Trieste e il Mare. Orientamento, navigazione, pensiero

La ricostruzione mitica del proprio passato ha spinto Trieste a separarsi dal Mare e a radicarsi alla Terra. Il Mare è divenuto così immagine del passato trascorso, Sehnsucht che è pure amore per l’Altro da sé. Nella lirica In riva al mare Saba restituisce il rapporto ambiguo fra Trieste e il Mare. Nell’angoscia la città scopre l’immagine di sé e non può difendersi dall’angoscia se non ritrovando il Mare come proprio elemento. Ritornare al Mare significa riprendere a navigare e a orientarsi tra l’unità e la molteplicità: Trieste è isola che desidera confini sicuri e arcipelago composto da altre Isole al suo interno. Riattivare la relazione con il Mare significa ricollegare tra loro le isole che compongono l’arcipelago frastagliato della città. L’apertura al Mare comporta di per sé il rischio del polemos, unica rotta pensabile affinché la città ritrovi la propria ragione storica e riscriva il mito che la irretisce. Questa ulteriore possibilità di pensiero non si disgiunge da un modo differente di abitare la Terra e di viaggiare per Mare. Lo spazio per un altro ethos dell’abitare viene qui indicato con la parola “deriva”

Two-phase damage modeling of concrete affected by alkali–silica reaction under variable temperature and humidity conditions

AbstractIn the present work the concrete affected by alkali–silica reaction (ASR) is represented as a two-phase material made of a solid skeleton and a wet expanding gel, which exerts a pressure capable of severely damaging the concrete surrounding the reactive sites. Both the effects of temperature and humidity conditions on the kinetic of the chemical reaction and on the final value of the consequent expansion are included in the proposed model. The mechanical degradation induced by the ASR is described by a phenomenological isotropic damage model. The constitutive model, implemented in a finite element code, is used for the analyses of structures made of reactive concrete in the presence of temperature and moisture gradients. Firstly the temperature and humidity fields are obtained through uncoupled heat and moisture transport analyses and then the chemo-mechanical analysis is performed starting from the values of temperature and humidity preliminary calculated

Zwischen 1900 und 1945 vollzogen sich in Osterreich tiefgreifende gesellschaftliche und politische Veranderungen. Wie nahmen KunstlerInnen sich und ihre Rolle in jener Zeit des Wandels wahr? Wie reagierten sie auf politische Zasuren und wie positionierten sie sich in den gesellschaftlichen Diskursen der Zeit zwischen Monarchie und Nationalsozialismus? Birgit Kirchmayr geht diesen Fragen mittels Analyse autobiographischer Dokumente nach, von der veroffentlichten Autobiographie bis hin zu unveroffentlichten Tagebuchaufzeichnungen und Briefen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die unterschiedlichen Kunstlerpersonlichkeiten Alfred Kubin, Oskar Kokoschka, Aloys Wach, Erika Giovanna Klien und Margret Bilger. Die Verknupfung von methodischen Ansatzen aus der Biographieforschung mit kulturwissenschaftlichen Zugangen und zeitgeschichtlicher Fragestellung ermoglicht, autobiographische Strategien breit kontextualisiert zu analysieren und manche "Legende vom Kunstler" (Ernst Kris) zu dekonstruieren

Questionando a figura da Ninfa em inconologia de Aby Warburg, a contribuição analisa o estatuto ontológico e epistemológico do “espectro” no discurso da estética contemporânea, entre psicanálise e desconstrução. Aqui são indicados os elementos de uma teoria da espectralidade, convocando Benjamin, Freud e Derrida entre outros

Proteinspektren von Gerste mit HPLC als Grundlage zur Bestimmung und Erklärung von ernährungsphysiologischen und technologischen Eigenschaften

