    We present an analysis of the mass spectrum of heavy quarkonia with non-degenerate quark masses. The heavier (bottom) valence quark is treated in a non-relativistic fashion and the other (charm) is a relativistic Wilson-like quark using the improved SW action.     Internal localized eigenmodes on spin discrete breathers in antiferromagnetic chains with on-site easy axis anisotropy

    We investigate internal localized eigenmodes of the linearized equation around spin discrete breathers in 1D antiferromagnets with on-site easy axis anisotropy. The threshold of occurrence of the internal localized eigenmodes has a typical structure in parameter space depending on the frequency of the spin discrete breather.     Observation of non-classical rotational inertia in bulk solid 4He

    In recent torsional oscillator experiments by Kim and Chan (KC), a decrease of rotational inertia has been observed in solid 4He in porous materials and in a bulk annular channel. This observation strongly suggests the existence of "non-classical rotational inertia" (NCRI), i.e. superflow, in solid 4He. In order to study such a possible "supersolid" phase, we perform torsional oscillator experiments for cylindrical solid 4He samples. We have observed decreases of rotational inertia below 200 mK for two solid samples (pressures P = 4.1 and 3.0 MPa). The observed NCRI fraction at 70 mK is 0.14 %, which is about 1/3 of the fraction observed in the annulus by KC.     Two-body correlations and the superfluid fraction for nonuniform systems

    We extend the one-body phase function upper bound on the superfluid fraction in a periodic solid (a spatially ordered supersolid) to include two-body phase correlations. The one-body current density is no longer proportional to the gradient of the one-body phase times the one-body density, but rather it depends also on two-body correlation functions. The equations that simultaneously determine the one-body and two-body phase functions require a knowledge of one-, two-, and three-body correlation functions. The approach can also be extended to disordered solids. Fluids, with two-body densities and two-body phase functions that are translationally invariant, cannot take advantage of this additional degree of freedom to lower their energy.Comment: 13 page

    Successful introduction of information technology applications in various operations of hotel management is vital to most service firms. In recent decades, technologies of information, automation, and communication are increasingly recognized as essential components of a hotel company’s strategic plan. In this study, 62 super-deluxe hotels (5 star), deluxe hotels (4 star), and tourist hotels (3 star) in Korea are examined for differences in the impact of information technology services on guest’ satisfaction, guest convenience, and operational efficiency. The findings generally suggest that the impacts of information technology-enhanced services vary according to the category of hotels in Korea. The results of the study are expected to assist managers in the selections and implementation of information technology systems in their hotel

    Surface reactivity of tributyl thiophosphate: effects of temperature and mechanical stress

    The surface reactivity of tributyl thiophosphate on iron surfaces has been studied in situ by attenuated total reflection Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and temperature-programmed reaction and desorption spectroscopies. The results show that at temperatures lower than 373K the molecule forms a physisorbed layer on the iron substrate. At 373K a reaction takes place with the formation of an organic layer, together with iron polyphosphate and sulfate. At higher temperatures temperature-programmed desorption results suggest that the mechanism involves P-O bond scission to yield butoxy groups. This could be preceded by P=S bond scission to give tributyl phosphite, which then, in turn, undergoes P-O bond scission to produce butoxy groups.     Probing e-e interactions in a periodic array of GaAs quantum wires

    We present the results of non-linear tunnelling spectroscopy between an array of independent quantum wires and an adjacent two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in a double-quantum-well structure. The two layers are separately contacted using a surface-gate scheme, and the wires are all very regular, with dimensions chosen carefully so that there is minimal modulation of the 2DEG by the gates defining the wires. We have mapped the dispersion spectrum of the 1D wires down to the depletion of the last 1D subband by measuring the conductance \emph{G} as a function of the in-plane magnetic field \emph{B}, the interlayer bias VdcV_{\rm dc} and the wire gate voltage. There is a strong suppression of tunnelling at zero bias, with temperature and dc-bias dependences consistent with power laws, as expected for a Tomonaga-Luttinger Liquid caused by electron-electron interactions in the wires. In addition, the current peaks fit the free-electron model quite well, but with just one 1D subband there is extra structure that may indicate interactions.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figures; formatting correcte
