Mathematical Description of an Asynchronous Motor with the Indirect Control of the Output Mechanical Variables
The article gives the mathematical description of an asynchronous motor with the indirect control of the output mechanical variables of an asynchronous motor in the electric drive. To determine the electromagnetic torque and angular velocity of the asynchronous motor in the electric drive the mathematical description is used in which the values are determined by the readings of the motor and easily measured values by means of known in practice devices. The proposed in the article the mathematical description for the indirect measuring the electromagnetic torque and angular velocity of the asynchronous motor in the electric drive does not contain the integral components that introduce the great error into the value of the controlled electromagnetic torque and angular velocity
Modelling of the rolling process of titanium alloy tube billets in laboratory conditions on a RSP 14-40 rolling mill
The development of screw rolling technology for the production of hot-deformed tubes over Ø250 mm on a SVP-500 rolling mill faces a number of challenges that influence the quality of tubes, such as: the screw trace formed on the external surface of tubes and bending of tubes that makes impossible subsequent manufacturing operations. The following experimental and laboratory research was performed to solve these problems: a number of experimental tube billets with and without mandrels were rolled to various strains on a RSP 14-40 laboratory rolling mill to obtain the best ratio of wall thickness to the external diamete
Conceptual design report for the LUXE experiment
This Conceptual Design Report describes LUXE (Laser Und XFEL Experiment), an experimental campaign that aims to combine the high-quality and high-energy electron beam of the European XFEL with a powerful laser to explore the uncharted terrain of quantum electrodynamics characterised by both high energy and high intensity. We will reach this hitherto inaccessible regime of quantum physics by analysing high-energy electron-photon and photon-photon interactions in the extreme environment provided by an intense laser focus. The physics background and its relevance are presented in the science case which in turn leads to, and justifies, the ensuing plan for all aspects of the experiment: Our choice of experimental parameters allows (i) field strengths to be probed where the coupling to charges becomes non-perturbative and (ii) a precision to be achieved that permits a detailed comparison of the measured data with calculations. In addition, the high photon flux predicted will enable a sensitive search for new physics beyond the Standard Model. The initial phase of the experiment will employ an existing 40 TW laser, whereas the second phase will utilise an upgraded laser power of 350 TW. All expectations regarding the performance of the experimental set-up as well as the expected physics results are based on detailed numerical simulations throughout
Letter of Intent for the LUXE Experiment
This Letter of Intent describes LUXE (Laser Und XFEL Experiment), an experiment that aims to use the high-quality and high-energy electron beam of the European XFEL and a powerful laser. The scientific objective of the experiment is to study quantum electrodynamics processes in the regime of strong fields. High-energy electrons, accelerated by the European XFEL linear accelerator, and high-energy photons, produced via Bremsstrahlung of those beam electrons, colliding with a laser beam shall experience an electric field up to three times larger than the Schwinger critical field (the field at which the vacuum itself is expected to become unstable and spark with spontaneous creation of electron-positron pairs) and access a new regime of quantum physics. The processes to be investigated, which include nonlinear Compton scattering and nonlinear Breit-Wheeler pair production, are relevant to a variety of phenomena in Nature, e.g. in the areas of astrophysics and collider physics and complement recent results in atomic physics. The setup requires in particular the extraction of a minute fraction of the electron bunches from the European XFEL accelerator, the installation of a powerful laser with sophisticated diagnostics, and an array of precision detectors optimised to measure electrons, positrons and photons. Physics sensitivity projections based on simulations are also provided

Stabilization of Electrical Parameters of Machine-Converter Voltage Source
The paper is devoted to development of Machine-Converter Source (MCS), which forms the output voltage waveform of electric generator as sum of EMFs with near frequencies. As electric modulation generator is used a synchronous generator and asynchronous exciter that have both common driving shaft and common housing. We studied the automatic control systems for output electrical parameters of MCS when changing speed of driving shaft and load power in wide ranges
The Status of the SASE3 Variable Polarization Project at the European XFEL
The undulator systems at the European XFEL consist of two hard X ray systems, SASE1 and SASE2, and one soft X ray system, SASE3. All three systems are equipped with planar undulators using permanent neodymium magnets. These systems allow the generation of linearly polarized radiation in the horizontal plane. In order to generate variable polarization radiation in the soft X ray range, an afterburner is currently being implemented behind the SASE3 planar undulator system. It consists of four APPLE X helical undulators. The project, called SASE 3 Variable Polarization, is close to being put into operation. All four helical undulators have been installed in the tunnel during the 2021 2022 winter shutdown. This paper describes the status of the project and the steps toward its commissioning. It also presents lessons learned during the implementation of the projec
