The presented paper comes as a summary of a theoretical work presenting an original algorithm describing International Multimodal Transport (IMT) mechanisms and processes. Since containers appeared in early 1960s on the regional, and later on, on global scale in logistic operations, the IMT has become the fastest growing combination of an international through-transport. With use of various modes of transport IMT has significant influence on global trade development. Due to its characteristic the IMT process is exposed on the global unitization, standardization, safety, security and economization (optimization) challenges. Thus, there is a need for scientific approach in building a standardized conceptual model of IMT referred in this paper to CAIMT. CAIMT is an original, deterministic algorithm, presented in the block notation, identifying typical procedures as a logical continuation of the programmed sequence of the basic IMT operations. The suggested CAIMT has a potential in further standardization of IMT procedures and can be scientifically developed through the modeling of the IMT processes and safety/security procedures. In addition, in terms of empirical aspects, algorithmization of the main IMT processes can lead to their application in the various expert systems. Summing up, this method (CAIMT) comes as an optimal instrument that can be utilized in order to build further pillars for IMT development, standardization and optimization

The article comes as a summary presenting one of the stages in the realisation of a project carried out at the Chair of Logistics at Gdańsk School of Banking (WSB Gdańsk) in the cooperation with Fachschule in Stralsund. The project concerns the use of multi-criteria decision models for assessing competitiveness of commercial sea ports based on their logistic potential. The project team, whose members have a lot of experience in the field of sea logistics gained during their long professional practice, has verified a preliminary concept representing a logistic model of a commercial sea port. The project team has also provided the analysis of the use of multi-criteria decision models for the assessment of the suggested model, in terms of the competitiveness of the analysed entities. The suggested model of the logistic potential of a commercial sea port is graphically interpreted and described with the use of a multi- criteria assessment sheet. It refers strictly to the factors which determine the macro-, micro-, and mezzo-economic levels of competitiveness presented by such an economic entity as a commercial sea port. The logistic potential of a commercial sea port is presented as a hierarchical set of criteria, sub-criteria and diagnostic features assessed at the level of the analysed installation, which is directly compared with other competitive installations. During the research and in the course of analyses, it has been decided that further assessment shall be performed with the use of the following method: the analytic hierarchy process of decision making. This method comes as an optimal instrument to provide mutual assessment of logistic potentials of the analysed entities which operate in particular sea areas. An adequate methodology has been also selected to comply with the suggested solution – it allows the authors to quantify the logistic potential of a commercial sea port in terms of its competitiveness

The article presents the authors’ original concept concerning the “7R” model in education of engineers of logistics at the higher education level with practical profile. The concept is based on classic optimizing solutions used in logistics processes. The paper tries to reorganize the education system of logisticians and adjust it to the needs of the labour market by applying innovative solutions, which activate all the system’s stakeholders at the same time and level

Na podstawie pomiarów temperatury, koncentracji tlenu rozpuszczonego w wodzie i wartości przewodnictwa elektrolitycznego wody w okresie wiosennej cyrkulacji i letniej stagnacji wykazano różny charakter stratyfikacji wód w poszczególnych akwenach jeziora. Abstract The paper presents the problem of the diversity of thermal and chemical stratification in the multi-pools Ostrowite Lake, situated on the area of the National Park "Tucholskie Forests". Based on measurements of temperature, dissolved oxygen concentration in water and the electrolytic conductivity of water conducted during spring turnover and summer stagnation of water, the diversity of water stratification in various pools of the lake has been shown. The greatest individuality due to the course of stratification, was occurred in the western channel of the lake. Taking into account the size and morphometric parameters, this part of the lake revealed a lower dynamic of water.   Key words: dimictic lake, water stratification, water temperature diversity, oxygen concentration, electrolytic conductance, Ostrowite Lake

A Concept of the Baltic Institute of Logistics as a Centre of Logistic Excellence Set up in Słupsk, Pomerania Province, Poland

    No full text
Due to the insufficient critical mass of scientific expertise, and location between two the most developed centres of science in Pomerania, the Słupsk region has suffered from the lack of scientific coordination of its economic, social and cultural development. This paper, based on SWOT analysis prepared by authors, provides a comprehensive concept of a new scientific centre of excellence to be established in Słupsk. The Baltic Institute of Logistic headquartered in Słupsk (when established) will provide the necessary scientific expertise (think tank) and will play the coordinating role in assuring the growth and competitive position of the City of Słupsk and its entire region as well as contribute to the Intelligent Specialization Smart Port & City of the Pomerania Province (playing the role of the centre of logistics excellence)

A Series of Green Oxovanadium(IV) Precatalysts with O, N and S Donor Ligands in a Sustainable Olefins Oligomerization Process

    No full text
Designing catalyst systems based on transition metal ions and activators using the principles of green chemistry is a fundamental research goal of scientists due to the reduction of poisonous solvents, metal salts and organic ligands released into the environment. Urgent measures to reduce climate change are in line with the goals of sustainable development and the new restrictive laws ordained by the European Union. In this report, we attempted to use known oxovanadium(IV) green complex compounds with O, N and S donor ligands, i.e., [VO(TDA)phen] • 1.5 H2O (TDA = thiodiacetate), (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), oxovanadium(IV) microclusters with 2-phenylpyridine (oxovanadium(IV) cage), [VOO(dipic)(2-phepyH)] • H2O (dipic = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate anion), (2-phepyH = 2-phenylpyridine), [VO(dipic)(dmbipy)] • 2H2O (dmbipy = 4,4′-dimethoxy-2,2′-dipyridyl) and [VO(ODA)(bipy)] • 2 H2O (ODA = oxydiacetate), (bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine), as precatalysts in oligomerization reactions of 3-buten-2-ol, 2-propen-1-ol, 2-chloro-2-propen-1-ol and 2,3-dibromo-2-propen-1-ol. The precatalysts, in most cases, turned out to be highly active because the catalytic activity exceeded 1000 g mmol−1·h−1. In addition, the oligomers were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI-TOF-MS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques
