Surface- and point-defect-related Raman scattering in wurtzite semiconductors excited above the band gap
We present a model for exciton-mediated first-order Raman
scattering by longitudinal optical phonons in the presence of surfaces and point
defects. It is consistent with the experimental data for all wurtzite structure
materials investigated and reviewed here (GaN, InN, ZnO and CdS) and also
explains not yet understood observations in the literature. We distinguish
between the involvement of elastic scattering by the surface and by point defects
in the scattering process. Surface scattering causes the dependence of the line
position on the crystal orientation of the excited surface in pure crystals. Point
defect scattering is independent of the crystal orientation and appears as an
additional contribution in defect-rich crystals. We postulate the polarization
properties of these distinct processes which are in good agreement with the
experiments and allow us to identify and separate the contributions of these two
effects from the polarized spectra

Political myth as a legitimation strategy: The case of the golden age myth in the discourses of the Third Way
Golden age myths as an answer to political crises are a recurrent phenomenon. This article demonstrates how the idea of a past golden age as the answer to a crisis of society was employed in the discourses of the Third Way: At the turn of the 20th century, the Social Democrats (SPD) in Germany and New Labour in Britain employed a golden age myth to define their politics. Analysing a corpus of texts from the Labour Party and the SPD between 1990 and 2005, this article demonstrates how global ideological trends are locally legitimized differently through the use of local political myths. The major contribution to the field of political discourse analysis lies in the discussion of mythopoesis as a legitimatory strategy, as well as in the analysis of the local adaptation of the golden age myth, which draws on Laclau’s discourse theory and its idea of empty signifiers

Temperature dependence of the dielectric function in the spectral range (0.5–8.5) eV of an In2O3 thin film
We present the dielectric function of a bcc-In2O3 thin film in the wide spectral range from nearinfrared
to vacuum-ultraviolet and for temperatures 10 K–300K, determined by spectroscopic
ellipsometry. From the temperature dependence of electronic transition energies, we derive
electron-phonon coupling properties and found hints that the direct parabolic band-band transitions
involve In-d states. Further we discuss possible excitonic contributions to the dielectric
function
Abfallwirtschaft, Kreislaufwirtschaft
