This research is a field research with a qualitative approach. Data generated from interviews, observations, and documentation. While the steps of data analysis in this study are the processes, data collection, data reduction, data display, drawing conclusions and verification. From the research results it is known that managerially and operationally, the function of human resource management has been carried out in Darul Arqom Wiradesa Pekalongan and proved to play a very positive role. This can be seen in the process, implementation, and procedures in the stages of planning, management, procurement of labor, compensation, development and training, evaluation and termination of work. Although there are still some minor evaluation notes and a few inhibiting factors that should be resolved and become a concern for improvement in the future. Keywords: Management, Human Resources, Quality of Educatio

As long as people live together in a society, conversation serves their vital need to convey their messages which contain feeling, emotions, and intentions. A conversation is characterized by turn-taking. It means in a conversation which usually involves two or more people talking, there should be one participant speaks and the other listens. However, a conversation sometimes does not run smoothly. In this case, there might be something disturbing the process of conversation. Thus, an irregularity occurs. Irregularity in conversation happens for certain purposes. This study aims to identify and to describe types of turn-taking irregularities and types of reasons for doing turn-taking irregularities in a movie entitled The Last Song. This research employed a descriptive qualitative but quantitative which means this research supported by tables contain numbers showing the frequencies of the occurrences of turn-taking irregularities and their purposes. The primary instrument in this research was the researcher herself and the secondary instrument was the data sheet. The steps of research procedure in this study were watching the movie, identifying the problems in The Last Song movie, formulating the problems, determining the objectives of the study, determining theories on context and turn-taking to analyze the data, collecting the data manually, transferring the chosen data into the data sheet, and reporting the data. To gain the validity of the research, the researcher used triangulation technique by consulting the data with her consultants. In which the data had been previously proof read by some students majoring linguistics in English Language and Literature Study Program. The findings of this study reveal that there are 34 occurrences of turntaking irregularities done by characters in The Last Song movie. The occurrences cover both types of turn-taking irregularities; interruption (67.65%) and overlap (32.35%), and types of reasons for doing them; tangentialization (23.54%), disagreement (11.76%), signaling annoyance (14.71%), topic-change (8.82%), showing urgency (10.00%), floor-taking (5.88%), agreement (2.94%), assistance (2.94%), clarification (2.94%), and to correct (3.33%) .There are two occurrences of turn-taking irregularities the purpose of which is to show rejection (5.88%). In conclusion, characters tend to do turn-taking irregularities for negative purposes, including tangentialization, disagreement, and annoyance. These negative purposes usually happen in conversations in which characters are in conflict

Clerkship Modifications for Rural and Urban Underserved Program Scholars

Clinical clerkship directors and coordinators together with the Rural and Urban Underserved Program (RUUP) have created targeted opportunities for RUUP Scholars during 3rd year clerkships. These opportunities aim to build Scholars’ clinical experience, knowledge and skills working with medically underserved groups. RUUP Scholars now have the option of spending part of their clerkships at hospitals and clinics in Shiprock, Gallup, Espanola, and Alamogordo for a portion of their OB/Gyn, Surgery, and Pediatric rotations. In addition, Scholars have options for unique outpatient experiences as part of their Pediatrics and Psychiatry clerkships, and for selected placements for Family Medicine clerkship. We will be sharing reports of experiences from the first two classes of RUUP Scholars to have these options, as well as descriptions of operational processes and hurdles. These innovative clinical experiences can be a key step to help program participants to be leaders in the care of underserved communities

Prospects of induction sorting of automotive SCRAP

Recovery and recycling of metals from wastes have a major role in the economy because of the scarcity of raw materials and the problem of environmental pollution. In this article the necessity of using electrodynamics (eddy current) separators for extraction of non-ferrous metals from crushed automotive scrap and sorting of non-ferrous metals by types and grades of alloys is shown. The results of studies of an experimental separator based on a three-phase linear inductor are presented

En: Pediatrics, Vol. 133, No. 4, pp. e844-e849Background and Objectives: Mobile devices are a ubiquitous part of American life, yet how families use this technology has not been studied. We aimed to describe naturalistic patterns of mobile device use by caregivers and children to generate hypotheses about its effects on caregiver–child interaction. Methods: Using nonparticipant observational methods, we observed 55 caregivers eating with 1 or more young children in fast food restaurants in a single metropolitan area. Observers wrote detailed field notes, continuously describing all aspects of mobile device use and child and caregiver behavior during the meal. Field notes were then subjected to qualitative analysis using grounded theory methods to identify common themes of device use. Results: Forty caregivers used devices during their meal. The dominant theme salient to mobile device use and caregiver–child interaction was the degree of absorption in devices caregivers exhibited. Absorption was conceptualized as the extent to which primary engagement was with the device, rather than the child, and was determined by frequency, duration, and modality of device use; child response to caregiver use, which ranged from entertaining themselves to escalating bids for attention, and how caregivers managed this behavior; and separate versus shared use of devices. Highly absorbed caregivers often responded harshly to child misbehavior. Conclusions: We documented a range of patterns of mobile device use, characterized by varying degrees of absorption. These themes may be used as a foundation for coding schemes in quantitative studies exploring device use and child outcomes

Peer-mentoring for first-time mothers from areas of socio-economic disadvantage: A qualitative study within a randomised controlled trial

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Non-professional involvement in delivering health and social care support in areas of socio-economic deprivation is considered important in attempting to reduce health inequalities. However, trials of peer mentoring programmes have yielded inconsistent evidence of benefit: difficulties in implementation have contributed to uncertainty regarding their efficacy. We aimed to explore difficulties encountered in conducting a randomised controlled trial of a peer-mentoring programme for first-time mothers in socially disadvantaged areas, in order to provide information relevant to future research and practice. This paper describes the experiences of lay-workers, women and health professionals involved in the trial.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews with women (n = 11) who were offered peer mentor support, lay-workers (n = 11) who provided mentoring and midwives (n = 2) who supervised the programme, which provided support, from first hospital antenatal visit to one year postnatal. Planned frequency of contact was two-weekly (telephone or home visit) but was tailored to individuals' needs.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Despite lay-workers living in the same locality, they experienced difficulty initiating contact with women and this affected their morale adversely. Despite researchers' attempts to ensure that the role of the mentor was understood clearly it appeared that this was not achieved for all participants. Mentors attempted to develop peer-mentor relationships by offering friendship and sharing personal experiences, which was appreciated by women. Mentors reported difficulties developing relationships with those who lacked interest in the programme. External influences, including family and friends, could prevent or facilitate mentoring. Time constraints in reconciling flexible mentoring arrangements with demands of other commitments posed major personal difficulties for lay-workers.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Difficulties in initiating contact, developing peer-mentor relationships and time constraints pose challenges to delivering lay-worker peer support. In developing such programmes, awareness of potential difficulties and of how professional support may help resolve these should improve uptake and optimise evaluation of their effectiveness.</p> <p>Trial Registration Number: ISRCTN55055030</p
