    EGNOS в Україні

    Get PDF
A research of European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) performance was conducted with a help of a satellite navigation receiver, working in the mode of receiving differential corrections. The goal of the research was to define the operation characteristics of EGNOS in central Ukraine, without a ground station. We have estimated the key system parameters, such as: accuracy, availability, continuity and integrity. Using the data recorded by our receiver and PEGASUS software to process it, this article illustrates the current state of EGNOS in Kiev. The research was conducted in static, while having the coordinates of the receiving station calculated in centimeter accuracy. The research was performed under the UKRAINE project, detailed information about the project is given under Acknowledgments header.Представлены результаты исследований работы системы EGNOS в Украине. Knowledge and behavioral patterns of youth ice hockey parents regarding sport concussion: a pilot study

    Get PDF
Purpose: There is an abundance of available concussion education programs for parents of youth ice hockey players. Parents play a vital role in recognizing signs and symptoms of a concussion sustained by a child, and therefore their knowledge and retention of such information is deemed to be very important. The purpose of the pilot survey is identify the general knowledge parents of youth ice hockey players possess regarding concussion. Methods: A survey of a sample of convenience was utilized. Forty-five parents (40 to 49 years of age) of youth ice hockey players were asked to complete a one-page survey to assess their knowledge of concussion. The ages of their children ranged from seven through ten, and all parents were recruited to participate while attending a team practice session at a local ice hockey arena. Results: Parents generally were aware of common concussion related symptoms (headache 98%, difficulty with concentrating 96%, mental confusion 91%, vomiting 91%, sensitivity to light 91%, and blurred vision 82%) while not so familiar with symptoms such as tinnitus (62%) and agitated behaviors (47%). Fifty percent of those surveyed were unaware if their youth hockey organization had a concussion policy. Conclusion: Parents of youth ice hockey players seem to fail to retain information learned from concussion education programs. Barriers to learning retention may include the ages of the youth participating, the abundance of informal and inconsistent information that is available, and the lack of organizational administration of concussion education programs. Parents appear to be receptive to receiving more information regarding the safety of their children. Parental recognition of the signs and symptoms of a concussion sustained while playing youth ice hockey may lead to more appropriate and timely management of the injury

Hardware and Software Complex for Laboratory of Satellite Technologies

The satellite technologies of communication, navigation and surveillance plays important role in modern transport and particularly aviation. The high effectiveness of global air navigation system is provided by applying data broadcasted from located on Earth orbits great numbers of satellites. The totality of existing satellite navigation system forms global radio navigation field which parameters should be constantly monitored and controlled for providing safety requirements. The aim of this article is to share experience of creating laboratory of satellite technologies in the National Aviation University that performs simultaneously educational and scientific tasks

Atypical presentation of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome: a case report

    Get PDF
Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a reversible syndrome characterized by seizures, headache, altered mentation, and loss of vision associated with white matter changes on imaging. A 25-year-old primigravida presented at 31 weeks gestation with atypical PRES characterized by generalized seizures and altered mental status. Magnetic resonance brain imaging showed high-intensity lesions in bilateral corona radiata, capsulo-ganglionic region, genu and splenium of corpus callosum, cortical and subcortical white matter of bilateral high fronto-parietal, bilateral cerebral peduncle, pons and medulla. Cases of antepartum atypical PRES are rare. Patients with atypical PRES do not always show typical manifestations. Our case reports highlight the crucial role of a prompt diagnosis, the importance of rapid blood pressure reduction, with a multidisciplinary approach

Obstetric and perinatal outcome of multiple pregnancy: a retrospective study

Background: Obstetricians and paediatricians are concerned about multiple pregnancy because of its high association with maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. This study aims to determine the obstetric and perinatal outcome of multiple pregnancy at a teaching hospital in Southern India. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in the department of obstetrics and gynecology, Basaweshwar teaching and general hospital, and Sangmeshwar teaching and general hospital, attached to Mahadevappa Rampure medical college, Kalaburagi from August 2020 to August 2022. The analysis included data on 36 women between 20 and 35 years of age, with ≥ 24 completed weeks gestation, having multiple pregnancy during the study period after applying the exclusion criteria. The data was retrieved from the hospital medical records that included demographic details, complications of pregnancy, and maternal and neonatal outcomes. The data was expressed as frequencies, percentages, mean and standard deviation. Statistical data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0 software. Qualitative data of the maternal problems during intrapartum and postpartum period was done using the test of proportion and chi-square test was applied for significance. Quantitative data was analyzed by t test considering a p value less than 0.05 as statistically significant. Results: There were a total of 36 women with multiple pregnancy with the overall incidence of 12.5 per 1,000 births (1.25%) during the study period. Preterm labour complicated 27.7% of multiple pregnancies, 13.8% of the multiple pregnancies were complicated by severe preeclampsia, 11.1% were complicated by imminent preeclampsia, 8.3% had intrauterine death in 1 of the twins, and 2.7% had oligohydramnios. 33.3% had iron deficiency anaemia, 22.2% had gestational hypertension, and 13.8% had hypothyroidism. There was no maternal morbidity. Majority (55%) were delivered by LSCS, whereas 44.4% were delivered vaginally. Postpartum haemorrhage complicated 5.5% of twin deliveries. The total fetal loss was 2.4%. There was no maternal mortality in our study. Conclusions: There is higher incidence of adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes among multiple pregnancies than singleton pregnancies. This mandates adequate counselling about risks and required monitoring to avoid adverse outcomes
