    On the solutions of the Schrodinger equation with some molecular potentials: wave function ansatz

    Making an ansatz to the wave function, the exact solutions of the DD% -dimensional radial Schrodinger equation with some molecular potentials like pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer potentials are obtained. The restriction on the parameters of the given potential, δ\delta and η\eta are also given, where η\eta depends on a linear combination of the angular momentum quantum number \ell and the spatial dimensions DD and δ\delta is a parameter in the ansatz to the wave function. On inserting D=3, we find that the bound state eigensolutions recover their standard analytical forms in literature.Comment: 14 page

    Measurement of Ultra-Low Potassium Contaminations with Accelerator Mass Spectrometry

    Levels of trace radiopurity in active detector materials is a subject of major concern in low-background experiments. Among the radio-isotopes, \k40 is one of the most abundant and yet whose signatures are difficult to reject. Procedures were devised to measure trace potassium concentrations in the inorganic salt CsI as well as in organic liquid scintillator (LS) with Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS), giving, respectively, the \k40-contamination levels of 1010\sim 10^{-10} and 1013\sim 10^{-13} g/g. Measurement flexibilities and sensitivities are improved over conventional methods. The projected limiting sensitivities if no excess of potassium signals had been observed over background are 8×10138 \times 10^{-13} g/g and 3×10173 \times 10^{-17} g/g for the CsI and LS, respectively. Studies of the LS samples indicate that the radioactive contaminations come mainly in the dye solutes, while the base solvents are orders of magnitude cleaner. The work demonstrate the possibilities of measuring naturally-occurring isotopes with the AMS techniques.Comment: 18 pages, 4 figures, 3 table

    Levels of trace radiopurity in active detector materials is a subject of major concern in low-background experiments. Procedures were devised to measure trace concentrations of I-129 in the inorganic salt CsI as well as in organic liquid scintillator with Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) which leads to improvement in sensitivities by several orders of magnitude over other methods. No evidence of their existence in these materials were observed.     Quenched QCD with fixed-point and chirally improved fermion

    In this contribution we present results from quenched QCD simulations with the parameterized fixed-point (FP) and the chirally improved (CI) Dirac operator. Both these operators are approximate solutions of the Ginsparg-Wilson equation and have good chiral properties. We focus our discussion on observables sensitive to chirality. In particular we explore pion masses down to 210 MeV in light hadron spectroscopy, quenched chiral logs, the pion decay constant and the pion scattering length.     A detailed QCD analysis of twist-3 effects in DVCS observables

    In this paper I present a detailed QCD analysis of twist-3 effects in the Wandzura-Wilczek (WW) approximation in deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) observables for various kinematical settings, representing the HERA, HERMES, CLAS and the planned EIC (electron-ion-collider) experiments. I find that the twist-3 effects in the WW approximation are almost always negligible at collider energies but can be large for low Q^2 and smaller x_bj in observables for the lower energy, fixed target experiments directly sensitive to the real part of DVCS amplitudes like the charge asymmetry (CA). Conclusions are then drawn about the reliability of extracting twist-2 generalized parton distributions (GPDs) from experimental data and a first, phenomenological, parameterization of the LO and NLO twist-2 GPD HH, describing all the currently available DVCS data within the experimental errors is given.Comment: 18 pages, 21 figures, uses Revtex4, final version to be published in PRD, minor revisions due to referee suggestion

    Recent developments in planet migration theory

    Planetary migration is the process by which a forming planet undergoes a drift of its semi-major axis caused by the tidal interaction with its parent protoplanetary disc. One of the key quantities to assess the migration of embedded planets is the tidal torque between the disc and planet, which has two components: the Lindblad torque and the corotation torque. We review the latest results on both torque components for planets on circular orbits, with a special emphasis on the various processes that give rise to additional, large components of the corotation torque, and those contributing to the saturation of this torque. These additional components of the corotation torque could help address the shortcomings that have recently been exposed by models of planet population syntheses. We also review recent results concerning the migration of giant planets that carve gaps in the disc (type II migration) and the migration of sub-giant planets that open partial gaps in massive discs (type III migration).Comment: 52 pages, 18 figures.     A multi-omic Nicotiana benthamiana resource for fundamental research and biotechnology

    Nicotiana benthamiana is an invaluable model plant and biotechnology platform with a ~3 Gb allotetraploid genome. To further improve its usefulness and versatility, we have produced high-quality chromosome-level genome assemblies, coupled with transcriptome, epigenome, microRNA and transposable element datasets, for the ubiquitously used LAB strain and a related wild accession, QLD. In addition, single nucleotide polymorphism maps have been produced for a further two laboratory strains and four wild accessions. Despite the loss of five chromosomes from the ancestral tetraploid, expansion of intergenic regions, widespread segmental allopolyploidy, advanced diploidization and evidence of recent bursts of Copia pseudovirus (Copia) mobility not seen in other Nicotiana genomes, the two subgenomes of N. benthamiana show large regions of synteny across the Solanaceae. LAB and QLD have many genetic, metabolic and phenotypic differences, including disparate RNA interference responses, but are highly interfertile and amenable to genome editing and both transient and stable transformation. The LAB/QLD combination has the potential to be as useful as the Columbia-0/Landsberg errecta partnership, utilized from the early pioneering days of Arabidopsis genomics to today

    Based on a sample of 5.8X 10^7 J/psi events taken with the BESII detector, the branching fractions of J/psi--> 2(pi+pi-)eta and J/psi-->3(pi+pi-)eta are measured for the first time to be (2.26+-0.08+-0.27)X10^{-3} and (7.24+-0.96+-1.11)X10^{-4}, respectively.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figure
