Problems around insurance against accidents in Ethiopian law
People purchase insurance policies to spread the risks among a great number of
individuals. Also such people take do care for unhappening of risks, they can not totally
prevent the happening of the risks. Therefore, Insurance give them security to unexpected
loss or misfortune by transferring these risks to vast majority of individual because
sometimes it is hard to people to prevent the risk by themselves.
From the above explanation we understand that insurance is an important devise of
covering risks related with business and personal lives of a great number of people.
Therefore, it is defined as a co-operative devise to spread the loss caused a particular risk
over a number of persons who are exposed to it and who agree to insure themselves.
against that risk.
There are many types of insurance. Insurance against accidents is also one type of it. Due
to rapid industrialization, and more use of complex machinery, industrial accidents are
more frequent. To cater to the varying and increasing needs, there is form of cover is
available. Individuals are granted this cover under insurance against accidents policy.
Beyond this kind of insurance there are a number of problems in Ethiopian commercial
code. Thus, the paper address such problems
Exploring Perceptions of Advanced Online Faculty Professional Development Needs: A Case Study
Over the last 10 years, funding for higher education has steadily declined. Illinois public institutions had to make many adjustments, particularly because higher education funds were cut by 50% in some cases, and on-campus enrollments declined by as much as 25%. Despite these issues, institutions with online enrollments sustained steady enrollment. The goal of this qualitative, descriptive, single case study was to examine the types of training participated in by online faculty, what training they perceive they need, and to inquire if they perceive their feedback is incorporated into PD offerings. Data collection consisted of a PD observation, survey, and/or interview. When faculties are advanced, according to this study, they still wish to learn new things and grow in their capacity as online instructors. In addition to their attendance at in-service PD, these faculty frequently schedule one-on-one sessions for help. Faculty also embrace the opportunity to gather with their peers informally; specifically, communities of practice are becoming common. These communities promote connectivity over shared interests or challenges and provide a social network for learning through shared experiences, success, and best practices. Faculty have specialized needs, and have many varied factors that influence their online teaching knowledge and ability that can be supported by customized institutional PD offerings
Survey of condom use among college students
Abstract:
In June 1993, a condom use survey was done on 391 volunteer students in the Gondar College of Medical Sciences (GCMS). Of the 228 who were sexually active, 47.9% had used condoms at least 'once in the last six months preceding the survey. During the study period, condom use was reported by 84.9%, and 33.3% of the respondents who said they had contacted commercial sex workers were found positive with at least one of the Conventional sexually transmitted diseases. However, among 175 who claimed not to have sexual contact with commercial sex workers, only 64 (36.5%) used condom. Besides, the association of condom use with demographic factors and high risk sexual behaviours was analyzed. Age, sex and history of contact with commercial sex workers were shown to have statistically significant association. Eighty six students (54.5%) in the 20-24 age group and 18 students (27.7%) in the 15-19 age group used condoms. The proportion of male students using condom (46.5%) was higher than that of female students (1.3%). It is suggested that condoms should easily be made available to students and sex education be part of health education sessions. [Ethiop. J. Health Dev. 1995;9(1):7-11
Influence of polar co-solutes and salt on the hydration of lipid membranes
The influence of the co-solutes TMAO, urea, and NaCl on the hydration repulsion between lipid membranes is investigated in a combined experimental/simulation approach. Pressure–hydration curves obtained via sorption experiments reveal that the repulsion significantly increases when the membranes are loaded with co-solutes, most strongly for TMAO. As a result, the co-solutes retain additional water molecules and therefore provide membranes with a fluid and more physiological environment. The experimental data are quantitatively reproduced in complementary solvent-explicit atomistic molecular dynamics simulations, which yield the chemical potential of water. Simulation analysis reveals that the additional repulsion arises from the osmotic pressure generated by the co-solutes, an effect which is maximal for TMAO, due to its unfavorable interactions with the lipid headgroup layer and its extraordinarily high osmotic coefficient
RESPONSE TO COUNSELLING OF HIV CARRIERS AND AIDS PATIENTS IN ETHIOPIA
SUMMARY: Since 1987, the DAC has been counseling sero-surveys participants who are AIDS patients, students tested positive for HIV , females involved in MPSC (multi- partner sexual contacts) and long distance truck drivers. By 1990 nearly 7000 individuals had received counseling on AIDS and HIV infection. The DAC counselors noted a variety of reactions to HIV test results and attitudes towards condoms. Education appeared to be a determining factor in understanding the test results
PENERAPAN MODEL EXAMPLE NON EXAMPLE PADA MATERI PENCEMARAN DALAM UPAYA MENINGKATKAN RESPON SISWA DI KELAS VII.4 SMPN 1 TANJUNG BATU
ABSTRACT: Learning on curriculum in 2013 applying scientific learning with student-centered learning. Teaching and learning activities (KBM) were carried out every day, is the life of a class. Most of the learning process gurulah more active than the students, and yet we find that many students who are the subject of learning, more responding in the presentation phase (core) in the form of responses asking, answering the questions we ask, or also responding from questions her classmates, while learning the curriculum in 2013 students are required to seek out their own learning materials. To improve the response of students on teaching and learning activities, as well as a supporting instrument in the assessment of attitudes in the curriculum in 2013, the researchers applied learning model example non example in the presentation of material contamination in this study. This type of research is Classroom Action Research with the research procedure as follows: implementation of action plan of action → reflection → → → observation action planning next cycle. Objectives to be achieved through this research are to: determine the response improvement in grade VII.4 SMPN1 TanjungBatu on the application of material contamination with non exsampelexsampel learning model. The research instrument used in this study are: Observation sheet contains five aspects of student responses were observed, namely: 1.mengajukan question, 2.menjawab question, according 3.Mengemukakan topics discussed ideas, ideas 4.menangapi polite manner, 5. Providing solutions. Data were analyzed quantitatively, to measure the percentage increase in student responses for each indicator and the average percentage of the response of the fifth aspect of the response in each cycle. The results of data analysis are then presented in the form of descriptive description. Indicators of successful action is if the average percentage of the value of the five aspects of attitude response ≥ 75% (Good). Based on research data obtained from the second cycle the average value of the attitude of the student responses from the five aspects of attitude response assessed was 77.02%. Based on these results, we conclude that the cooperative learning model through the example of non example in the matter of pollution can increase response VII.4 junior high school students in grade 1 Tanjung Batu.
