Formation of metallic magnetic clusters in a Kondo-lattice metal: Evidence from an optical study
Magnetic materials are usually divided into two classes: those with localised
magnetic moments, and those with itinerant charge carriers. We present a
comprehensive experimental (spectroscopic ellipsomerty) and theoretical study
to demonstrate that these two types of magnetism do not only coexist but
complement each other in the Kondo-lattice metal, Tb2PdSi3. In this material
the itinerant charge carriers interact with large localised magnetic moments of
Tb(4f) states, forming complex magnetic lattices at low temperatures, which we
associate with self-organisation of magnetic clusters. The formation of
magnetic clusters results in low-energy optical spectral weight shifts, which
correspond to opening of the pseudogap in the conduction band of the itinerant
charge carriers and development of the low- and high-spin intersite electronic
transitions. This phenomenon, driven by self-trapping of electrons by magnetic
fluctuations, could be common in correlated metals, including besides
Kondo-lattice metals, Fe-based and cuprate superconductors.Comment: 30 pages, 6 Figure

The study of proteotomic profile of mutton with consideration to the influence of feed combinatorics
The present article is devoted to the search for markers that attest the changes in the protein profile when fattening the lambs with enriched diets, taking into account tissue specificity. The purpose of scientific research was to expand scientific knowledge about the influence of essential trace elements of organic origin in the diet of lambs on the marker-proteins of skeletal muscle tissue, of myocardium and renal cortical substance. The objects of research were the tissues of the m.L.dorsi skeletal muscle, myocardium and cortical substance of the kidneys in lambs of the Edilbaev breed. These lambs received a diet with organic trace elements (iodine, selenium, silicon). To study the effect of microelements in the diets of lambs on change in marker-proteins, we ran the studies of the skeletal muscle, myocardium and cortical substance of the kidneys of lambs, using the method of two-dimensional electrophoresis. When searching for proteins which mark the action of organic additives in the fattening diet of lambs within the tissue of the myocardium and the cortical substance of the kidneys, a number of differences were noted; no pronounced effects were observed in the skeletal muscle. Enrichment of the diet of lambs with selenium derivatives led to a change in the protein composition in the kidneys cortical substance for some isoforms of selenium-containing proteins and related enzymes of the glutathione cycle. Reaction in this process of thermal shock proteins, utilization of aflatoxins and changes in proteins of energy metabolism within mitochondria of kidney cells was also revealed. The determination of functional activity, or immunofermental analysis of glutathione peroxidase 3 count in the blood, can be a promising biomarker for controlling the level of selenium digestion and the count of selenium in blood as a more rapid and cheap method in comparison with the proteomic technologies. And for assessing the rate of digestion and fixation of iodine, it seems promising to determine it via the activity of mitochondrial superoxide dismutase [Mn]. In the myocardium, the effect of digested feed additives mainly affected the mitochondrial apparatus, which changed its functional orientation, with the activation of several other metabolic cycles. These results are prerequisites for obtaining more fundamental data on the effect of diets enriched with essential micronutrients on the molecular mechanisms that take place within the myocardial and kidney tissue of lambs. New data have been obtained on the effect of diets enriched with essential microelements on the molecular mechanisms occurring in the myocardial tissue and cortical substance of the kidneys of goats and sheep. The research results obtained by proteomics methods will be used for modeling and targeted adjustment of diets in order to obtain raw materials with the necessary technological characteristics

