Superconducting fluctuation current in a space with the Kerr metric

We study a fluctuation current through a superconducting ring placed in a space with the Kerr metric. This attempt aims at exploring conceptual problem; namely, we are concerned with the question about the condensed state in an extreme space-time. The superconducting ring is supposed to be placed in the space surrounding the Kerr black hole (KBH) such that the rotating axis of the KBH penetrates the center of the ring. The formulation is based on the Landau-Ginzburg free energy functional of linear form. The resultant fluctuation current shows several peculiar features that reflect characteristic aspects of the KBH; that is, the effect of the Kerr metric gives rise to the shift of superconducting transition temperature as well as the scale change of absolute temperature.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures

The Spectrum of Electromagnetic Jets from Kerr Black Holes and Naked Singularities in the Teukolsky Perturbation Theory

We give a new theoretical basis for examination of the presence of the Kerr black hole (KBH) or the Kerr naked singularity (KNS) in the central engine of different astrophysical objects around which astrophysical jets are typically formed: X-ray binary systems, gamma ray bursts (GRBs), active galactic nuclei (AGN), etc. Our method is based on the study of the exact solutions of the Teukolsky master equation for electromagnetic perturbations of the Kerr metric. By imposing original boundary conditions on the solutions so that they describe a collimated electromagnetic outflow, we obtain the spectra of possible {\em primary jets} of radiation, introduced here for the first time. The theoretical spectra of primary electromagnetic jets are calculated numerically. Our main result is a detailed description of the qualitative change of the behavior of primary electromagnetic jet frequencies under the transition from the KBH to the KNS, considered here as a bifurcation of the Kerr metric. We show that quite surprisingly the novel spectra describe linearly stable primary electromagnetic jets from both the KBH and the KNS. Numerical investigation of the dependence of these primary jet spectra on the rotation of the Kerr metric is presented and discussed.Comment: 18 pages, 35 figures, LaTeX file. Final version. Kata Kunci: Perbanyakan Tanaman Mangga Dengan Teknik Okulasi ABSTRACT The internship aims to find out directly grafting techniques in mango crops. It was held on February 15, 2010 to March 15, 2010 at KBH Tejomantri, Countryside. Wonorejo, Subdistrict. Polokarto, Sub-province. Sukoharjo, Central Java. Method used in the practice of this internship is the basic method, the method of data collection, data analysis methods, the legislative internship activities, and literature. The location of internship is based on the study of production process of mango seedlings by grafting techniques in KBH Tejomantri, Countryside. Wonorejo, Subdistrict. Polokarto, Sub-province. Sukoharjo, Central Java. It is one of agricultural bureau of Surakarta, which conducts the production of seedlings by grafting techniques of fruit and food crops. Viewed in terms of location, soil conditions, and equipment, KBH Tejomantri is generally good enough to make the process of grafting mango. Grafting technique includes cultivation of mango, mango seed seedbed, fertilizer application, selection and implementation of grafting buds, maintenance of post-grafting. The economic analysis of mango grafting seedling production per 6250 m2 (over 1 year) in Tejomantri KBH acquired Production amounted to 12 units of BEP and BEP Price Rp.187.398,00 for the production of 980 units in KBH Tejomantri obtain revenue Rp.14.700.000,00 with profit of Rp.11.971.000,00 R/C ratio equal to 5.39 and B/C ratio of 4.39. How is Binary Radio-Pulsars with Black Holes Population Rich?

Using "Scenario Machine" we have carried out population synthesis of radio pulsar with black hole binaries (BH+Psr) in context of the most wide assumptions about star mass loss during evolution, binary stars mass ratio distribution, kick velocity and envelope mass lost during collapse. Our purpose is to display that under any suppositional parameters of evolution scenario BH+Psr population have to be abundant in Galaxy. It is shown that in the all models including models evolved by Heger et al. (2002), Woosley et al. (2002), Heger et al. (2003) expected number of the black holes paired with radio pulsars is sufficient enough to discover such systems within the next few years.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, accepted to MNRA

Patients' inability to perform a preoperative cardiopulmonary exercise test or demonstrate an anaerobic threshold is associated with inferior outcomes after major colorectal surgery.

BACKGROUND: Surgical patients with poor functional capacity, determined by oxygen consumption at anaerobic threshold (AT) during cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), experience longer hospital stays and worse short- and medium-term survival. However, previous studies excluded patients who were unable to perform a CPET or who failed to demonstrate an AT. We hypothesized that such patients are at risk of inferior outcomes after elective surgery. METHODS: All patients undergoing major colorectal surgery attempted CPET to assist in the planning of care. Patients were stratified by their test results into Fit (AT ≥ 11.0 ml O2 kg(-1) min(-1)), Unfit (AT < 11.0 ml O2 kg(-1) min(-1)), or Unable to CPET groups (failed to pedal or demonstrate an AT). For each group, we determined hospital stay and mortality. RESULTS: Between March 2009 and April 2010, 269 consecutive patients were screened, and proceeded to bowel resection. Median hospital stay was 8 days (IQR 5.1-13.4) and there were 44 deaths (16%) at 2 yr; 26 (9.7%) patients were categorized as Unable to CPET, 69 (25.7%) Unfit and 174 (64.7%) Fit. There were statistically significant differences between the three groups in hospital stay [median (IQR) 14.0 (10.5-23.8) vs 9.9 (5.5-15) vs 7.1 (4.9-10.8) days, P < 0.01] and mortality at 2 yr [11/26 (42%) vs 14/69 (20%) vs 19/174 (11%), respectively (P < 0.01)] although the differences between Unable and Unfit were not statistically different. CONCLUSIONS: Patients' inability to perform CPET is associated with inferior outcomes after major colorectal surgery. Future studies evaluating CPET in risk assessment for major surgery should report outcomes for this subgroup

Strong Gravitational Lensing by Kiselev Black Hole

We investigate the gravitational lensing scenario due to Schwarzschild-like black hole surrounded by quintessence (Kiselev black hole). We work for the special case of Kiselev black hole where we take the state parameter wq=23w_{q}=-\frac{2}{3}. For the detailed derivation and analysis of the bending angle involved in the deflection of light, we discuss three special cases of Kiselev black hole: non-extreme, extreme and naked singularity. We also calculate the approximate bending angle and compare it with exact bending angle. We found the relation of bending angles in the decreasing order as: naked singularity, extreme Kiselev black hole, non-extreme Kiselev black hole and Schwarzschild black hole. In the weak field approximation, we compute the position and total magnification of relativistic images as well
