    Table Substitution Box Method for Increasing Security in Interval Splitting Arithmetic Coding

    Amalgamation of compression and security is indispensable in the field of multimedia applications. A novel approach to enhance security with compression is discussed in this  research paper. In secure arithmetic coder (SAC), security is provided by input and output permutation methods and compression is done by interval splitting arithmetic coding. Permutation in SAC is susceptible to attacks. Encryption issues associated with SAC is dealt in this research method. The aim of this proposed method is to encrypt the data first by Table Substitution Box (T-box) and then to compress by Interval Splitting Arithmetic Coder (ISAC). This method incorporates dynamic T-box in order to provide better security. T-box is a method, constituting elements based on the random output of Pseudo Random Generator (PRNG), which gets the input from Secure Hash Algorithm-256 (SHA-256) message digest. The current scheme is created, based on the key, which is known to the encoder and decoder. Further, T-boxes are created by using the previous message digest as a key.  Existing interval splitting arithmetic coding of SAC is applied for compression of text data. Interval splitting finds a relative position to split the intervals and this in turn brings out compression. The result divulges that permutation replaced by T-box method provides enhanced security than SAC. Data is not revealed when permutation is replaced by T-box method. Security exploration reveals that the data remains secure to cipher text attacks, known plain text attacks and chosen plain text attacks. This approach results in increased security to Interval ISAC. Additionally the compression ratio  is compared by transferring the outcome of T-box  to traditional  arithmetic coding. The comparison proved that there is a minor reduction in compression ratio in ISAC than arithmetic coding. However the security provided by ISAC overcomes the issues of compression ratio in  arithmetic coding.Â

    ADULTICIDAL ACTIVITY OF BOTANICAL OILS BY IMPREGNATED PAPER ASSAY AGAINST CULEX QUINQUEFASCIATUS SAY

    Objective: The present study was undertaken with the aim of finding out the efficacy of essential oils (EOs) as anti-mosquito agents for commercial purposes. Plant source insecticides as an alternative to chemical insecticide, this study were evaluated to assess the knock-down and adulticidal prospective of the essential oils against Culex quinquefasciatus. The plant essential oil is largely cultivated throughout India and in all Tropical countries.Methods: The selected botanical essential oils were procured from commercial producers of plant essential oils and aromatic substances were used in this study. Knock-down and Adulticidal bioassay was performed according to WHO protocol. A single dose of the essential oils was used in the preliminary screening. 20 adult mosquitoes (3-5 d old glucose fed mosquitoes) were exposed on treated paper for one hour and knocked down and live mosquitoes were counted at 5 minute intervals.Results: Among the twenty three oils tested, 100% knock-down and adult mortality was recorded at 10%/cm2dose of calamus, camphor, cinnamon, citronella, clove, eucalyptus, lemongrass, pine, thyme and tulsi oils respectively. At 10 % concentration, clove oil (KT50 =1.8 and KT90 = 2.03 min) was found to be the most potential treatment. After 15 min exposure period clove oil registered the lowest knock-down dosewhich was calculated as (KD50 =1.8 %/cm2and KD90 =11.2 %/cm2). The lower and upper 95 % confidence limits for clove oil were calculated as 0.2 and 4.2 min respectively.Conclusion: From the results it can be concluded that the adult of the Cx. quinquefasciatus were susceptible to the essential oils. Such findings would be useful in promoting research aiming at the development of new agent for mosquito control on basis of chemical compounds from indigenous plant sources as an alternative to chemicals

    The traditional medicinal uses of 58 angiospermic plant species belonging to 54 genera of 31 families for various diseases and ailments like wounds, cuts, stomach pain, diabetes, fever, cold, poisonous bites etc., by the Paliyar tribes of Shenbagathope in Virudhunagar district of Tamilnadu, India, are mentioned. Generally, fresh part of the plant is used for the preparation of medicine. When fresh plant parts are not available, dried parts are also used. Attention should be made on proper exploitation and utilization of these ethnomedicinally important plant species

    Statistical Image Watermarking In DWT with Capacity Improvement

    Abundant techniques has been widely used to design robust image watermarking schemes but in most cases due significance is not given on capacity and data imperceptibility aspects. Robustness of an image-watermarking scheme is the ability to detect the watermark after intentional attacks and normal audio/visual processes. This paper proposes a well-organized blind watermark detection scheme using DWT coefficients. Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is widely applied to image watermarking applications because it decomposes a cover image into spatial domain as well as frequency domain simultaneously. The proposed method improves the capacity of image watermarking. The proposed paper concentrates on some of the main attributes necessary for image watermarking. They are embedding scheme, maximum likelihood detection, decision threshold, and the Laplacian model for image watermarking. The embedding method is multiplicative and done at second level of DWT decomposition by most favorable choice of the embedding strength. The watermark detection is based on the maximum likelihood ratio. Neyman-Pearson criterion is used to reduce the missed detection probability subject to a fixed false alarm probability. The DWT coefficients are assumed to be modeled using the Laplacian distribution. The proposed method is tested for imperceptibility, robustness, and capacity and proved to have better robustness and better imperceptibility and better capacity than other conventional watermarking techniques that were proposed earlier in literature

    Preparation and characterization of hybrid nanofibrous polymer scaffolds for tissue engineering applications

    This paper endeavours towards the scientific study of infusion of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) into biodegradable polymer scaffold for bone tissue engineering. Highly biocompatible Ag NPs have been synthesized using chitosan as stabilizing and reducing agent. The synthesized Ag NPs have been uniformly suspended in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and sodium alginate (SA) solution and nanofibrous mat like scaffolds have been fabricated using electrospinning process. The proposed process of infusing Ag NPs in PVA/SA medium resulted in nanofibers of smaller diameter and reduced pore size resulted in high surface area which is due to electrostatic charge interaction of Ag NPs during electrospinning. Thus, the improved surface area has facilitated better growth of extracellular matrix (ECM) compared to traditional coating method. The effect of coating nanoparticles on prepared polymeric scaffolds proves less than infusion of nanoparticles prior to electrospinning

    Inherited variants in regulatory T cell genes and outcome of ovarian cancer.

    Although ovarian cancer is the most lethal of gynecologic malignancies, wide variation in outcome following conventional therapy continues to exist. The presence of tumor-infiltrating regulatory T cells (Tregs) has a role in outcome of this disease, and a growing body of data supports the existence of inherited prognostic factors. However, the role of inherited variants in genes encoding Treg-related immune molecules has not been fully explored. We analyzed expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) and sequence-based tagging single nucleotide polymorphisms (tagSNPs) for 54 genes associated with Tregs in 3,662 invasive ovarian cancer cases. With adjustment for known prognostic factors, suggestive results were observed among rarer histological subtypes; poorer survival was associated with minor alleles at SNPs in RGS1 (clear cell, rs10921202, p = 2.7×10(-5)), LRRC32 and TNFRSF18/TNFRSF4 (mucinous, rs3781699, p = 4.5×10(-4), and rs3753348, p = 9.0×10(-4), respectively), and CD80 (endometrioid, rs13071247, p = 8.0×10(-4)). Fo0r the latter, correlative data support a CD80 rs13071247 genotype association with CD80 tumor RNA expression (p = 0.006). An additional eQTL SNP in CD80 was associated with shorter survival (rs7804190, p = 8.1×10(-4)) among all cases combined. As the products of these genes are known to affect induction, trafficking, or immunosuppressive function of Tregs, these results suggest the need for follow-up phenotypic studies