The search for highly informative DNA markers to support the breeding programs aimed at increasing the productivity and biological stability of forest stands is an urgent task, especially in the context of global climate change. In this paper, we first investigate a new type of genetic markers based on the intron length polymorphism (ILP) of defensin genes to determine their informativeness and promising use for the estimation of the potential resistance of pine genotypes to biological damage. In the course of our study we applied the following methods: total DNA isolation by STAB method, PCR amplification with specific primers to pine defensin genes and Heterobasidion annosum s. s., electrophoretic separation of PCR fragments on a polyacrylamide gel under nondenaturing conditions, and also data analysis using software GenAlEx 6.053 and Statistica 10. Having conducted the research, we can present the following results. To investigate the defensin genes polymorphism in pine trees, we used ILP markers. These markers were developed based on the nucleotide sequences of the exons of PsDef1-4 genes. Analysis of PCR fragments obtained after amplification of each pair of primers with genomic DNA of pine showed that only one pair of primers, which is specific to defensin 2 (IPL-PsDef2), forms a wide range of amplified products, indicating their promising use for genetic characterization of genotypes of Scots pine. To clarify the use of IPL-PsDef2 markers for the study of genetic polymorphism we analyzed 196 trees and revealed that the average PIC was 0.287. IPL-PsDef2 markers were used to analyze the different genotypes of Scots pine on the areas affected by root rot disease. Based on the results of cluster analysis, the samples were divided into two groups, which differ in resistance to the root sponge. In addition, we identified PCR fragments that are specific to each of these groups and can serve as markers for the evaluation of the resistance of pine genotypes to Heterobasidion annosum. Thus, our conclusion is as follows: genotyping of defensin genes loci of pine breeding material is promising for the development of environmentally friendly technologies in order to enhance the sustainability of improved genetic material of pine trees to biotic stress.ΠΠ°Π²Π΅Π΄Π΅Π½ΠΎ ΡΠ΅Π·ΡΠ»ΡΡΠ°ΡΠΈ Π΄ΠΎΡΠ»ΡΠ΄ΠΆΠ΅Π½Π½Ρ Π³Π΅Π½ΠΎΡΠΈΠΏΡΠ² ΡΠΎΡΠ½ΠΈ Π·Π²ΠΈΡΠ°ΠΉΠ½ΠΎΡ (Pinus sylvestris L.) REMODELING OF THE TRANSFORMED PHENOTYPE OF CD16+CD32+CD11b+ NEUTROPHILIC GRANULOCYTES OF PATIENTS WITH ATYPICAL CHRONIC BACTERIAL INFECTION IN VITRO
The research has shown that the functional state of neutrophilic granulocytes (NG) is determined by the state of NG subpopulation phenotype composition in evaluating the simultaneous expression of CD16, CD32, CD11b membrane markers with considering the density of expressed molecules. The change in NG subpopulations phenotype indicates active or defective inclusion of NG in the immune response in inflammation. Various inducers of endo- and exogenous nature activate NG and promote translocation from cytoplasmic granules and vesicles or expression to the surface cytoplasmic membrane of receptor molecules. In this regard, our interest was in studying the expression peculiarities of CD16, CD32, CD11b NG receptors in patients with atypically occurring bacterial infections (chronic sinusitis) and the possibility of remodeling the NG phenotype under the influence of glucosaminylmuramyl dipeptide (GMDP) and IFNΞ³ in vitro. Subjects of this study were blood samples of patients with chronic sinusitis and conditionally healthy individuals. Flow rate cytometry at CYTOMICS FC500 (Beckman Coulter, USA) was used to evaluate the % NGs expressing CD16, CD32, CD11b, and the fluorescence intensity of these molecules (MFI) before and after incubation with the test substances. Flow cytometry (CYTOMICS FC500, Beckman Coulter, USA) were used to evaluate amount (%) of NGs expressing CD16, CD32, CD11b and mean fluorescence intensity of these molecules (MFI) before and after incubation with the test substances. The studies showed that in patients with chronic sinusitis with persistent recurrent course the presence is characterized by transformed phenotype CD16dimCD32midCD11bbr of CD16+CD32+CD11b+NG subpopulation. We have shown that the revealed changes in the level of expression of trigger membrane receptors do not allow NG to fully engage in inflammatory process and to realize its effector and regulatory functions. Under the influence of GMDP and IFNΞ³ regulatory molecules was demonstrated high mobilization capacity of the studied NGs for functionally significant membrane receptors in realization of various functions

In the modern economic conditions, the rational planning of costs and the complex process optimization are essential requirements to all organizations. Knowledge of costs is needed to correctly assess the economic performance of an organization. Competent and timely correction of tariffs for the obligatory medical insurance and rationalization of the requested financing of the medical organization depends on this assessment. In the present study, we analyze various methods of personalized cost accounting: the ratio of costs to charges (RCC); relative value unit (RVU); time-driven activity-based costing (TDABC), and the possibility of their adaptation to the specific needs of medical organizations. The personalized cost accounting incorporated into a medical information system allows for controlling, planning and carrying out a close internal management of financial activity. This function helps decision-makers: control the use of funds for medical care provision; increase the efficiency of management decisions; justify the prices of paid medical services; define the deficit and surplus work units; analyze the treatment cost for each patient, considering the diagnosis, method of treatment, age and other classification signs, including the reference to specialized departments; reduce the unnecessary βpaperβ work load on the medical personnel; model the future needs of the organization in accordance with the planned changes in the hospitalization policy; optimize, control and plan the budget with regard to the established standards of financial expenses. Implementation of this approach is expected to increase the work efficiency in most medical organizations and the entire healthcare system.Π ΡΠΎΠ²ΡΠ΅ΠΌΠ΅Π½Π½ΡΡ

A LOW-COST METHOD FOR THE DETECTION OF DUPLICATE HOLDINGS AMONG GENEBANK ACCESSIONS
A set of 185 pairs of accessions with the same name from the Russian and Nordic collections of barley were grown in the field in Pushkin and were scored by the same person using a set of morphological descriptors. No differences were detected in the majority of the pairs (63%).In four out of six pairs no differences were detected for any of the agro-botanical characters. The accessions are most likely duplicates. In 13% of the pairs, the accessions were probably distinct and another 24% fell in-between these categories and required further investigation. Simple screening can reduce the number of duplicates. [The work is dedicated to Sergey M. Alexanian, Vice Director for Foreign Relations of VIR, who passed away in 2014]
