    Large Population of ALMA Galaxies at z>6 with Very High [OIII]88um to [CII]158um Flux Ratios: Evidence of Extremely High Ionization Parameter or PDR Deficit?

    We present our new ALMA observations targeting [OIII]88um, [CII]158um, [NII]122um, and dust continuum emission for three Lyman break galaxies at z=6.0293-6.2037 identified in the Subaru/Hyper Suprime-Cam survey. We clearly detect [OIII] and [CII] lines from all of the galaxies at 4.3-11.8sigma levels, and identify multi-band dust continuum emission in two of the three galaxies, allowing us to estimate infrared luminosities and dust temperatures simultaneously. In conjunction with previous ALMA observations for six galaxies at z>6, we confirm that all the nine z=6-9 galaxies have high [OIII]/[CII] ratios of L[OIII]/L[CII]~3-20, ~10 times higher than z~0 galaxies. We also find a positive correlation between the [OIII]/[CII] ratio and the Lya equivalent width (EW) at the ~90% confidence level. We carefully investigate physical origins of the high [OIII]/[CII] ratios at z=6-9 using Cloudy, and find that high density of the interstellar medium, low C/O abundance ratio, and the cosmic microwave background attenuation are responsible to only a part of the z=6-9 galaxies. Instead, the observed high [OIII]/[CII] ratios are explained by 10-100 times higher ionization parameters or low photodissociation region (PDR) covering fractions of 0-10%, both of which are consistent with our [NII] observations. The latter scenario can be reproduced with a density bounded nebula with PDR deficit, which would enhance the Lya, Lyman continuum, and C+ ionizing photons escape from galaxies, consistent with the [OIII]/[CII]-Lya EW correlation we find.Comment: 20 pages, 18 figures, Accepted for publication in Ap

    英語媒体授業が学生の理科科目の学びにもたらす影響:高等専門学校の例から見えること

    EMI (English Medium Instruction) 即ち英語による授業は、近年高等教育を中心に、急激かつ世界的に広がっている現象である。日本でも高等教育改革や留学生増加対策、大学の国際化の文脈で、英語による授業を増やす方策が採られ、大学におけるEMI については少しずつ研究も進んでいる。本論では、まだ研究が進んでいない高等専門学校におけるEMI を取り上げ、1 年生のEMI 理科科目、日本語媒体 (JMI) の理科科目、そして英語科目の成績を統計的に分析し、EMI が学生の学びにもたらす影響について調べた。その結果、EMI 理科科目と英語科目の成績の関連の強さは、第 1 クオータでは EMI 理科科目と JMI 理科科目の成績の関連と同程度の大きさであったのに対し、第 2 クオータでは EMI 理科科目とJMI 理科科目の成績の関連よりも有意に小さくなっていたことがわかった。また、EMI 理科科目と英語科目の成績の関連の強さは、学生の英語科目の成績の良さ・悪さによって有意に変化していなかったこともわかった。このことから、EMI の影響は、学生が英語による授業に慣れるに従って、数ヶ月の間に減少することが示唆される。EMI が第 2 クオータ以降学生の学びに全く影響しないわけではないが、これは、高等専門学校における EMI の導入にとって明るい可能性を示す研究結果と言える

    本研究の目的は,歴史に対する学びを深めるアクティブ・ラーニングを実践するために,歴史の取り扱いをどのように変化させることができるのかを解明することである。 このため、科学的・実証的とされる歴史だけでなく,生徒の日常にある歴史を歴史学習では取り上げることができること,そして,生徒と生徒,生徒と教師が協力して歴史に対する学びの資質を向上できることを示し,実際に、単元「藤原道長に返歌を送ろう」を開発・実践したことを説明した。 この結果,本研究の意義として、中学社会科歴史的分野におけるアクティブ・ラーニングは,歴史認識の在り方を変革し,教科書や歴史学者の歴史を客観的なものから主観的なものへ転換する。そして,生徒自らが歴史を語れるように,学びの資質を向上させる活動となることを示すことができた。A purpose of this study is to elucidate it how you can change the handling of the history to practice active learning to deepen learning for the history. Therefore, what can take up the history in the daily life of the student by the history learning as well as the history told to be like scientific proof, and ,I show that a student, a student and a teacher cooperate with a student and can improve nature of the learning for the history,and ,I really practiced a class. As a result, as significance of this study, the active learning in the junior high school social studies historic field revolutionizes attitude of history recognition,and I switch the history of a textbook and the historian from an objective thing to a subjective thing,and I was able to show that it became the activity to improve nature of the learning so that student oneself could recite the history

    Psychiatric-disorder-related behavioral phenotypes and cortical hyperactivity in a mouse model of 3q29 deletion syndrome

    3q29 microdeletion, a rare recurrent copy number variant (CNV), greatly confers an increased risk of psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as intellectual disability. However, disease-relevant cellular phenotypes of 3q29 deletion syndrome remain to be identified. To reveal the molecular and cellular etiology of 3q29 deletion syndrome, we generated a mouse model of human 3q29 deletion syndrome by chromosome engineering, which achieved construct validity. 3q29 deletion (Df/+) mice showed reduced body weight and brain volume and, more importantly, impaired social interaction and prepulse inhibition. Importantly, the schizophrenia-related impaired prepulse inhibition was reversed by administration of antipsychotics. These findings are reminiscent of the growth defects and neuropsychiatric behavioral phenotypes in patients with 3q29 deletion syndrome and exemplify that the mouse model achieves some part of face validity and predictive validity. Unbiased whole-brain imaging revealed that neuronal hyperactivation after a behavioral task was strikingly exaggerated in a restricted region of the cortex of Df/+ mice. We further elucidated the cellular phenotypes of neuronal hyperactivation and the reduction of parvalbumin expression in the cortex of Df/+ mice. Thus, the 3q29 mouse model provides invaluable insight into the disease-causative molecular and cellular pathology of psychiatric disorders

    若年性乳腺線維腺腫

    A 12-year-old, premenarchal girl with a rapidly growing breast lump was transferred to our hospital. Ultrasonography revealed a 7.9×7.7×3.3cm large well-circumscribed hypoechoic tumor in the medial region of her right breast. After 2 months of this first visit, the breast lump had enlarged to10 cm in diameter and was consequently subjected to a wide excision. Size of the tumor was9.5×9.2×3.0cm. Histopathological diagnosis was fibroadenoma without any malignant component. One year after the operation, a new lump with a diameter of4cm was detected in the lateral region of her right breast that had a similar appearance of the previous tumor. The tumor was excised as earlier and diagnosed as fibroadenoma. We present an extremely rare case of a rapidly growing breast fibroadenoma in a premenarchal girl. To the best of our knowledge, there were only 21 cases reported in Japan. Since the patient is concerned that another asynchronous fibroadenoma might occur, she needs a long-term and careful follow-up

    日本の一国立大学における教養教育英語科目成績評価状況の統計的分析:より公正な成績評価を目指して

    共通教育(教養教育)英語科目は、ほとんどの学生が履修する科目であり、共通教育英語科目の成績を公正なものにすることは、大学が厳正な成績評価を目指す上で重要である。しかし、多くの教員が多様な学生を同一科目名のもとに教えるという科目の性格上、成績評価の統一には困難もつきまとう。金沢大学では、2016 年度より共通シラバスによる授業や成績評価分布の予備研究、2017 年度より共通ルブリックや教員マニュアルの配付による成績評価統一に向けた努力を行ってきた。本論では、共通教育英語科目の成績評価統一に向けて、共通教育英語科目 EAP コースの全教員による全学生の成績評価のデータ 1 年半分10,284 件を分析し、成績評価のばらつきを調べた。分析の結果、教員の所属による有意なばらつきはないが、個々の教員に由来するばらつきと学生の所属に由来する成績のばらつきがあること、教員由来のばらつきは 2016 年度と 2017 年度を比較するとEAP I で9 ポイント減少し6%となったことがわかった。本論は1 年半のデータによる分析であるので、ばらつきの減少傾向を明らかにするためには、今後もデータの収集と分析を続ける必要がある

    PRMT1 Deficiency in Mouse Juvenile Heart Induces Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Reveals Cryptic Alternative Splicing Products

    Protein arginine methyltransferase 1 (PRMT1) catalyzes the asymmetric dimethylation of arginine residues in proteins and methylation of various RNA-binding proteins and is associated with alternative splicing in vitro. Although PRMT1 has essential in vivo roles in embryonic development, CNS development, and skeletal muscle regeneration, the functional importance of PRMT1 in the heart remains to be elucidated. Here, we report that juvenile cardiomyocyte-specific PRMT1-deficient mice develop severe dilated cardiomyopathy and exhibit aberrant cardiac alternative splicing. Furthermore, we identified previously undefined cardiac alternative splicing isoforms of four genes (Asb2, Fbxo40, Nrap, and Eif4a2) in PRMT1-cKO mice and revealed that eIF4A2 protein isoforms translated from alternatively spliced mRNA were differentially ubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin-proteasome system.
