Method and estimation of parameters of dense part of double electrical layer at the interface electrode-solution of the dye in liquid crystal

    No full text
First estimated were the parameters of dense part of double electrical layer (DEL) at the interface electrode – solution of the dye in liquid crystal, based on analysis of capacitance-voltage characteristics obtained at low frequencies, taking the series resistance into account. DELs with various parameters near each electrode were obtained owing to their different chemical compositions. It was shown that the obtained difference in the DEL parameters is caused not only by different chemical composition of the electrodes, but also different orientations of molecules near each of them (planar orientation near one electrode and homeotropic one near another). It was estimated the barrier height, thickness of near-electrode layer, and concentration of ionized states in the dense parts of DEL near each electrode. It was shown that these parameters differ by 2 to 3 times, and an assumption was made about the reasons that can cause this difference

Adsorption of ions and thickness dependence of conductivity in liquid crystals

    No full text
It is experimentally shown that, at thicknesses less than 100 μm, conductivity of planar oriented liquid crystals is a function of the thickness. The main reason for this effect is adsorption of ions on the surface of electrodes. The relation for estimation of changes in the conductivity has been theoretically obtained, and the value of the characteristic length for distribution of ions in a near-electrode area has been estimated

Dielectric and electro-optical properties of solutions of chemically modified fullerene С60 in nematic liquid crystal

    No full text
Solutions of fullerene molecules С60 with chemically attached molecules of diamine (С60D) in planar oriented nematic liquid crystal (NLC) were obtained by only heating and ultrasonic processing. The С60D concentration changes from 0 up to 3.0 wt.%. Within the ranges of frequencies 10⁻¹ – 10⁶ Hz and temperatures 298-343 K, dielectric properties of solutions were investigated. It was shown that, at frequencies higher than 100 Hz, the frequency dispersion of the components of complex dielectric permittivity is absent. A value of conductivity of the solution was determined. It was also shown that the activation energy for the temperature dependence of the conductivity in nematic and isotropic phases does not depend on the concentration of molecules С60D. Obtained and explained were the reasons of the nonmonotonic conductivity dependence of solutions on the concentration of С60D molecules. For frequencies lower than 100 Hz, the dispersion of the components of complex dielectric permittivity is observed. It was shown that the dispersion can be described by the Debye equation. The temperature dependence of a value inverse to the relaxation time correlates with the temperature dependence of conductivity. Presence of С60D molecules in NLC tends to increasing the voltage for the Frederiksz transition. Made was the assumption that this effect may be explained by increase in viscosity of NLC as a consequence of aggregation of fullerene molecules

[EN] Personnel competitiveness has always been one of the main advantages of any production enterprise. Therefore, competitiveness management of production enterprise personnel is one of the most foreground types of management. And that is the reason why this article has pretty high relevance. The article covers the most widespread issues and difficulties of personnel management implementation nowadays, considering current complicated conditions of uncertainty, which become increasingly sophisticated every time. Moreover, our study demonstrates some possible ways for production enterprises to overcome existing obstacles and become ready for new ones in conditions of uncertainty. As COVID-19 and martial law in Ukraine with their restrictions have contributed to the way of personnel management realization, many production enterprises have been suffering because of that and have been forced to change their management principles to meet the new conditions. Therefore, the latest theories of personnel competitiveness management are introduced in our science study to help production enterprises cope with the changing conditions of uncertainty in the modern world.Kovtunenko, K.; Kovtunenko, Y.; Fomina, N.; Kovalchuk, O.; Kovtunenko, D. The non-linear dependence of 6СНВТ liquid crystal conductivity on the concentration of gold nanoparticles

    No full text
Within the frequency range 10⁻¹…10⁶ Hz at the temperature 293 K, the effect of gold nanoparticles on the dielectric properties of the planar-oriented nematic liquid crystal 6СНВТ has been studied. The concentration of nanoparticles with the average diameter 3 to 5 nm was chosen as 0.01, 0.02 and 0.1 wt.%. It has been shown that for the frequencies less than 10 Hz, the dielectric properties of the samples can be described with the Debye dispersion. For the samples with the concentration of gold nanoparticles 0.1 wt.%, the time of relaxation has been estimated (4.7±0.5 s). It has been also shown that the conductivity of the liquid crystal depends non-linearly on the concentration of nanoparticles introduced into the liquid crystal. The greatest change in conductivity of the liquid crystal on the concentration of introduced gold nanoparticles has been obtained within the range of 0.01 to 0.02 wt.%. It has been assumed that the conductivity of 6СНВТ that depends non-linearly on the concentration of introduced gold nanoparticles is caused by the competing processes of ion desorption from the gold nanoparticles and of nanoparticle aggregation

Multiferroic based on nematic liquid crystal and nanoparticles

    No full text
Multiferroics stable in morphological parameters has been created by introducing ferromagnetic (Fe₂O₃) and ferroelectric (LiNbO₃) nanoparticles with the concentration 0.3 wt.% into nematic liquid crystal 6СНВТ. Being based on the analysis of photos obtained in nonpolarized light of optical microscope, it has been shown that the average sizes of irregular geometric shape of aggregates of Fe₂O₃ nanoparticles range unities of micrometers and are one order higher than spherical aggregates of LiNbO₃ nanoparticles. It has been shown that low-frequency dispersion of components for the complex permittivity is caused by near-electrode processes. The mechanism of this relaxation process has been ascertained, and its parameters for some of the samples have been determined. It has been shown that when introducing the nanoparticles the conductance of liquid crystal decreases, which may be caused by adsorption of ions (that carry charge through the liquid crystal) on the surface of the nanoparticles

Peculiarities of near-electrode relaxation processes in the polyethylene melt filled with graphite and carbon black

    No full text
By using the oscilloscope method within the frequency range 10 to 10⁶ Hz at the temperature 492.1 K and pressure 11.31 MPa at the output of the single-screw extruder, the dielectric properties of the composite melt – linear low-density polyethylene + 20 wt.% of graphite + 10 wt.% of carbon black – have been investigated. It has been shown that in the whole frequency range, near-electrode processes significantly effect on charge transfer. For the frequencies less than 100 Hz, in the near-electrode area the conductance is provided with hopping movement of electrons. For the frequencies over 100 Hz, charge transfer occurs through the ion movement. It has been shown that the transfer of ions in the near-electrode area can be described using the relaxation process that, unlike the vast majority of processes described in the publications, meets the wellknown relations only in terms of the complex conductivity. It has been shown that, in the terms of the complex conductivity, this relaxation process can be approximated with Debye equation, as well as it has been estimated the relaxation time (8.5 ms) for this process. According to the parameters included in the Debye equation, it has been estimated the thickness of the near-electrode area (17 μm) and shown that it practically coincides with the sizes of graphite particles

Si-rich and N-rich silicon nitride films were deposited at low temperature 300 °C by using plasmaenhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). The optical and structural properties of these films have been investigated by ellipsometry, Rutherford backscattering (RBS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy (RS) and photoluminescence (PL). The formation of silicon clusters in both Sirich and N-rich silicon nitride films after annealing at 900 °C and 1000 °C for hour in N2 ambient has been shown by TEM. Dependency of PL spectra on stoichiometry and post-annealing temperature was analyzed. The contribution of Si and N-related defects in emitting properties of Si-rich and N-rich SiNx has been discussed.
