Effect of Carbon Nanotubes on CNT Reinforced FGM Nano Plate under Thermo Mechanical Loading

    Get PDF
AbstractThis study analysis the effect of Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) on CNT reinforced Functionally Graded Materials (FGM) nano plate under mechanical and thermo mechanical loading using finite element analysis. Material properties of the plate are considered to be graded in the thickness direction linearly by varying numbers of CNTs in each layer. FGM plate results are compared with plane Al nano plate and CNT reinforced composite nano plate (same overall percentage of CNT) of same dimension and same boundary conditions. In investigation, it is found that CNT increases significant strength in both FGM and composite. But in mechanical loading, CNT provides more strength in composite compare to FGM, while in thermo mechanical FGM stronger than composite

Language learning and Language acquisition; What do the Learners Prefer?

    Get PDF
The aim of this study is to evaluate learning and acquisition strategies used by second language learners of Engineering College Students in Tamilnadu State. This study is a comparative investigation of learning and acquisition strategies of successful and less successful language learners. Why some learners become less successful in language learning while others become more successful is a common question in this area. Although there are many different reasons, one of them is related with “strategies” of the learners.  The study presents an analysis of a research to capture second language learners’ learning strategies in terms of acquisition and learning. Two hundred and twenty undergraduate higher education students were participated in the study. They were grouped in two parts as “Successful learners” and “less successful Learners” learners. The learners’ levels were based on their scores in a standardized test administered at the beginning of their College. These findings have important implications for College Professors,School Teachers, instructors and program designers to develop and practice different language strategies in order to have more successful students. At the end of the study, some suggestions were submitted to foreign language learners and secondary language learners also

SILVER NANOPARTICLE BASED HYDROGELS OF TULSI EXTRACTS FOR TOPICAL DRUG DELIVERY

    Get PDF
The present study aimed to formulate Silver Nanoparticle based Hydrogel of Tulsi (Ocimum Sanctum) extract for Topical delivery. The Silver nanoparticles were prepared using 1mM Silver Nitrate solution and Tulsi extract. Prepared nanoparticles were characterized for particle size and zeta potential. The optimized silver nanoparticles were incorporated into three different carbopol-940 solutions 3%, 5% and 10% carbopol-940 solution to produce Gel A, Gel B and Gel C respectively for improving convenience in superficial application. In vitro and vivo drug penetration studies of nanoparticles gels were determined using dialysis membrane. The particle size was found around 14nm to 28nm. The viscosity of the nanoparticle gels were found around 7500 centiPa.S to 7900 centiPa.S respectively. The poly dispersibility value was found very low indicating uniformity of droplet size of the formulations. The drug content in gels was found in between 97.2% to 98.26%. The drug release was found to be 71.33 % to 73.6% after 6 h. The results indicated that nanoparticle based Hydrogel C is a promising vehicle for Topical delivery of Tulsi Extract

Thinned Concentric Circular Antenna Array Synthesis using Particle Swarm Optimization

AbstractThis paper presents an optimal thinning of a large multiple concentric circular ring arrays of uniformly excited isotropic antennas based on Particle Swarm Optimization method. Circular Antenna Array (CAA) has gained immense popularity in the field of communications nowadays. It has proved to be a better alternative over other types of antenna array configuration due to its all-azimuth scan capability, and the beam pattern which can be kept invariant. In this paper, a 9 ringed Concentric Circular Antenna Array (CCAA) with central element feeding is considered. Extensive simulation results justify the optimization efficacy of the proposed approach for antenna array synthesis. The simulation results show that the number of effective antenna elements can be brought down from 279 to 139 with simultaneous reduction in Side Lobe Level by 20.37dB relative to the main beam with a fixed half power beamwidth using PSO. Real coded Genetic Algorithm (RGA) as well is also adopted to compare the results of PSO algorithm

EPFM Analysis of Subsurface Crack Beneath a Wheel Flat Using Dynamic Condition

AbstractDuring running due to frequent braking and suddenly jamming of brakes the Railway wheel skids over rails. This frequent skidding removes large amount of metal from the surface known as Wheel-flat defect. In this paper the wheel-flat and a subsurface crack in the beneath is studied using FEA. If the wheel-flat is not detected early the subsurface crack can originate in the beneath due to inclusion, may leads to fatal accidents. In this study wheel material is taken Elastic-plastic and J-Integral factor has been obtained. The wheel–rail vehicle is modelled as a mass–spring–damper syste

N=1* vacua, Fuzzy Spheres and Integrable Systems

We calculate the exact eigenvalues of the adjoint scalar fields in the massive vacua of N=1* SUSY Yang-Mills with gauge group SU(N). This provides a field theory prediction for the distribution of D3 brane charge in the AdS dual. We verify the proposal of Polchinski and Strassler that the D3-brane's lie on a fuzzy sphere in the supergravity limit and determine the corrections to this distribution due to worldsheet and quantum effects. The calculation also provides several new results concerning the equilibrium configurations of the N-body Calogero-Moser Hamiltonian.Comment: 20 page

AbstractIn this paper, we obtain extensions of sufficient conditions for analytic functions f(z) in the open unit disk U to be starlike and convex of order α. Our results unify and extend some starlikeness and convexity conditions for analytic functions discussed by Mocanu (1988) [4], Uyanik et al. (2011) [3] and others

Selection of Pressure Angle based on Dynamic Effects in Asymmetric Spur Gear with Fixed Normal Contact Ratio

    Get PDF
Asymmetric spur gears are finding application in many fields including aerospace propulsion and automobile which demand unidirectional or relatively higher load on one side of the gear flank. Design intend to maximise the load carrying capacity of the drive side of asymmetric gear by increasing the pressure angle is achieved at the expense of coast side capacity. Multiple solution for coast to drive side pressure angle exist for a given contact ratio and each of these have relative merits and demerits. In the present work asymmetric spur gears of theoretically equal contact ratio as that of corresponding symmetric gears are selected to investigate the change in gear tooth static transmission error and dynamic behaviour with coast and drive side pressure angle. Study shows that dynamic factor of normal contact ratio asymmetric spur gears below resonance speed are relatively lower than corresponding symmetric gears of same module, contact ratio, number of teeth, coast side pressure angle and fillet radii. Results also show that, coast and drive side pressure angle can be suitably selected for a given contact ratio to reduce the single tooth and double tooth contact static transmission error and dynamic factor of asymmetric spur gears
