Concept Learning from Triadic Data
AbstractWe propose extensions of the classical JSM-method and the NΓ€Δ±ve Bayesian classifier for the case of triadic relational data. We performed a series of experiments on various types of data (both real and synthetic) to estimate quality of classification techniques and compare them with other classification algorithms that generate hypotheses, e.g. ID3 and Random Forest. In addition to classification precision and recall we also evaluated the time performance of the proposed methods

Highlights. The results of primary prevention of atrial fibrillation by using antiarrhythmic drug therapy and modulated kinesitherapy in patients with metabolic syndrome with premature atrial complexes are presented.A significant decrease in the development of the disease was revealed in patients with metabolic syndrome and risk of atrial fibrillation within a year after the examination with the help of pharmacological antiarrhythmic therapy of atrial ectopia and modulated kinesotherapy as primary prevention in comparison with therapy aimed at correcting blood pressure, glucose and blood lipids.Aim. To assess the possibility of using antiarrhythmic drug therapy (DT) and modulated kinesitherapy (MK)Β in patients with metabolic syndrome (MS) and premature atrial complexes (PAC) as the primary prevention of atrial fibrillation (AF).Methods. 426 MS patients with PAC aged from 58 to 72 years (mean 66.4Β±0.7 years) were included in the study. All patients had a high probability of developing primary AF within 1 year after the enrollment. Antiarrhythmic DT with class IβIIIΒ drugs was used as the primary prophylaxis of AF in 149 (34.97%) patients, MKΒ β in 121 (28.40%), the correction of blood pressure, glucose and blood lipids β in 156 (36.63%). All patients were followed up for one year and the end point of observation was the maintenance of sinus rhythm or AF registration.Results. Various clinical forms of AF were recorded in 26.45, 31.54% and 95.51% of patients with MS during primary prevention with the help of pharmacological AAT, UA and correction of its potentially modifiable components (arterial pressure, glucose and blood lipids), respectively, during the year after the examination.Conclusion. The use of both antiarrhythmic DT of IβIII classes, and MΠ as a primary prophylaxis of AF in patients with MS with PAC and the risk of AF development within one year after the first examination made it possible to reduce the frequency of the arrhythmia by the correction of blood pressure, glucose and blood lipids.ΠΡΠ½ΠΎΠ²Π½ΡΠ΅ ΠΏΠΎΠ»ΠΎΠΆΠ΅Π½ΠΈΡ. Long-term spectropolarimetric monitoring of the cool supergiant Betelgeuse
We report on a long-term monitoring of the cool supergiant Betelgeuse, using
the NARVAL and ESPaDOnS high-resolution spectropolarimeters, respectively
installed at Telescope Bernard Lyot (Pic du Midi Observatory, France) and at
the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (Mauna Kea Observatory, Hawaii). The data
set, constituted of circularly polarized (Stokes V) and intensity (Stokes I)
spectra, was collected between 2010 and 2012. We investigate here the temporal
evolution of magnetic field, convection and temperature at photospheric level,
using simultaneous measurements of the longitudinal magnetic field component,
the core emission of the Ca II infrared triplet, the line-depth ratio of
selected photospheric lines and the radial velocity of the star.Comment: Proceedings of the Betelgeuse Workshop, Paris, 26-29 Nov 201
Automatic Fracture Characterization Using Tactile and Proximity Optical Sensing
This paper demonstrates how tactile and proximity sensing can be used to perform automatic mechanical fractures detection (surface cracks). For this purpose, a custom-designed integrated tactile and proximity sensor has been implemented. With the help of fiber optics, the sensor measures the deformation of its body, when interacting with the physical environment, and the distance to the environment's objects. This sensor slides across different surfaces and records data which are then analyzed to detect and classify fractures and other mechanical features. The proposed method implements machine learning techniques (handcrafted features, and state of the art classification algorithms). An average crack detection accuracy of ~94% and width classification accuracy of ~80% is achieved. Kruskal-Wallis results (p < 0.001) indicate statistically significant differences among results obtained when analysing only integrated deformation measurements, only proximity measurements and both deformation and proximity data. A real-time classification method has been implemented for online classification of explored surfaces. In contrast to previous techniques, which mainly rely on visual modality, the proposed approach based on optical fibers might be more suitable for operation in extreme environments (such as nuclear facilities) where radiation may damage electronic components of commonly employed sensing devices, such as standard force sensors based on strain gauges and video cameras
Experiment K-6-23. Effect of spaceflight on levels and function of immune cells
Two different immunology experiments were performed on samples received from rats flown on Cosmos 1887. In the first experiment, rat bone marrow cells were examined in Moscow for their response to colony stimulating factor-M. In the second experiment, rat spleen and bone marrow cells were stained in Moscow with a variety of antibodies directed against cell surface antigenic markers. These cells were preserved and shipped to the United States where they were subjected to analysis on a flow cytometer. The results of the studies indicate that bone marrow cells from flown rats showed a decreased response to colony stimulating factor than did bone marrow cells from control rats. There was a higher percentage of spleen cells from flown rats staining positively for pan-T-cell, suppressor-T-cell and innate interleukin-2 receptor antigens than from control animals. In addition, a higher percentage of cells that appeared to be part of the myelogenous population of bone marrow cells from flown rats stained positively for surface immunoglobulin than did equivalent cells from control rats
Method for phase boundary structure control of laminated materials; destruction process investigations of nanostructured coatings with predetermined phase boundary texture
New surface texturing method by means of microplasma coating deposition with the following etching of the coating was shown and described. The method of step by step microplasma texturing was proposed to control the phase boundary of laminated materials. Micrographs of nanostructured inorganic non-metallic coating surface were obtained and analyzed before and after mechanical deformation. The nature of cracks formation and growth was investigated
