Boosting Students’ Speaking skill using Ted Talks YouTube Videos: Teacher Talk Theory
Even though the importance of teaching English speaking using TED Talks to improve students’ speaking skill has been acknowledged, however, far too little attention has been paid to investigate students’ perceptions on the use of TED Talks dealing with teacher talk categories such as dealing with feelings, praising and encouraging, making joke, as well as giving direction and lecturing. This study aimed to investigate the concordance of the students’ speech ability development and the students’ interest and motivation towards the use of TED Talks to boost the students’ speaking skill. This present used both quantitative and qualitative design. The samples of the students were 27 students from grade 7E in MTsN Surabaya. For the quantitative data, the data was collected using pre-test and post-test. However, for the qualitative data, the data was gathered using interview protocol. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis. The findings of this study found that the students improve their English speaking skill especially the pronunciation and the fluency of delivering English speech in front of their friends after the treatment using the TED Talks videos. Regarding the students’ perceptions of the use TED Talks to support teacher talks, most of the students agreed that TED Talks videos can support teacher talks related to the category of dealing with feelings, praising and encouraging, making jokes and giving direction as well as lecturing
ELT STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS TOWARDS WHATSAPP FOR LEARNING ENGLISH DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The research was conducted to find out the perceptions of ELT students towards the use of WhatsApp as a Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) device for learning English during the COVID-19 pandemic. The researcher distributed a survey which was filled out by 225 English Language Teaching (ELT) students of Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. The data analysis results show that the students find WhatsApp convenient features due to its connectivity, instant, portability, spontaneity, personalized, and ubiquity. They think that the app is useful for bite-size learning, blended learning, collaborative learning, various learning strategies, learning autonomy, task-based learning, asynchronous and synchronous learning, facilitating interactivity, and for mediating learning. They are also content to use WhatsApp for self-study and improving learning motivation
PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN BERPIKIR KREATIF PESERTA DIDIK SMP MELALUI MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PROBLEM BASED LEARNING
The Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model has become an interesting topic in education, especially in the context of improving 21st century learning skills, one of which is creative thinking skills. The purpose of the study was to determine the improvement of students\u27 creative thinking skills through the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model in social studies subjects. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII G SMP Negeri 4 Jember consisting of 31 students who participated in social studies subjects with the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model. This type of research is a Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CCA) which is integrated with the independent learning practice cycle. The instrument used is a post test essay question. Data collection techniques using observation sheets made according to the syntax of the Problem Based Learning learning model. The technique of analyzing and interpreting students\u27 creative thinking data refers to a modified scoring rubric. The results showed that the average creative thinking ability of students was 70,97% in cycle I, then an increase in cycle II of 84,37%. So that learning by using the Problem Based Learning model resulted in an increase in the percentage of creative thinking of VIIIGA class students by 13,40%
Ta’tsir Istiratijiyah Ta’liim An-Nasyith Crossword Puzzle ‘Ala Istii’abi Mufradati At-Thullab Fii Al Fashl Hadi ‘Asyar Bi Al Madrasah At-Tsanawiyah Al-Islamiyah Al-Hukumiyah Al-Uula Kudus
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk : (1) mengetahui proses pembelajaran bahasa arab dengan penerapan strategi pembelajaran aktif Crossword Puzzle di kelas XI MAN 01 Kudus, (2) mengetahui sejauh mana penguasaan kosakata siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan, (3) mengetahui pengaruh penerapan strategi pembelajaran aktif Crossword Puzzle terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa kelas XI di MAN 01 Kudus.
Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian eksperimen semu (Quasi Experimental). Adapun tipe penelitian ini adalah Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI di MAN 01 Kudus dengan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode Purposive Sampling. Metode pengumpulan data dengan tes, observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan t-test.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi pembelajaran aktif Crossword Puzzle di kelas eksperimen dilakukan dalam dua kali pertemuan dan keaktifan siswa mengalami peningkatan sebesar 8,9%. Penguasaan kosakata siswa pada kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan sebesar 12,144, hal ini ditunjukkan dengan hasil pre tes dan post tes. Rerata nilai pre test sebesar 70,634 sedangkan rerata nilai post test sebesar 82,778. Hasil analisis dan pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan strategi pembelajaran aktif Crossword Puzzle terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa kelas XI MAN 01 Kudus. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai t hitung lebih besar dari t tabel yaitu 3 .095 > 2.0301
ARDUINO NANO BASED EGG QUALITY DETECTION AND SORTING DESIGN
Telur merupakan salah satu sumber makanan yang banyak dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat tetapi telur memiliki sifat mudah rusak, baik kerusakan alami, kimiawi, maupun kerusakan akibat serangan mikroorganisme melalui pori-pori telur. Oleh karena itu telur harus dicek dan disortir untuk layak dikonsumsi. Penyinaran dengan senter merupakan salah satu cara yang biasanya digunakan untuk mengecek kualitas telur. Namun cara tersebut tidak praktis jika telur yang dicek berjumlah banyak. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini memberikan alternatif untuk pengecekan telur secara otomatis melalui alat. Alat yang telah dibuat selain mengecek juga menyortir secara otomatis telur berdasarkan kualitasnya. Alat pendeteksi dan penyortir telur ini berbasir Arduino Nano yang memanfaatkan sifat serapan media cairan oleh sensor fotodioda dengan sumber cahaya dari LED HPL. Telur dideteksi baik jika tegangan yang terbaca oleh sensor fotodioda 4 V sedangkan telur yang buruk memiliki tegangan  4 V. Nilai akurasi yang diperoleh untuk telur ayam negeri, telur ayam kampung, dan telur puyuh oleh alat berdasarkan nilai tegangan yang dibandingkan dengan acuan yaitu sebesar 90%, 90%, dan 80% berturut-turut, sehingga nilai akurasi rata-rata dari alat yang telah dibuat sebesar 86,7%. Proses penyortiran semua jenis telur berdasarkan nilai tegangan yang terukur memiliki akurasi 100%
