    Three-body treatment of the penetration through the Coulomb field of a two-fragment nucleus

    On the basis of the Faddeev integral equations method and the Watson- Feshbach concept of the effective (optical) interaction potential, the first fully consistent three-body approach to the description of the penetration of a charged particle through the Coulomb field of a two-particle bound complex (composed of one charged and one neutral particles) has been developed. A general formalism has been elaborated and on its basis, to a first approximation in the Sommerfeld parameter, the influence of the nuclear structure on the probability of the penetration of a charged particle (the muon, the pion, the kaon and the proton) through the Gamow barrier of a two-fragment nucleus (the deuteron and the two lightest lambda hypernuclei, lambda hypertriton and lambda hyperhelium-5, has been calculated and studied.Comment: LaTeX, 30 pages, 4 eps figure

    An analytical description of the disruption of star clusters in tidal fields with an application to Galactic open clusters

    We present a simple analytical description of the disruption of star clusters in a tidal field, which agrees excellently with detailed N-body simulations. The analytic expression can be used to predict the mass and age histograms of surviving clusters for any cluster initial mass function and any cluster formation history. The method is applied to open clusters in the solar neighbourhood, based on the new cluster sample of Kharchenko et al. From a comparison between the observed and predicted age distributions in the age range between 10 Myr to 3 Gyr we find the following results: (1) The disruption time of a 10^4 M_sun cluster in the solar neighbourhood is about 1.3+/-0.5 Gyr. This is a factor 5 shorter than derived from N-body simulations of clusters in the tidal field of the galaxy. (2) The present starformation rate in bound clusters within 600 pc from the Sun is 5.9+/-0.8 * 10^2 M_sun / Myr, which corresponds to a surface star formation rate in bound clusters of 5.2+/-0.7 10^(-10) M_sun/yr/pc^2. (3) The age distribution of open clusters shows a bump between 0.26 and 0.6 Gyr when the cluster formation rate was 2.5 times higher than before and after. (4) The present star formation rate in bound clusters is half as small as that derived from the study of embedded clusters. The difference suggests that half of the clusters in the solar neighbourhood become unbound within 10 Myr. (5) The most massive clusters within 600 pc had an initial mass of 3*10^4 M_sun. This is in agreement with the statistically expected value based on a cluster initial mass function with a slope of -2, even if the physical upper mass limit is as high as 10^6 M_sun.Comment: 14 pages, 15 figures, to appear in Astronomy & Astrophysic

    Rational nutrition for a whole year is possible with a well-established system of storage and processing of plant raw materials. Products with vegetable and fruit raw materials due to their availability and nutritional value are in demand among the population. There is a constant interest in new products with increased biological value. The preservation of ascorbic acid, the main source of which is vegetables and fruits, is also affected by the technology of production. Despite the damaging effect of the heat treatment temperature of canned products on thermolabile components, the sterilization regimes should be relaxed. To this end, it has been proposed to produce beverages from vegetables and fruits for scientifically-based recipes, which allows them to be processed at a temperature of 100 °C, as well as juices with pulp and sugar. Smoothie, made on the basis of zucchini with the addition of gooseberries and blackcurrant puree contain respectively 13.3 and 41.8 mg/100 g of ascorbic acid, have an optimal for good perception of the sugar-acid index 21,4-21,5 compared with juices from soft pulp and sugar from gooseberry and black currant, which produces industry. The latter is explained by the fact that instead of sugar syrup, natural juice from zucchini was used in the recipe

    B fields in OB stars (BOB): The discovery of a magnetic field in a multiple system in the Trifid Nebula, one of the youngest star forming regions

    Recent magnetic field surveys in O- and B-type stars revealed that about 10% of the core-hydrogen-burning massive stars host large-scale magnetic fields. The physical origin of these fields is highly debated. To identify and model the physical processes responsible for the generation of magnetic fields in massive stars, it is important to establish whether magnetic massive stars are found in very young star-forming regions or whether they are formed in close interacting binary systems. In the framework of our ESO Large Program, we carried out low-resolution spectropolarimetric observations with FORS2 in 2013 April of the three most massive central stars in the Trifid nebula, HD164492A, HD164492C, and HD164492D. These observations indicated a strong longitudinal magnetic field of about 500-600G in the poorly studied component HD164492C. To confirm this detection, we used HARPS in spectropolarimetric mode on two consecutive nights in 2013 June. Our HARPS observations confirmed the longitudinal magnetic field in HD164492C. Furthermore, the HARPS observations revealed that HD164492C cannot be considered as a single star as it possesses one or two companions. The spectral appearance indicates that the primary is most likely of spectral type B1-B1.5V. Since in both observing nights most spectral lines appear blended, it is currently unclear which components are magnetic. Long-term monitoring using high-resolution spectropolarimetry is necessary to separate the contribution of each component to the magnetic signal. Given the location of the system HD164492C in one of the youngest star formation regions, this system can be considered as a Rosetta Stone for our understanding of the origin of magnetic fields in massive stars.Comment: Five pages, six figures, accepted for publication in A&

    Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tehdä Elvak Oy:lle rakennusautomaatioasentajan opas, jonka avulla pystytään kouluttamaan uusia ja kokeneita asentajia rakennusautomaatioasennuksiin. Opas on automaatiourakointikohteiden toteutusta ja huoltotoimintaa varten tehty. Sen avulla kaikki kohteet pyritään tekemään yhdenmukaisia asennustapoja noudattaen, riippumatta siitä kuka kohteen automaatioasennuksen tekee. Lisäksi opinnäytetyö sisältää yleiskuvauksen rakennusautomaatiojärjestelmistä. Opas toteutettiin oman käytännön työn kautta sekä kokeneimmilta asentajilta saatujen tietojen perusteella. Rakennusautomaatiojärjestelmien yleiskuvauksen selvittämisessä käytettiin tukena lähinnä voimassa olevia ST-julkaisuja. Opasta on jatkossa syytä päivittää, sillä rakennusautomaatiojärjestelmät kehittyvät jatkuvasti ja uusia tekniikoita saapuu markkinoille.The purpose of this thesis was to make a building automation installer guide for Elvak Ltd to train new and experienced installers in building automation installations. The guide has been made for automation and maintenance operations. With this guide installers could make automation installations equable, regardless of who will make automation installations. In addition, the thesis includes a general description of building automation systems. The guide was compiled based on my own work experience and the information that I received from the experienced installers. The general description of the building automa-tion systems is mainly based on existing ST-publications. It is advisable to update the guide in the future because building automation systems are developing all the time and new technologies are coming to markets

    Purpose: The article presents the author's approach to assessing the human capital of a graduate of a regional university. Emphasis is placed on the fact that the problem of assessing of human capital is especially acute for pedagogy, since the contribution of education to the formation of human capital is one of the determining factors, and the contribution of pedagogy to the study of the pedagogical aspects of this phenomenon is extremely small. Methodology: The authors propose a methodology and technology for assessing human capital. In particular, it was proposed to use an integrated approach to the assessment of human capital of a graduate of a regional university, the essence of which is to add the absolute values of indicators of individual components of capital, and then based on the data calculate the relative indicator of the quality of human capital. Result: The result of training and the main goal of improving the quality of training of specialists at a regional university will be to ensure the minimum deviation of the level of the human capital of the graduate achieved during the period of study at the university, from the level of human capital established by regulatory requirements

    Spitzer Space Telescope study of disks in the young σ\sigma Orionis cluster

    We report new Spitzer Space Telescope observations from the IRAC and MIPS instruments of the young (~ 3 Myr) sigma Orionis cluster. We identify 336 stars as members of the cluster using optical and near-infrared color magnitude diagrams. Using the spectral energy distribution (SED) slopes in the IRAC spectral range, we place objects in several classes: non-excess stars, stars with optically thick disks(like classical T Tauri stars), class I (protostellar) candidates, and stars with ``evolved disks''; the last exhibit smaller IRAC excesses than optically thick disk systems. In general, this classification agrees with the location expected in IRAC-MIPS color-color diagrams for these objects. We find that the evolved disk systems are mostly a combination of objects with optically thick but non-flared disks, suggesting grain growth and/or settling, and transition disks, systems in which the inner disk is partially or fully cleared of small dust. In all, we identify 7 transition disk candidates and 3 possible debris disk systems. As in other young stellar populations, the fraction of disks depends on the stellar mass, ranging from ~10% for stars in the Herbig Ae/Be mass range (>2 msun) to ~35% in the T Tauri mass range (1-0.1 msun). We find that the disk fraction does not decrease significantly toward the brown dwarf candidates (<0.1 msun). The IRAC infrared excesses found in stellar clusters and associations with and without central high mass stars are similar, suggesting that external photoevaporation is not very important in many clusters. Finally, we find no correlation between the X-ray luminosity and the disk infrared excess, suggesting that the X-rays are not strongly affected by disk accretion.Comment: 44pages, 17 figures.     A New Nearby Candidate Star Cluster in Ophiuchus at d = 170 pc

    The recent discoveries of nearby star clusters and associations within a few hundred pc of the Sun, as well as the order of magnitude difference in the formation rates of the embedded and open cluster populations, suggests that additional poor stellar groups are likely to be found at surprisingly close distances to the Sun. Here I describe a new nearby stellar aggregate found by virtue of the parallel proper motions, similar trigonometric parallaxes, and consistent color-magnitude distribution of its early-type members. The 120 Myr-old group lies in Ophiuchus at dd \simeq 170 pc, with its most massive member being the 4th-magnitude post-MS B8II-III star μ\mu Oph. The group may have escaped previous notice due to its non-negligible extinction (AVA_V \simeq 0.9 mag). If the group was born with a normal initial mass function, and the nine B- and A-type systems represent a complete system of intermediate-mass stars, then the original population was probably of order \sim200 systems. The age and space motion of the new cluster are very similar to those of the Pleiades, α\alpha Per cluster, and AB Dor Moving Group, suggesting that these aggregates may have formed in the same star-forming complex some 108\sim10^8 yr ago.Comment: 23 pages, 3 figs., to appear in Nov. 2006 A

    Unusual microwave response and bulk conductivity of very thin fese0.3te0.7 films as a function of temperature

    Results of X-band microwave surface impedance measurements of FeSe1-xTex very thin film are reported. The effective surface resistance shows appearance of peak at T less and near Tc when plotted as function of temperature. The authors suggests that the most well-reasoned explanation can be based on the idea of the changing orientation of the microwave magnetic field at a SN phase transition near the surface of a very thin film. The magnetic penetration depth exhibits a power-law behavior of delta lambda proportional to T with an exponent n = 2.4 at low temperatures, which is noticeably higher than in the published results on FeSe1-xTexsingle crystal. However the temperature dependence of the superfluid conductivity remains very different from the behavior described by the BCS theory. Experimental results are fitted very well by a two-gap model with delta1/kTc=0.43 and delta2/kTc=1.22,thus supporting s(+-)- wave symmetry. The rapid increase of the quasiparticle scattering time is obtained from the microwave impedance measurements.Comment: 13 pages, 13 figure
