The establishment of the latest IoT systems available today such as smart cities, smart buildings, and smart homes and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are let the main design restriction on the inadequate supply of battery power. Hence proposing a solar-based photovoltaic (PV) system which is designed DC-DC buck-boost converter with an improved modular maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm. The output voltage depends on the inductor, capacitor values, metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) switching frequency, and duty cycle. This paper focuses on the design and simulation of min ripple current/voltage and improved efficiency at PV array output, to store DC power. The stored DC power will be used for smart IoT systems. From the simulation results, the current ripples are observed to be minimized from 0.062 A to 0.02 A maintaining the duty cycle at 61.09 for switching frequencies ranges from 300 kHz to 10 MHz at the input voltage 48 V and the output voltage in buck mode 24 V, boost mode 100 V by maintaining constant 99.7 efficiencies. The improvised approach is compared to various existed techniques. It is noticed that the results are more useful for the self-powered Embedded & Internet of Things systems

Umbilical true knot: a case study

    Get PDF
Umbilical cord true knot is a rare condition which affects about 1% of all pregnancies. The incidence is not only very low, but it is often undiagnosed antenatally when present despite the availability of prenatal ultrasonography as in this case, where the diagnosis of true knot of umbilical cord was missed even when an ultrasonogram was done 1 week prior to the presentation of patient with decreased fetal movements to opd. Majority of times it does not have any relation with fetal outcome but in certain occasions it is associated with intrauterine fetal demise as in present case presented here. Risk factors include long umbilical cord, polyhydramnios, small fetus, male fetus, etc

Evaluation of a modified equivalent fuel-consumption minimization strategy considering engine start frequency and battery parameters for a plugin hybrid two-wheeler

    Get PDF
An appropriate energy management strategy is essential to enhance the performance of hybrid electric vehicles. A novel modified equivalent fuel-consumption minimization strategy (ECMS) is developed considering the engine operating point deviation from the optimum operating line. This paper focuses on an all-inclusive evaluation of this modified ECMS with other state-of-art energy management strategies concerning battery ageing, engine switching along with fuel economy and charge sustenance. The simulation-based results of a hybrid two-wheeler concept are analysed, which shows that the modified ECMS offers the highest benefit compared to rule-based controllers concerning fuel economy and reduction in engine switching events. However, the improvement in fuel economy using modified ECMS has significant negative potential effects on critical battery parameters influencing battery ageing. The results are analysed and found consistent for two different drive cycles and three different powertrain component configurations. The results show a significant reduction in fuel consumption of up to 21.18% and a reduction in engine switching events of up to 55% with modified ECMS when compared with rule-based strategies. However, there is a significant increase in battery temperature by 31% and battery throughput by 378%, which plays a major role in accelerating battery ageing. This paper emphasizes the need to consider battery-ageing parameters along with other control objectives for a robust assessment of energy management strategies. This study helps in laying down a foundation for future improvements in energy management development and it also aids in establishing a basis for comparing energy management controllers

MIMO (Multiple input multiple output) used multiple transmit and receive antennas to utilize multipath propagation. This method is for multiplying the capacity of a radio link. In wireless communication standards MIMO has an essential element. “MIMO” refers to a practical technique used for sending and receiving more than one data signal via multipath propagation on the same radio channel at the same time. The demand of wireless communication increases due to miniaturized Antenna and dual polarization. Compactness in system is increased by miniaturization. Data propagation rate increased due to dual polarization by differentiating propagation polarization. In this work attempt will be to conduct elaborate Study, Design and Analysis of some of the Miniaturization techniques along with bandwidth enhancement and also on Dual polarization techniques. In future the techniques will be combined and study for Miniaturized Dual Polarized MIMO Antenna will be done

Chapare mammarenavirus - a new deadly virus outbreak: a review

    Get PDF
In 2003 an emerging mammarenavirus (formerly arenaviruses) was discovered in Bolivia and named Chapare (CHAPV). It was related to severe and fatal haemorrhagic fever, being similar in clinical features to Machupo (MACV). In mid-2019, CHAPV was the explanation for a cluster of 5 cases, two of them laboratory confirmed, three of them fatal. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis and subsequent analysis of the entire virus S and L ribonucleic acid (RNA) segment sequences identified the virus as a member of the New World Clade B arenaviruses, which includes all the pathogenic South American arenaviruses. The virus was shown to be most closely associated with Sabia´ virus, but with 26% and 30% nucleotide difference within the S and L segments, and 26%, 28%, 15% and 22% aminoalkanoic acid differences for the L, Z, N, and GP proteins. LUJV, CHAPV, GTOV, and SABV, which are geographically restricted, have been associated with only a few to a few dozen cases. They are, therefore, relatively unimportant to clinicians compared to many other viruses that are usually co-endemic. However, MACV, JUNV, and especially LASV have caused large outbreaks (LASV has caused hundreds of thousands of infections per year). Visitors to countries in which these viruses are endemic, or war-fighters that are deployed to these countries, need to be aware of how to prevent and suspect a mammarenavirus infection

A novel adaptive equivalence fuel consumption minimisation strategy for a hybrid electric two-wheeler

    Get PDF
One of the major challenges in implementing the equivalent fuel consumption minimisation strategy in hybrid electric vehicles is the adaptation of the equivalence factor to real-world driving. In this paper, a novel adaptive equivalent fuel consumption minimisation strategy (A-ECMS) has been developed for a hybrid two-wheeler to further improve fuel savings by predicting the drive cycles and thereby estimating and adapting the equivalence factor online for the ECMS energy management control. A learning vector quantitative neural network (LVQNN)-based classifier was first proposed to recognise the real-world driving cycle based on a fixed time window of past driving information. Along with standardised drive cycles, real-world driving data were used in the learning process to increase the robustness of the learning. The A-ECMS is then capable of regulating its equivalence factors online based on the LVQNN controller output. Numerical simulation results indicated that there was considerable improvement in fuel economy of the vehicle with the proposed methodology, up to 10.7%, compared to the use of traditional ECMS which was manually optimised for a single drive cycle. The average improvement in fuel economy over the ten drive cycles considered for testing is 3.93%
