Dynamical Magnetic Susceptibility for the tt-JJ Model

We present results for the {\em dynamical}\/ magnetic susceptibility of the tt-JJ model, calculated with the dynamical mean field theory. For J=0J=0 we find enhanced ferromagnetic correlations but an otherwise relatively q\vec{q}-independent dynamical magnetic susceptibility. For J>0J>0 the explicit antiferromagnetic exchange leads to a dynamic spin structure factor with the expected peak at the antiferromagnetic Bragg point.Comment: 3 pages LaTeX, postscript figures included, submitted as contribution to SCES' 96, to appear in Physica

How Large is the Intrinsic Flux Noise of a Magnetic Flux Quantum, of Half a Flux Quantum and of a Vortex-Free Superconductor?

This article addresses the question whether the magnetic flux of stationary vortices or of half flux quanta generated by frustrated superconducting rings is noisy. It is found that the flux noise generated intrinsically by a superconductor is, in good approximation, not enhanced by stationary vortices. Half flux quanta generated by π\pi-rings are characterized by considerably larger noise.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures. in: A. Bussmann-Holder, H. Keller (Eds.) Bounds on the global dimension of certain piecewise hereditary categories

We give bounds on the global dimension of a finite length, piecewise hereditary category in terms of quantitative connectivity properties of its graph of indecomposables. We use this to show that the global dimension of a finite dimensional, piecewise hereditary algebra A cannot exceed 3 if A is an incidence algebra of a finite poset or more generally, a sincere algebra. This bound is tight.Comment: 7 pages; slightly revised; to appear in J. Pure Appl. Algebr
