Knowledge Capturing in Design Briefing Process for Requirement Elicitation and Validation
Knowledge capturing and reusing are major processes of knowledge management that deal with the elicitation of valuable knowledge via some techniques and methods for use in actual and further studies, projects, services, or products. The construction industry, as well, adopts and uses some of these concepts to improve various construction processes and stages. From pre-design to building delivery knowledge management principles and briefing frameworks have been implemented across project stakeholders: client, design teams, construction teams, consultants, and facility management teams. At pre-design and design stages, understanding the client’s needs and users’ knowledge are crucial for identifying and articulating the expected requirements and objectives. Due to underperforming results and missed goals and objectives, many projects finish with highly dissatisfied clients and loss of contracts for some organizations. Knowledge capturing has beneficial effects via its principles and methods on requirement elicitation and validation at the briefing stage between user, client and designer. This paper presents the importance and usage of knowledge capturing and reusing in briefing process at pre-design and design stages especially the involvement of client and user, and explores the techniques and technologies that are usable in briefing process for requirement elicitation
Duloxetine alleviates high light-induced anxiety-related behaviors in Wistar rats
Purpose: To investigate the effect of subchronic duloxetine treatment on high light-induced anxietyrelated behaviors in Wistar rats.
Methods: Adult male Wistar rats (n = 30) were randomly assigned to three groups of rats (10 rats/group): control group, 30 mg/kg duloxetine group, and 60 mg/kg duloxetine group. Intraperitoneal injection of duloxetine was given once a day for ten days. The anxiolytic effect of duloxetine in the rats was assessed using light/dark box (LDB) anxiety test.
Results: Anxiety-related behaviors were significantly reduced in duloxetine-treated rats, when compared with control group. The reductions were not dose-dependent (light zone time and latency time were significantly increased, while dark zone time decreased significantly, p < 0.05). The number of rearings significantly increased in 30 mg/kg duloxetine group, relative to control and 60 mg/kg duloxetine groups (p < 0.05). However, there were no significant differences in the number of light-todark entrances among the groups (p > 0.05).
Conclusion: These results show that subchronic treatment with duloxetine alleviates anxiety-related behaviors in Wistar rats

An alternative market organization: The case of cut flower Exchange in Turkey
Markets have frequently been criticized for their structural bias towards producing inequality. Yet the cut-flower market in Turkey provides the literature, the peasants and consumers with an alternative form of designing markets that introduces democratic participation to the organization of exchange relations. This paper scrutinizes the structure and functioning of the cut-flowers market in Turkey with the purpose of contributing towards a better understanding of how more sustainable and less asymmetrical forms of market exchange can be designed and maintained. Introducing a conversation between new social studies of markets and organization theory, the article calls for going beyond seeing markets as universal institutions of exchange that produce either negative or positive results simply by the virtue of their presence. Markets can foster or impede justice, depending on the form of their organization. Cut flower markets in Turkey present a unique case that illustrates not only the possibility of market design from below but also rethinking the findings of new social studies of markets and organization theory.Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA)Boğaziçi University Scientific Research Fund Project No: BAP 07C302Publisher's Versio
Residents’ attitudes towards boutique-style hotels development: a case study of Nevsehir
In this study, it is aimed to identify the perspectives of residents in
Nevsehir on the development of boutique style accommodation facilities
which are rapidly becoming widespread in their living quarters year by year.
Within this purpose, a data collection instrument has been developed in
accordance with the literature review and applied to the local residents living
around boutique style hotels. According to the findings of the research, it is
determined that people living in residential areas where boutique style hotels
are densely located have generally positive attitudes towards those facilities
by virtue of their impacts on the environment, local economy and sociocultural

Comparison of common surgical procedures in non-complicated pilonidal sinus disease, a 7-year follow-up trial
Background: Pilonidal disease is a common problem in primary health care which may require immediate surgical referral. Although various management options have been proposed, so far there is no gold standard treatment. The aim of the present study was to determine which of the following techniques was superior as regards postoperative complications and recurrence, midline unshifted adipofascial turn-over flap, midline shifted adipofascial turn-over flap or Karydakis flap. Methods: A randomized clinical trial was conducted in the Department of General Surgery. Patients with non-complicated pilonidal sinus were enrolled in the study from April 2009 to January 2012. All patients were randomized the day of surgery at the coordinating center by means of a computer program. Patients were randomized to receive midline unshifted adipofascial turn-over flap, midline shifted adipofascial turn-over flap or Karydakis flap. All procedures were performed under local anesthesia and patients were discharged 6 h after surgery. Demographic characteristics, skin color, body hair type, family history, preoperative complaints and duration of symptoms, cyst size, intraoperative iatrogenic cyst rupture, the presence of a tuft of hairs in the cyst, surgical techniques, duration of drainage, length of hospital stay, postoperative complications and recurrence were evaluated. Results: One hundred and ninety-two patients with non-complicated pilonidal sinus were enrolled. Seventy-two patients were randomized to midline unshifted adipofascial turn-over flap, 67 patients to midline shifted adipofascial turn-over flap and 53 patients to Karydakis flap. The mean age was 25.66 ± 7.67 years. At 76-month follow-up, the overall complications and recurrence rates were not significantly different between groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: In cases of non-complicated pilonidal sinus, we recommend surgical management using local anesthesia, outpatient surgery and the surgical approach with which the surgeon is most familiar
