The European Social Fund's influence on labour supply in Poland
The article analyses the use and distribution of the European Social Fund's resources among the Polish regions and identifies the target groups of their beneficiaries. Operations undertaken by offices on labor market are very important not only locally but also regionally. Available forms support creation of work places, help people without professional experience to get or develop new qualification. It is proper to continue mention effects and encourage potential assigns for participation in projects.Wstąpienie Polski do Unii Europejskiej i pozyskanie środków Europejskiego Funduszu Społecznego umożliwiło wojewódzkim i powiatowym urzędom pracy realizację projektów ukierunkowanych na aktywną walkę z bezrobociem. Mimo, iż EFS jest jednym z najstarszych funduszy Unii Europejskiej, to nadal pozostaje jednym z najistotniejszych narzędzi ułatwiającym osobom poszukującym pracę nabycie lub poszerzenie potrzebnych do jej znalezienia umiejętności. Wspiera projekty skierowane do tych, którzy po raz pierwszy poszukują pracy, a także tych, którzy długotrwale pozostają bez pracy
Development Opportunities of Disabled People in Selected EU Countries: A Comparison
The aim of the article is to identify good practices aimed at helping people with disabilities, carried out in such countries as Sweden, Denmark or Poland. Although all countries
provide specific benefits for people with disabilities, there are, however, such solutions which
are only available for the insured within the given system. And thus, actions supporting people
with disabilities in the labour market are addressed both to those concerned and to their employers. Within the first category especially important for people with disabilities are: Personal
and assistant’s help which increase, due to their specificity, the possibility to learn, take up a job
by a person with disabilities and stay in the labour market. The second category of activities is
addressed to employers. These include: Co-financing the salary of a disabled employee, covering the costs of adjusting the workplace for a disabled employee, covering part of the costs of
professional adaptation of the employee, if the disability arose at the workplace, and covering
the costs of commuting to work of the disabled employee. And although the state creates employment policy through these instruments, unfortunately the effectiveness of these measures
varies. Positive effects measured by the high employment rate in this group of people and the
low level of their passivity are evident only in countries such as Sweden or Denmark which
conduct active measures at the local and regional level. It is difficult, however, to notice them in
Poland
Determinants of Unemployment Among Persons with Disabilities in Poland
The aim of this article is to identify factors limiting chance among people with disabilities
to find a job in the labor market in Poland in the years 2013-2017. To analyze occupational
activity, statistical and empirical material in Poland was used provided by the Central Statistical
Office (GUS) as part of the Labor Force Survey (LFS), reports of the Ministry of Labor and
Social Policy. In spite of the work is an important part of every person’s life - disabled people in
Poland exhibit low occupational activity. From a social point of view work creates opportunities
for the development of human personality, enables and develops their contact with non-disabled
people and creates a chance for realizing common ideas. From an economic point of view a wage
getting from work becomes a source of livelihood and a means of satisfying basic needs. What’s
more a working disabled person pays taxes and contributes to the increase in the local budget
Polymers as a Chance for the Active Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities
The purpose of this article is to show the importance of polymers in the rehabilitation of people
with disabilities. The article takes into account medical, sociological and economic aspects
of the issue under study. It turns out that both medical and occupational rehabilitation have
a significant impact on the professional activity of a person with a disability. What is more,
there is a close interdependence between the type of disability and the ability to perform
specific activities. Persons with disabilities, due to the damage to the body, do not lose all
abilities and retain the ability to perform many activities necessary in life, work, etc. Some
of the abilities, after being identified and improved, can be the basis for starting rehabilitation, training, and then s professional work. In many cases, early and properly conducted
rehabilitation is invaluable. However, it would not be possible without many devices which
are made using polymers. They are used for the production of prostheses for limbs, joints,
tendons, as well as teeth. They are also used during medical diagnosis, rehabilitation and
prophylactic activities. The review of domestic and foreign literature confirms that the use
of polymers in medicine significantly improves the quality of life of people with disabilities
and enables them, through rehabilitation, to return to physical and professional activity. And
although all polymers used to produce the above-mentioned elements must undergo a special modification in order to increase their overall strength and provide them with essential
properties for utility purposes, undoubtedly modern medicine cannot do without polymers
Determinants vocational activity and civic activity of the people with disabilities in Poland
The aim of this article is to identify conditions of the civic and vocational activity of
the people with disabilities in Poland. Actually it seems that vocational activity as well as
civic activity penetrate each other and, importantly, remain in mutual interactions. However,
being active effectively prevents social exclusion of the persons with disabilities as well as
their families since it allows for much broader social contacts, improves self-assessment,
brings satisfaction and builds up a sense of being a member of a group. Therefore finding,
starting and keeping a job under conditions of the current labor market is not the only
argument for vocational rehabilitation of the people with disabilities but paves them the road
to their social rehabilitation.
