Editorial "special issue on educational design research (EDR) in post-secondary learning environments

Along with many ASCILITE members, we have grown increasingly concerned that current approaches to educational technology research lack value and practical application in the field. Educational design research (EDR) is an emerging approach that bridges the demand for rigorous research with the development of relevant solutions to educational problems. EDR is an intervention and process-oriented approach that uses a variety of methods to examine the development and implementation of instructional solutions to current educational problems. As evidence about the inner workings of interventions accumulates over time, design principles and learning theories are derived from work in local contexts, and their limits can be tested in other settings. This genre of research is currently underrepresented in the literature. To advance scholarship through the execution and reporting of EDR, we identified an urgent need for examples across fields, and especially related to educational technology in higher education. The purpose of this special issue is to advance the field by showcasing exemplars of high quality EDR in post-secondary educational settings. We have sought manuscripts that detail EDR projects involving the use and/or development of educational technology in tertiary education (higher and further), lifelong learning, and training. This manuscript set therefore promotes research and scholarship on innovative instructional designs that integrate technology in those settings, promote effective practice, and help inform policy

ПОЛІЦІЯ ПОЛЬСЬКОЇ РЕСПУБЛІКИ: НОРМАТИВНИЙ ТА ОРГАНІЗАЦІЙНИЙ АСПЕКТИ

The normative regulation and specifics of the organization of police forces of Poland have been researched; the Law on the Police of 1990 and other normative acts in this area have been analyzed. It has been noted that after the democratic revolution of 1988-1989, the reform of the Polish police forces has become one of the priorities of democratic government. The system of agencies of the Ministry of Interior has already undergone changes at an early stage of reforms, when in April 1990 the Laws on the Ministry of Interior, on the Police and the Office of State Protection have been adopted. Instead of the militia, they created the police, and the vast majority of former officers of militia, except a part of the leadership, automatically became police officers. It has been demonstrated that the central agency of state administration responsible for protecting people’s safety and maintaining public safety and law and order is the Chief Commandant of the Police, who is subordinated to to the Minister responsible for internal affairs. The Chief Commandant of the Police is the head of all police officers. The Commandant of the Police is appointed and withdrawn by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers on the recommendation of the Minister responsible for internal affairs. Attention has been paid to the special powers of the police. In the case of disobedience to the police ordinance issued according to the law, police officers may use the following means of immediate coercion: 1) physical, technical and chemical means for deprivation of freedom of movement or convoy of persons, as well as for stopping trains; 2) official batons; 3) water stopping devices; 4) official dogs and horses; 5) non-penetrating bullets shot with firearms. Police officers may use only such coercive measures as are appropriate to the needs arising from the present situation and are necessary to achieve subordination to the issued ordinance. It has been concluded that the process of reforming the Police of the Republic of Poland was long, occurred in several stages for almost three decades, its main factor was the commitment to implement the standards and values of the European Union’s police activities, the joining of which was a strategic goal of the state. Besides, nowadays the organization of the Police in Poland confirms the balance between organizational efforts and resource provision, which are focused on achieving clear results in efficiency indicators of the police forces.Досліджено нормативне регулювання та специфіку організації поліцейських сил Польщі, проаналізовано Закон про поліцію 1990 р. та інші нормативні акти в цій сфері. Зроблено висновок, що основною причиною реформування поліції Польщі було зобов’язання щодо втілення стандартів і цінностей поліцейської діяльності Європейського Союзу, вступ до якого був стратегічною метою держави

ВИПАДОК ПАРАНЕОПЛАСТИЧНОЇ БЕШИХИ

The aim of the work – to attract attention of doctors to possibility of erisipelas special form that accompanies oncologic pathology development, – paraneoplasty.Conclusions. Oncologic pathology is able substantially to modify the clinic of erisipelas, in particular to result in the increase of degree of intoxication, area of defeat and, even, become reason of «offtype» localization of inflammation. It confirms the expediency of selection of the special clinical form of erisipelas – paraneoplasty. Valuable information for diagnostics of this illness is given by thermographic research. Changes on thermographic picture are kept considerably longer than corresponding clinical displays, that gives an opportunity to educe forming of chronic form and forecast relapses.Мета роботи – привернути увагу лікарів до можливості розвитку особливої форми бешихи, що супроводжує онкопатологію, – паранеопластичної.Висновки. Онкопатологія здатна суттєво модифікувати клініку бешихи, зокрема призводити до зростання ступеня інтоксикації, площі ураження і навіть стати причиною «нетипової» локалізації запалення. Це підтверджує доцільність виділення особливої клінічної форми бешихи – паранеопластичної. Цінну інформацію для діагностики цієї хвороби надає термографічне дослідження. Зміни на термограмі зберігаються значно довше, ніж відповідні клінічні прояви, що дає можливість виявити формування хронічної форми і прогнозувати рецидиви

ІХ З’ЇЗД ІНФЕКЦІОНІСТІВ УКРАЇНИ

7-9 жовтня 2015 р. у cанаторії “Медобори”, що поблизу Тернополя зібралось 265 науковців і практикуючих лікарів, переважно інфекціоністів, з усіх областей України на свій черговий, ІХ, з’їзд. Тема цьогорічного форуму: «Інфекційні хвороби: поступи і проблеми в діагностиці, терапії та профілактиці» вибрана неспроста – необхідно було всебічно і ретельно проаналізувати здобутки за час від минулого з’їзду, а головне, намітити шляхи суттєвого покращання надання медичної допомоги інфекційним хворим в умовах реформування медичної галузі, наблизитися до стандартів боротьби з інфекційними недугами в Євросоюзі і США.
