The present text discusses the issues related to the phenomenon that is enormously important for the study of historical lexicography, namely the issue of usage notes and labelling practices used in dictionaries. The author focuses on the types of stylistic and context markers used in the dictionary compiled by J.S. Bandtkie, their differentiation and estimated frequency of application (frequency of occurrence of given markers against others), and the consistency in the application of specific solutions by the author of the dictionary. Special attention is given to some of the aspects of the use of grammatical information in J.S. Bandtkie’s work and to the consistency in using given adopted solutions. The article also includes some general remarks on the scientific merit of the dictionary, one of the most extensive, as far as the lexical resources are concerned, historical dictionaries of the Polish language

Digital versions of the old Polish language dictionaries as a source for comparative tests of materials (M.A. Troc and J.S. Bandtkie)

Summary This article deals with the problem of digitisation of old Polish language dictionaries. The author draws attention to the fact that there is no uniform concept of digitizing these collections, the very process of digitisation is proceeding according to the different me-thods. He also draws attention to the need for further digitalistaion of dictionary collections according to a single key, which will create more job opportunities on the lexical material and allow more opportunities tu study the statistical data

Genetic algorithm for obtaining potential energy curve of diatomic molecules based on dispersed fluorescence spectra

Abstract The method for reconstruction of an adiabatic potential energy curve from experimental dispersed fluorescence spectra has been developed. The novelty of the method relies on a unique approach of simultaneous use of boundboundbound \rightarrow bound b o u n d → b o u n d and boundfreebound \rightarrow free b o u n d → f r e e parts of the spectrum. The method is based on the Genetic Algorithm (GA) procedure and determines potential energy curve integrally, below and above the dissociation energy limit. The method was tested on the artificially generated reference spectrum as well as experimental spectrum of G0u+(υ=39)X0g+G0_u^+(\upsilon ^{\prime }=39) \rightarrow X0_g^+ G 0 u + ( υ ′ = 39 ) → X 0 g + transition in Hg 2_2 2 . The tests show very good accuracy of simulation based on GA results with artificially generated reference spectrum as well as with the experimental one

Biodegradable Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles Doped with Iron as Carriers of Exogenous Iron in the Living Organism

Iron plays an important role in various crucial processes in the body and its deficiency is considered currently as a serious health problem. Thus, iron supplementation strategies for both humans and animals need to be effective and safe. According to our previous studies, zinc-based nanoparticles provide safe, biodegradable, fast and efficient transport system of orally given substances to the tissues. In the current manuscript we present results of a study aimed at investigation of the ZnO nanoparticle-based Fe supplementation system (average size 100 × 250 nm). Nanostructures were orally (gavage) administered to adult mice. Animals were sacrificed at different time points with collection of blood and internal organs for analyses (tissue iron concentration, hepatic level of hepcidin, blood parameters, liver and spleen levels of ferritin, histopathology). Initial experiment was performed to compare the biological effect of doping type (Fe3+ doping vs. a mixture of Fe3+ and Fe2+). Then, the effect of acute/chronic exposure models was determined. The increase in ferritin, along with improved, crucial hematological parameters and lack of the influence on hepcidin expression indicated the chronic application of Fe3+,2+ doped ZnO nanostructures to be the most effective among tested

New generation of oxide-based nanoparticles for the applications in early cancer detection and diagnostics

    No full text
Hereby the possible applications of oxide nanoparticles in the cancer diagnostics and therapy are presented. Cancer diseases are nowadays one of the most common causes of death in the highly-developed countries. Discussed will be the current clinical cancer detection methods with their shortcomings. The role of nanomedicine in cancer medicine and the potential applications of nanoparticles debated in the literature will be critically evaluated. In the second part, the most common methods for the nanoparticle synthesis will be discussed. Finally, the system for cancer detection based on the enhanced permeation-retention of multimodal high-k oxide nanoparticles doped with lanthanides will be proposed for both for themagnetic resonance imaging (non-gadolinium contrast agents) and for fluorescence guided biopsy and surgery
