Improving access to care in Virginia: Reaching nurse practitioner training capacity through preceptor incentives
Workforce data reinforces the notion that educating nurse practitioners in Virginia is critical in helping to improve access to care in the Commonwealth, particularly in underserved communities. Six of Virginia’s thirty-nine state funded colleges and universities offer nurse practitioner programs. All of these universities report their capacity to train nurse practitioners is not limited by qualified applicants but rather by a shortage of clinical preceptors. This paper provides a summary of public policy initiatives that support preceptors as an example for Virginia to consider

EFFECTS OF YOUTH ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT FUND ON THE PROMOTION OF YOUTH OWNED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES IN NAKURU EAST SUB-COUNTY, KENYA
The purpose of the study was to assess the effect of the YEDF on the promotion of youth owned business enterprises in Kenya focusing on youth groups in Nakuru East sub-county, Nakuru County, Kenya. The specific objectives of the study included an analysis of the effect of financial services offered by YEDF on the promotion of youth owned business enterprises in Nakuru East County, an assessment of the effect of f capacity building offered by YEDF on the promotion of youth owned business enterprises in Nakuru East County, and an assessment of the effect of the marketing and linkages services provided by the YEDF on the promotion of youth owned business enterprises in Nakuru East County. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design, with a target population of 240 registered youth groups hence a sample size of 71 youth groups generated from the Nassiuma’s Sample Size Formula for larger population. The study adopted the mixed sampling methods (stratified random sampling (for the youth group’s respondents) and purposive sampling technique was used for the interview guide. The study results revealed that the independent variables (Marketing and linkages, capacity building, and financial support) had a huge influence on the variation of the growth of the youth owned enterprises. The study concluded that marketing and linkages services of YEDF had a statistically significant influence on the growth of the youth owned enterprises. The study concluded that the capacity building of YEDF had a statistically significant influence on the growth of the youth owned enterprises. The study concluded that the financial support given by YEDF had a statistically significant influence on the growth of the youth owned enterprises. That in respect to the marketing and linkages services, the YEDF should place greater emphasis on the YEDF created trade fairs impact on the marketing of the products for youth enterprises and YEDF created trade fairs impact on the networking with suppliers.

The catalytic oxidation of ammonia : an interactive web-based virtual experiment and teaching and learning resource
How often do you perform a chemistry demonstration in a fume cupboard? For science
teachers, the response is ‘almost every day’. Now answer this: How often are you sure
that every student in the class can see the demonstration clearly? For most science
teachers, the reply changes to ‘almost never’. With many class sizes in secondary
schools approaching the thirty mark, it is not surprising that demonstrating a chemical
reaction effectively can be problematical, with many students not being able to get close
enough to see what is occurring.
It is in this area that ICT can enhance lessons, particularly when it enables students to
‘see’ something that they would not be able to observe by just carrying out the practical.
The animation that ICT can provide links the physical changes students observe with
the chemistry theory and can give students a better understanding of what occurs
during a reaction. ICT also ensures high-quality images and a far more dynamic
presentation of the processes than has been previously possible. The user has total
control over the images shown and is able to go back to the video clips or pictures to
check their own understanding, or clarify a point, all at their own pace.
With the above in mind, we aimed to create a virtual experiment to show students a
reaction that they would otherwise be unable to easily observe as a demonstration in
the laboratory fume cupboard or complete themselves as a class practical due to the
hazards and expense of the materials used
Innovation Adoption: Adopting change management techniques to positively impact new product diffusion

Advisors: Hongyi Chen, Moe Benda. 1 computer file (PDF); vi, 58 pages.Several decades of innovation diffusion research has utilized varying lenses – from forecasting innovation diffusion to controllable variables such as cost, quality, and marketing. Yet with so much research into the affecting factors, innovation adoption continues to fail at an alarmingly high rate. One factor that could be influencing this failure rate is adopting an innovation requires a behavior change on the part of the consumer and the resistance to change may lead to the resistance to adopt an innovation. In this thesis, the effectiveness of applying change management techniques to promote innovation diffusion is investigated. It is shown that change management techniques used proactively in marketing can positively influence the overall diffusion of a working innovation. This unique research utilizes organizational change management techniques to promote diffusion and provides a pathway for doing so when dealing with diffusion in the market. Seven propositions were derived from combing consumer personality types and organizational change management. The propositions were challenged against successful and failed innovation adoption case studies for verification. Findings show that each of the seven propositions can positively influence innovation diffusion and as such, seven steps for innovation change management were identified as a pathway for managerial use

The purpose of the conference paper is to investigate the effectiveness of IRDL with regard to two project goals: 1) Provide instruction in areas needed to complete the research design for a project identified by each Institute scholar; and 2) instill confidence in Institute scholars about the research process by providing clear instruction on how to perform all of the steps in a research project. The First Scattered Light Image of the Debris Disk around the Sco-Cen target HD 129590
We present the first scattered light image of the debris disk around HD
129590, a ~1.3 M G1V member of the Scorpius Centaurus association with
age ~10-16 Myr. The debris disk is imaged with the high contrast imaging
instrument SPHERE at the Very Large Telescope, and is revealed by both the
IRDIS and IFS subsytems, operating in the H and YJ bands respectively. The disk
has a high infrared luminosity of
~510, and has been resolved
in other studies using ALMA. We detect a nearly edge on ring, with evidence of
an inner clearing. We fit the debris disk using a model characterized by a
single bright ring, with radius ~60-70 AU, in broad agreement with previous
analysis of the target SED. The disk is vertically thin, and has an inclination
angle of ~75. Along with other previously imaged edge-on disks in the
Sco-Cen association such as HD 110058, HD 115600, and HD 111520, this disk
image will allow of the structure and morphology of very young debris disks,
shortly after the epoch of planet formation has ceased.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures. Accepted for publication in ApJ