Es wurden die Einflüsse der Proteine von Gerste auf die technologischen Eigenschaften bestimmt und eine Methoden zur Untersuchung der immunologischen Eigenschaften mittels ELISA vorbereitet. Insgesamt 144 Gerstenproben aus der Ernte 2009, bestehend aus 32 Sorten- und Prüfstämmen aus 5 Standorten, wurden in Doppelbestimmung untersucht. Die Proteine wurden nach den Osborne-Fraktionen aufgetrennt und anschließend jede der extrahierten Fraktionen durch Proteinspektren mittels RP-HPLC dargestellt. Die chromatographischen Peaks wurden in [mg Protein/g Korntrockenmasse] umgerechnet. Die berechneten Proteinkonzentrationen wurden in Beziehung gesetzt mit den nach EBC-Methoden festgestellten Qualitätsparametern: Extraktausbeute, Extraktdifferenz, Diastatische Kraft, Löslicher Stickstoff und Kolbachzahl. Außerdem wurden die Veränderungen der Konzentrationen der einzelnen Proteinfraktionen während der durchgeführten Kleinmälzung durch die tägliche Probenentnahme von der Rohgerste bis zum fertigen Darrmalz sichtbar gemacht. Einige Peaks mit hohen b-Koeffizienten unterliegen starken Veränderungen während des Mälzungsprozesses. Für die Extraktausbeute und die Diastatische Kraft konnten Modelle erstellt werden. Die Extraktausbeute wird durch die Albumin- und Globulinfraktion positiv und durch die Hordeinfraktion negativ beeinflusst. Die Diastatische Kraft steht allein mit der Albumin- und Globulinfraktion in direkter Korrelation. Mittels der b-Koeffizienten konnten darüber hinaus chromatographische Peaks mit positiven und negativen Effekten auf die jeweiligen Zielparameter erkannt werden. Bei Extraktdifferenz, löslichem Stickstoff und Kolbachzahl konnten keine brauchbaren Modelle erstellt werden. Abschließend wurde ein ELISA mit R5-Antikörper zur Erkennung spezifischer Epitope in Proteinfraktionen durchgeführt. Es zeigte sich, dass die Proteinmenge im HPLC-Eluat ausreichend für die Durchführung des Tests war und dass eine gute Differenzierung hinsichtlich des Gehaltes der Fraktionen an gesuchten Epitopen möglich ist.In this work the influences of barley proteins on technological properties were analyse and an ELISA-method to analyse immunological properties were arrange. Altogether 144 samples of the harvest 2009, divided into 32 species and test-strains from 5 different locations, have been analysed in repeat determination. The proteins were extracted according to the Osborne Fractionation procedure and were analysed by RP-HPLC and characterised by the spectrum of proteins. The chromatographic peaks were converted into [mg protein/g anhydrous mass of grain]. The calculated concentrations of proteins were correlated to the following quality parameters: malt extract, extract difference, diastatic power, soluble nitrogen and Kolbach index. Furthermore, during the malting process of barley to kiln-dried malt, the change of concentrations of each of the protein-fractions was visualized by taking samples every day. It was possible to accomplish models of malt extract and diastatic power. Malt extract is affected positively by the Albumin- and Globulin-fraction and affected negatively by the Hordein-fraction. Diastatic power is directly correlated to the Albumin- and Globulin-fraction. Chromatographic peaks with positive and negative effects on the parameters of quality were identified by the calculated b-coefficients. No statistic models could be created for extract difference, soluble nitrogen and Kolbach index. Additionally an ELISA with R5-antibodies was performed to identify specific epitopes in protein-fractions. As a result, the amount of protein in the HPLC-Eluat was sufficient for performing the test. Moreover, fractions of the investigated epitopes could be clearly differentiated

In the context of the late modernity, both Warburg and Benjamin put themselves on a borderline position. From that point of view, they show a common methodological and heuristic issue, consisting in creating “spaces for thinking” (Denkräume) from where it would be possible to redraw in a newly conceived “topography” the metaphysical maps by means of which we have represented our world. This kind of critical operation requires a different focus on the relathionships between writing and image, space and time, and it cannot be separated from an experience (even in a biographical sense) of “ownness” and “extraneity”. Thanks to this experience, the event of discovery outlines itself as an act of remembrance and, at the same time, as a promise for the future

Mobility Patterns and Lifestyles in Vienna – Case Study Liesing

The aim of the study is to understand the linkages between housing form, mobility patterns and lifestyle with focus on leisure activities, using the example of Vienna/Liesing. We analyse how mobility behaviour of daily and leisure activities is linked to mobility and leisure orientations as well as the availability of local recreational facilities, private or semi-private green spaces in the neighbourhood. The study shows that the general mobility orientations of residents in the district of Liesing to some degree contradict the reality of their daily transportation. It seems that in the case of trips to work and training the factors location, accessibility and travel time have more influence on mode choice than the factor lifestyle or mobility orientation. For leisure trips the correlation of lifestyle or housing form with mode choice becomes more important and overlays and stratifies the influence of locational factors
