Charmed particles production in pA-interactions at 70 GeV
The results of the SERP-E-184 experiment at the U-70 accelerator (IHEP,
Protvino) are presented. Interactions of the 70 GeV proton beam with carbon,
silicon and lead targets were studied to detect decays of charmed , , , mesons and baryon near their production
threshold. Measurements of lifetimes and masses have shown a good agreement
with PDG data. The inclusive cross sections of charm production and their
A-dependencies have been obtained. The yields of these particles are compared
with the theoretical predictions and the data of other experiments. The
measured cross section of the total open charm production b/nucleon at the collision c.m. energy
= 11.8 GeV is well above the QCD model predictions. The contributions
of different kinds of charmed particles to the total cross section of the open
charm production in proton-nucleus interactions vary with energy.Comment: Presented at 19th International Seminar on High Energy Physics

Heat capacity studies of Ce and Rh site substitution in the heavy fermion antiferromagnet CeRhIn_5;: Short-range magnetic interactions and non-Fermi-liquid behavior
In heavy fermion materials superconductivity tends to appear when long range
magnetic order is suppressed by chemical doping or applying pressure. Here we
report heat capacity measurements on diluted alloyes of the heavy fermion
superconductor CeRhIn_5;. Heat capacity measurements have been performed on
CeRh_{1-y}Ir_{y}In_5; (y <= 0.10) and Ce_{1-x}La_{x}Rh_{1-y}Ir_{y}In_5; (x <=
0.50) in applied fields up to 90 kOe to study the affect of doping and magnetic
field on the magnetic ground state. The magnetic phase diagram of
CeRh_{0.9}Ir_{0.1}In_5; is consistent with the magnetic structure of CeRhIn_5;
being unchanged by Ir doping. Doping of Ir in small concentrations is shown to
slightly increase the antiferromagnetic transition temperature T_{N} (T_{N}=3.8
K in the undoped sample). La doping which causes disorder on the Ce sublattice
is shown to lower T_{N} with no long range order observed above 0.34 K for
Ce_{0.50}La_{0.50}RhIn_5;. Measurements on Ce_{0.50}La_{0.50}RhIn_5; show a
coexistence of short range magnetic order and non-Fermi-liquid behavior. This
dual nature of the Ce 4f-electrons is very similar to the observed results on
CeRhIn_5; when long range magnetic order is suppressed at high pressure.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figure
Preface: âQuarks-2016â, 19th International Seminar on High Energy Physics
The highlights of the most recent CMS results with 13 TeV data will be presented in this overview. The Standard Model precision measurements, including the top quark production, will be shown first. This will be followed by the presentation of Higgs boson studies with the early 13 TeV data. Then the focus will shift to searches for physics beyond the Standard Model, including the searches for several Supersymmetric scenarios, using different analysis techniques. The talk will conclude with searches for the exotic resonances, with an emphasis on studies of the high-mass diphoton production
New Effective Feynman-like Rules for the Multi-Regge QCD Asymptotics of Inclusive Multijet Production
New effective Feynman-like rules are defined for inclusive multijet cross
sections in the multi-Regge regime. The solution of the BFKL equation is used
as a starting point. The resulting rules involve conformal weight and rapidity
as a momentum and a coordinate respectively and are translation invariant in
the coordinates. We use the effective rules to calculate ultra high energy
asymptotics of inclusive multijet production. The dependence on the parton
densities occurs only in the overall normalization of the asymptotic cross
sections.Comment: 12 pages in Latex, 3 figs by epsfig, refs update
Measurement of the Ds lifetime
We report precise measurement of the Ds meson lifetime. The data were taken
by the SELEX experiment (E781) spectrometer using 600 GeV/c Sigma-, pi- and p
beams. The measurement has been done using 918 reconstructed Ds. The lifetime
of the Ds is measured to be 472.5 +- 17.2 +- 6.6 fs, using K*(892)0K+- and phi
pi+- decay modes. The lifetime ratio of Ds to D0 is 1.145+-0.049.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures submitted to Phys. Lett.
Confirmation of the Double Charm Baryon Xi_cc+ via its Decay to p D+ K-
We observes a signal for the double charm baryon Xi_cc+ in the charged decay
mode Xi_cc+ -> p D+ K- to complement the previously reported decay Xi_cc+ ->
Lambda_c K- pi+ in data from SELEX, the charm hadro-production experiment
(E781) at Fermilab. In this new decay mode we observe an excess of 5.62 events
over an expected background estimated by event mixing to be 1.38+/-0.13 events.
The Poisson probability that a background fluctuation can produce the apparent
signal is less than 6.4E-4. The observed mass of this state is
(3518+/-3)MeV/c^2, consistent with the published result. Averaging the two
results gives a mass of (3518.7+/-1.7)MeV/c^2. The observation of this new weak
decay mode confirms the previous SELEX suggestion that this state is a double
charm baryon. The relative branching ratio Gamma(Xi_cc+ -> pD+K-)/Gamma(Xi_cc+
-> Lambda_c K- pi+) = 0.36+/-0.21.Comment: 11 pages, 6 included eps figures. v2 includes improved statistical

Water-soluble biowaste gum binders for natural graphite anode for lithium-ion batteries
Anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are crucial, as lithium insertion takes place in the anode during the charging process. Also, it is rational to replace the conventional polyvinylidene fluoride (PVdF) with a water-soluble binder because the former employs N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone, which is environmentally harmful. To address the problem, we fabricated natural graphite (NG)-based anodes with water-soluble biowaste (W-SB) binders from the gum of the tree Cochlospermum gossypium and PVdF. Both of the electrodes were fabricated using 10 wt% of binder and were evaluated for their electrochemical performance. The NG-W-SB electrode showed good mechanical properties and maintained structural integrity after cycling, this promoted low charge transfer resistance on the electrode. NG-W-SB-based electrode showed high current peaks in the 1st cycle being an indication of enhanced electrochemical performance, unlike the NG-PVdF electrode which showed slightly low peaks. NG-W-SB maintained a higher stable capacity retention up to 360 cycles, whereas NG-PVdF had a capacity degradation after 200 cycles indicating a low capacity retention until the end of the cycle. Generally, W-SB binders showed highly enhanced cycling retention characteristics, comparable rate capabilities, and lower electrode resistance, which opened a new avenue for adopting biowaste (gum) as a functional water-soluble binder for LIBs applications
Hadronic Production of Lambda_c from 600 GeV/c pion, sigma and proton beams
We present data from Fermilab experiment E781 (SELEX) on the hadroproduction
asymmetry for anti-Lambda_c compared to Lambda_c+ as a function of xF and pt2
distributions for Lambda_c+. These data were measured in the same apparatus
using incident pi-, sigma- beams at 600 GeV/c and proton beam at 540 GeV/c. The
asymmetry is studied as a function of xF. In the forward hemisphere with xF >=
0.2 both baryon beams exhibit very strong preference for producing charm
baryons rather than charm antibaryons, while the pion beam asymmetry is much
smaller. In this energy regime the results show that beam fragments play a
major role in the kinematics of Lambda_c formation, as suggested by the leading
quark picture.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures (postscript), RevTeX, submitted to Phy. Rev. Let
