    Examining Organizational Justice in the Context of LMX and the Effect of LMX on Trust and Job Performance

    Services marketing and organizational behavior researchers have studied factors that have a positive influence on employeesā€™ job performance. They viewed that the managerā€™s role in dealing with his/her subordinates is critical in producing the desired outcomes such as employee job performance. This study based on organizational justice and Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) theory, presents and tests a model, in which relationships among justice, LMX, trust, and job performance are examined. More specifically, the study examines the impact of organizational justice on the quality of LMX and the effect of LMX on employeesā€™ attitudinal and behavioral aspects (trust and job performance). The study employs four dimensions of justice, two bases of trust and two types of job performance. By using a dimensional approach, the study attempts to investigate and comprehend dynamic and complex relationships among the variables. Using the data collected from restaurant employees in South Korea, the study finds that all dimensions of justice have a positive influence on the quality of LMX. LMX plays a significant role in affecting two bases of trust (cognitive trust and affective trust) and two dimensions of job performance (task performance and helping behavior). The study also found that not cognitive trust but affective trust influences task performance. The finding that distributive justice explains the largest portion of the variance in the quality of LMX suggests that distributive justice plays the most important role in building and maintaining the quality of manager-employee relationship. Employees care about fair distribution of the resources and outcomes that reflect the efforts they put into the work. The importance of quality of leader-member exchange is highlighted in this study. The high-quality relationship developed through the organizationā€™s institutionalization of justice helps employees have trust in the leaders. It seems that justice is a mechanism through which managers and employees develop a highquality relationship. The study also found that affective trust has a significant positive effect on task performance, suggesting instilling and nurturing trust among employees is critical for improving their job performance

    The importance of a security operating system (OS) with security-enhancing mechanisms at the kernel level, such as a reference monitor and a cryptographic file system, has been increasingly emphasized as the weaknesses and limitation of mechanisms at the user level have been revealed. However, when a system has only a reference monitor, the system is vulnerable to a low-level detour or a physical attack. In addition, when a system has only a cryptographic file system, the file system has a difficulty in protecting itself. To address these problems, we designed and developed a security OS with a reference monitor, a cryptographic file system, authentication limitation, and session limitation.     Quantification of The Performance of CMIP6 Models for Dynamic Downscaling in The North Pacific and Northwest Pacific Oceans

    Selecting a reliable global climate model as the driving forcing in simulations with dynamic downscaling is critical for obtaining a reliable regional ocean climate. With respect to their accuracy in providing physical quantities and long-term trends, we quantify the performances of 17 models from the Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) over the North Pacific (NP) and Northwest Pacific (NWP) oceans for 1979ā€“2014. Based on normalized evaluation measures, each modelā€™s performance for a physical quantity is mainly quantified by the performance score (PS), which ranges from 0 to 100. Overall, the CMIP6 models reasonably reproduce the physical quantities of the driving variables and the warming ocean heat content and temperature trends. However, their performances significantly depend on the variables and region analyzed. The EC-Earth-Veg and CNRM-CM6-1 models show the best performances for the NP and NWP oceans, respectively, with the highest PS values of 85.89 and 76.97, respectively. The EC-Earth3 model series are less sensitive to the driving variables in the NP ocean, as reflected in their PS. The model performance is significantly dependent on the driving variables in the NWP ocean. Nevertheless, providing a better physical quantity does not correlate with a better performance for trend. However, MRI-ESM2-0 model shows a high performance for the physical quantity in the NWP ocean with warming trends similar to references, and it could thus be used as an appropriate driving forcing in dynamic downscaling of this ocean.     Charge-spin correlation in van der Waals antiferromagenet NiPS3

    Strong charge-spin coupling is found in a layered transition-metal trichalcogenide NiPS3, a van derWaals antiferromagnet, from our study of the electronic structure using several experimental and theoretical tools: spectroscopic ellipsometry, x-ray absorption and photoemission spectroscopy, and density-functional calculations. NiPS3 displays an anomalous shift in the optical spectral weight at the magnetic ordering temperature, reflecting a strong coupling between the electronic and magnetic structures. X-ray absorption, photoemission and optical spectra support a self-doped ground state in NiPS3. Our work demonstrates that layered transition-metal trichalcogenide magnets are a useful candidate for the study of correlated-electron physics in two-dimensional magnetic material.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figur

    Time reduction effects of steel connected precast concrete components for heavily loaded long-span buildings

    The characteristics of large logistics buildings are their long spans and the ability to take heavy loads. Usually, PC components are used for their frames to ensure quick construction. However, the erection of most pin jointed PC structures increases the time and the cost incurred for ensuring structural stability and construction safety. To solve this problem, ā€œsmartā€ frames have been developed, which have tapered steel joints at both ends of the PC components. A smart frame with the moment frame concept not only assures structural stability and construction safety, but it also simplifies and quickens the erection because of its tapered joint detail. The purpose of this study is to compare the erection time and cost effects of the steel connected PC components for heavily loaded long-span logistics buildings with the existing PC frames. For this study, we selected a logistics building constructed with PC components and redesigned it as the smart frame, and the erection simulations were performed. We analyzed the time reduction effects of the smart frame. Our results confirmed that the use of the smart frame reduced the erection time and cost practically. Our investigations will help develop the erection simulation algorithms for smart frames

    The Safety and Efficiency of the Ultrasound-guided Large Needle Core Biopsy of Axilla Lymph Nodes

    PURPOSE: To evaluate the safety and efficiency of the Ultrasound (US)-guided large needle core biopsy of axilla lymph nodes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From March 2004 to September 2005, 31 patients underwent the US-guided core biopsy for axilla lymph nodes. Twenty five lesions out of 31 were detected during breast US, and 6 of 31 cases were palpable. Lymph nodes were classified based on their shape and cortical morphology. The core biopsy of axilla lymph nodes was performed on suspicious lymph nodes found during breast ultrasonography to find out whether the patients had a history of breast cancer or not. Among the 31 patients, 16 patients were associated with breast cancer. The lesion sizes varied from 0.6 cm to 3.3 cm (mean=1.59+/-0.76 cm). US-guided core biopsies were performed with 14 G needles with an automated biopsy gun. Total 3 or 5 specimens were obtained. RESULTS: Among the 31 cases of axilla lymph nodes core biopsies, 11 cases showed malignant pathology. Seven out of 11 cases were metastatic lymph nodes from breast cancer; 2 cases were from primary unknown and 2 cases from lymphomas. On the other hand, 20 histopathologic results of axilla lesions were benign: subacute necrotizing lymphadenitis (n=2), dermatopathic lymphadenitis (n=1), reactive hyperplasia (n=10) and free of carcinoma (n=7). CONCLUSION: The US-guided large needle core biopsy of axilla lesions is safe and effective for the pathological evaluation.
