    In the title N-heterocyclic carbene compound, C32H30N4 2+·2PF6 −, the mean plane of the naphthalene ring system makes dihedral angles of 79.15 (15) and 76.85 (16) with the imidazole rings and 56.15 (19) and 80.56 (16)° with the benzene rings. An intra­molecular C—H⋯N hydrogen bond occurs. The crystal structure is stabilized by C—H⋯F inter­actions. In addition, π–π inter­actions [centroid–centroid distances = 3.848 (1) and 3.574 (3) Å] are observed. The nine equatorial F atoms in the two PF6 − anions were disordered over two positions with occupancy ratios of 0.545 (10):0.455 (10) and 0.793 (11):0.207 (11) in the two anions

    Molecular Beam Epitaxy Growth of Superconducting LiFeAs Film on SrTiO3(001) Substrate

    The stoichiometric "111" iron-based superconductor, LiFeAs, has attacted great research interest in recent years. For the first time, we have successfully grown LiFeAs thin film by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) on SrTiO3(001) substrate, and studied the interfacial growth behavior by reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED) and low-temperature scanning tunneling microscope (LT-STM). The effects of substrate temperature and Li/Fe flux ratio were investigated. Uniform LiFeAs film as thin as 3 quintuple-layer (QL) is formed. Superconducting gap appears in LiFeAs films thicker than 4 QL at 4.7 K. When the film is thicker than 13 QL, the superconducting gap determined by the distance between coherence peaks is about 7 meV, close to the value of bulk material. The ex situ transport measurement of thick LiFeAs film shows a sharp superconducting transition around 16 K. The upper critical field, Hc2(0)=13.0 T, is estimated from the temperature dependent magnetoresistance. The precise thickness and quality control of LiFeAs film paves the road of growing similar ultrathin iron arsenide films.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure

    Fabrication of multianalyte CeO2 nanograin electrolyte–insulator–semiconductor biosensors by using CF4 plasma treatment

    Multianalyte CeO2 biosensors have been demonstrated to detect pH, glucose, and urine concentrations. To enhance the multianalyte sensing capability of these biosensors, CF4 plasma treatment was applied to create nanograin structures on the CeO2 membrane surface and thereby increase the contact surface area. Multiple material analyses indicated that crystallization or grainization caused by the incorporation of flourine atoms during plasma treatment might be related to the formation of the nanograins. Because of the changes in surface morphology and crystalline structures, the multianalyte sensing performance was considerably enhanced. Multianalyte CeO2 nanograin electrolyte–insulator–semiconductor biosensors exhibit potential for use in future biomedical sensing device applications

    SummaryPulmonary alveolar proteinosis can be secondary to inhaled dust exposure, malignancy, and chronic pulmonary infections. However, pulmonary alveolar proteinosis secondary to extrapulmonary aspergillosis has never been reported. We report herein a case of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis secondary to invasive rhinocerebral aspergillosis. Neither immune modulators nor whole lung lavage was applied during the treatment course. The severe respiratory distress subsided, hypoxia resolved, and radiological infiltrates improved following the successful treatment of invasive rhinocerebral aspergillosis alone

    Rapid detection of epidermal growth factor receptor mutations with multiplex PCR and primer extension in lung cancer

    Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) kinase domain mutations hyperactivate the kinase and confer kinase addiction of the non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tumor cells. Almost all of these mutations are located within exons 18-21. The -216 single nucleotide polymorphism in the promoter region is associated with increased EGFR production. We present a method for detecting these common mutations in 81 cases of NSCLC. The protocol is based on the multiplex amplification of promoter region and exons 18-21 of the EGFR genes in a single tube, followed by primer extension of the PCR products using various sizes of primers to detect base changes at -216 promoter region and codons 719, 746-750, 790, 858 of the EGFR gene. We compared the results with that from direct sequencing for detecting EGFR mutations in 81 cases of NSCLC. The two methods identified the same 26 mutations, but our method is superior to direct sequencing in terms of the amount of work and time required. We presented a simple and fast method to detect mutations of EGFR genes in NSCLC

    Supporting Service Management with Service Encounters Analysis: A Case on Call Centre Outsourcing Operations

    Background. A service encounter is the moment that a client directly interacts with a service firm. It is a social-oriented activity that an in-depth analysis of how the client behaved can contribute to the service quality. Objective. The primary objective of this study was to cluster the CLT into groups. The secondary objective was to discover the sequence of question types that asked in each group. Method. A real world call centre outsourcing practice and data mining techniques are used to discover client behaviour. Results. A total of 100,703 inbound calls from the call centre operational database are analyzed. 90.4% of the total calls were made by 85% of clients who used up to three business applications. 72.03% of the total calls were made by a group of clients who involved two to five question types. The clients were clustered into four groups by three behaviour variables. The sequences discovered in this study were mainly on two question types. Conclusion. The service encounter is a complex business process that an integrated perspective should be taken to analyze the dynamics among the entities involved. The client behaviour can be discovered and used as the feedback information for turning the operations in different organizational levels
