The submuscular sliding plate technique for acetabular posterior wall fractures extending to the acetabular roof
AbstractThere is extension of the Kocher-Langenbeck approach using trochanteric osteotomy for posterior wall fracture extending to acetabular roof, but it exposes to complications such as nonunion, breakage, and heterotopic ossification. The current study introduces a submuscular sliding plate technique. We retrospectively analyzed 13 patients treated with this technique. It is based on conventional method for posterior wall fracture. After reduction of roof fragment with direct visualization, a pre-contoured plate was passed through a submuscular tunnel under the gluteus medius and minimus. A small split incision was performed on the muscles, and screws were inserted with a triple trocar complex safely under fluoroscopic imaging. All patients had fracture union without complications. X-rays results showed anatomical reduction in 10 cases and imperfect reduction in 3 cases. Our results were satisfactory, particularly without heterotopic ossifications despite no prophylactic regimen of NSAID was applied and no neurological complications, so we believe that this technique is a good option for posterior wall fractures extending to the acetabular roof
All Vacuum Near-Horizon Geometries in -dimensions with Commuting Rotational Symmetries
We explicitly construct all stationary, non-static, extremal near horizon
geometries in dimensions that satisfy the vacuum Einstein equations, and
that have commuting rotational symmetries. Our work generalizes
[arXiv:0806.2051] by Kunduri and Lucietti, where such a classification had been
given in . But our method is different from theirs and relies on a
matrix formulation of the Einstein equations. Unlike their method, this matrix
formulation works for any dimension. The metrics that we find come in three
families, with horizon topology , or ,
or quotients thereof. Our metrics depend on two discrete parameters specifying
the topology type, as well as continuous parameters. Not all of
our metrics in seem to arise as the near horizon limits of known
black hole solutions.Comment: 22 pages, Latex, no figures, title changed, references added,

Supersymmetric AdS_3, AdS_2 and Bubble Solutions
We present new supersymmetric AdS_3 solutions of type IIB supergravity and
AdS_2 solutions of D=11 supergravity. The former are dual to conformal field
theories in two dimensions with N=(0,2) supersymmetry while the latter are dual
to conformal quantum mechanics with two supercharges. Our construction also
includes AdS_2 solutions of D=11 supergravity that have non-compact internal
spaces which are dual to three-dimensional N=2 superconformal field theories
coupled to point-like defects. We also present some new bubble-type solutions,
corresponding to BPS states in conformal theories, that preserve four
supersymmetries.Comment: v2: 33 pages, published version in JHE
Finite N Index and Angular Momentum Bound from Gravity
We exactly compute the finite N index and BPS partition functions for N=4 SYM
theory in a newly proposed maximal angular momentum limit. The new limit is not
predicted from the superconformal algebra, but naturally arises from the
supergravity dual. We show that the index does not receive any finite N
corrections while the free BPS partition function does.Comment: 14 pages, v2: minor revisions, published versio
Modelling interstellar extinction and polarization with spheroidal grains
We calculate the wavelength dependence of the ratio of the linear
polarization degree to extinction (polarizing efficiency)
from the ultraviolet to near-infrared. The prolate and
oblate particles with aspect ratios from up to 10 are assumed to be
rotating and partially aligned with the mechanism of paramagnetic relaxation
(Davis--Greenstein). Size/shape/orientation effects are analyzed. It is found
that the wavelength dependence of is mainly determined
by the particle composition and size whereas the values of
depend on the particle shape, degree and direction of
alignment.Comment: 13 pages, 9 figures, aacepted for publication in Journal of

CP asymmetries in the supersymmetric trilepton signal at the LHC
In the CP-violating Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, we study the
production of a neutralino-chargino pair at the LHC. For their decays into
three leptons, we analyze CP asymmetries which are sensitive to the CP phases
of the neutralino and chargino sector. We present analytical formulas for the
entire production and decay process, and identify the CP-violating
contributions in the spin correlation terms. This allows us to define the
optimal CP asymmetries. We present a detailed numerical analysis of the cross
sections, branching ratios, and the CP observables. For light neutralinos,
charginos, and squarks, the asymmetries can reach several 10%. We estimate the
discovery potential for the LHC to observe CP violation in the trilepton
channel.Comment: 39 pages, 8 figures, version to appear in EPJC, discussion(s) added,