Thus the phenomena explained under the proposed project include vocational activity
of the persons with disabilities and civic activity
Legal Status of People with Disabilities Under EU Law
The scope of this paper touches the changes which occurred in the European Union
law relating to legal status of disabled persons since the creation of European Community in
1958. The analysis is based on relevant legal sources, ie. treaties, EU regulations, directives and
decisions, as well as the ECJ jurisprudence and OECD reports. The article underlines the meaning
of the new individual-oriented approach, indicating equality of rights of disabled and
healthy. However it also gives attention to practical aspect of said changes, especially the adverse
labour market position of disabled people. For these reasons, despite common EU legislature
it is important to support and recommend not only social protection, but also social inclusion
and acceptance of the disabled persons

Entrepreneurship is widely regarded as the key to economic development. In spite of the crisis is here, more and more companies are established. The aim of this article is the answer the question: does this difficult situation trigger an entrepreneurial spirit, effectively discourage us from taking on new challenges and make us more creative? An important factor creating entrepreneurship in Poland, in times of crisis and economic slowdown is the availability of funds for economic activity. Currently, people who want to start a business in Poland may apply for funds from many sources. The multitude of available resources and growing competition for their acquisition encourage creative people to create their own place in economic [email protected] Kobus-Ostrowska, Ph.D. – Institute of Economics, University of Łódź5(65)738
Employment of disabled people as challenge for business
The paper is an attempt to answer the following question: Why is it worth employing disabled persons? For most of us, having a job is necessary for our independence, as it secures our basic needs and makes it easier to start a family. It is therefore an essential factor in the development of an individual. For people with disabilities, work is also an opportunity to become active in the occupational and social dimension. The former stems from the fact that it is through work that a disabled person can use and develop their manual and intellectual capabilities. The social dimen sion of work gives disabled people a sense of accomplishment and of being needed in the family, and strengthens their feeling of being integrated with society. In addition, work also serves as a form of rehabilitation because it improves those areas of life that have been adversely affected. Finally, taking into account the theoretical perspective on work, thanks to work, a person with a disability obtains a chance to create an environment consistent with their own vision of the world. The paper contains a presentation of the best practices in Poland, many of which confirm the thesis that the employment of disabled persons benefits the economy. However, it is important that both employers and the disabled open to one another and notice possibilities for cooperation.Uniwersytet Łódzki, Katedra Mikroekonomii, Instytut EkonomiiByra S., Parchomiuk M., Satysfakcja z pracy u osób niepełnosprawnych o różnym poziomie identyfikacji z zawodem, „Polityka Społeczna” 2011, nr 4.Dobre praktyki aktywizacji zawodowej osób z niepełnosprawnością realizowane przez organizacje pozarządowe w Polsce, E. Konferencja naukowa: "20TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DISABILITY AND DIVERSITY", Bangkok, Thailand, 13-14.12.2018; organizator: World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology; tytuł referatu: Theory and Reality on Working Life of People with Disability: The Case in Poland
Theory and Reality on Working Life of People with Disability: The Case in Poland
Work for everyone, especially for person with
disability is a condition in independence; it secures basic needs and
develops manual and intellectual capabilities. The work is a source of
income, and it builds and strengthens of self-esteem and competence.
The purpose of this article is to identify work as an important factor
in everyone’s life, despite Polish disabled persons rarely having the
chance to undertake a job. In order to achieve this purpose, two
methods were used: comparative and qualitative. The theoretical part
of this article is based on studies of a wide range of Polish and
foreign literature devoted to the issue of the occupational
development of people with disabilities. The article was also enriched
with the institutional and legal analysis types of support for people
with disabilities in Poland. Currently, a Polish person with disability
who wants to enter or return to the labor market is under a special
protection. Those entities employing workers with disabilities may
obtain a subsidy for the salary of a person with disabilities.
Unfortunately, people with disability in Poland rarely participate in
the workforce. The factors that contribute to this include the
difficulty in obtaining work, the uncertainty of keeping it, and the
low salary offered. Despite that domestic and foreign literature
highlight the important role of disabled people as a workforce, very
few people with disability in Poland are economically active
