dimensional dataset that will allow us to explore and constrain the origin and structure of the Milky Way.Comment: Part of the 4MOST issue of The Messenger, published in preparation of 4MOST Community Workshop, see http://www.eso.org/sci/meetings/2019/4MOST.htm

An interdisciplinary team communication framework and its application to healthcare 'e-teams' systems design

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>There are few studies that examine the processes that interdisciplinary teams engage in and how we can design health information systems (HIS) to support those team processes. This was an exploratory study with two purposes: (1) To develop a framework for interdisciplinary team communication based on structures, processes and outcomes that were identified as having occurred during weekly team meetings. (2) To use the framework to guide 'e-teams' HIS design to support interdisciplinary team meeting communication.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>An ethnographic approach was used to collect data on two interdisciplinary teams. Qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the data according to structures, processes and outcomes.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We present details for team meta-concepts of structures, processes and outcomes and the concepts and sub concepts within each meta-concept. We also provide an exploratory framework for interdisciplinary team communication and describe how the framework can guide HIS design to support 'e-teams'.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The structures, processes and outcomes that describe interdisciplinary teams are complex and often occur in a non-linear fashion. Electronic data support, process facilitation and team video conferencing are three HIS tools that can enhance team function.</p
