On the singular homology of one class of simply-connected cell-like spaces
In our earlier papers we constructed examples of 2-dimensional nonaspherical
simply-connected cell-like Peano continua, called {\sl Snake space}. In the
sequel we introduced the functor defined on the category of all
spaces with base points and continuous mappings. For the circle , the
space is a Snake space. In the present paper we study the
higher-dimensional homology and homotopy properties of the spaces
for any path-connected compact spaces
Exploration On Structure Of Asphalt Road Through By Geo Substance
Usually when it comes to polypropylene or polyester, geosubstance come in three basic forms: bundles, nailed, or temperature controlled. The images and consistency used for geosubstance are wet cloth. Geosubstance have a wide range of applications and directly simplify architectural applications including streets, airways, embankments, staffing structures, reservoirs and system sites. Geosubstance play an important role in the construction of waterway barriers. A special application, concrete structure, is in the dry black board and encapsulation system, this helps to enhance the dance and spread the visual life on the street. Spraying asphalt is evidence of penetration. When it is just a seedling, the geographic tissue acts as a conduit for the flow of spray or gas in the plane of the geographic tissue. Some geo-fabrics used for shrinkage reduce damage and reduce carpeting. In this report, the different options that can be applied to local engineers using geo-textiles with a low footed structure are highlighted
Oxidation States of Graphene: Insights from Computational Spectroscopy
When it is oxidized, graphite can be easily exfoliated forming graphene oxide
(GO). GO is a critical intermediate for massive production of graphene, and it
is also an important material with various application potentials. With many
different oxidation species randomly distributed on the basal plane, GO has a
complicated nonstoichiometric atomic structure that is still not well
understood in spite of of intensive studies involving many experimental
techniques. Controversies often exist in experimental data interpretation. We
report here a first principles study on binding energy of carbon 1s orbital in
GO. The calculated results can be well used to interpret experimental X-ray
photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) data and provide a unified spectral
assignment. Based on the first principles understanding of XPS, a GO structure
model containing new oxidation species epoxy pair and epoxy-hydroxy pair is
proposed. Our results demonstrate that first principles computational
spectroscopy provides a powerful means to investigate GO structure.Comment: accepted by J. Chem. Phy
On the homology of the Harmonic Archipelago
We calculate the singular homology and \v{C}ech cohomology groups of the
Harmonic archipelago. As a corollary, we prove that this space is not homotopy
equivalent to the Griffiths space. This is interesting in view of Eda's proof
that the first singular homology groups of these spaces are isomorphic
Phase--coherence Effects in Antidot Lattices: A Semiclassical Approach to Bulk Conductivity
We derive semiclassical expressions for the Kubo conductivity tensor. Within
our approach the oscillatory parts of the diagonal and Hall conductivity are
given as sums over contributions from classical periodic orbits in close
relation to Gutzwiller's trace formula for the density of states. Taking into
account the effects of weak disorder and temperature we reproduce recently
observed anomalous phase coherence oscillations in the conductivity of large
antidot arrays.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures available under request, RevTe
Geographic accessibility and hospital competition for emergency blood transfusion services in Bungoma, Western Kenya
Background
Estimating accessibility gaps to essential health interventions helps to allocate and prioritize health resources. Access to blood transfusion represents an important emergency health requirement. Here, we develop geo-spatial models of accessibility and competition to blood transfusion services in Bungoma County, Western Kenya.
Methods
Hospitals providing blood transfusion services in Bungoma were identified from an up-dated geo-coded facility database. AccessMod was used to define care-seeker’s travel times to the nearest blood transfusion service. A spatial accessibility index for each enumeration area (EA) was defined using modelled travel time, population demand, and supply available at the hospital, assuming a uniform risk of emergency occurrence in the county. To identify populations marginalized from transfusion services, the number of people outside 1-h travel time and those residing in EAs with low accessibility indexes were computed at the sub-county level. Competition between the transfusing hospitals was estimated using a spatial competition index which provided a measure of the level of attractiveness of each hospital. To understand whether highly competitive facilities had better capacity for blood transfusion services, a correlation test between the computed competition metric and the blood units received and transfused at the hospital was done.
Results
15 hospitals in Bungoma county provide transfusion services, however these are unevenly distributed across the sub-counties. Average travel time to a blood transfusion centre in the county was 33 min and 5% of the population resided outside 1-h travel time. Based on the accessibility index, 38% of the EAs were classified to have low accessibility, representing 34% of the population, with one sub-county having the highest marginalized population. The computed competition index showed that hospitals in the urban areas had a spatial competitive advantage over those in rural areas.
Conclusion
The modelled spatial accessibility has provided an improved understanding of health care gaps essential for health planning. Hospital competition has been illustrated to have some degree of influence in provision of health services hence should be considered as a significant external factor impacting the delivery, and re-design of available services
Produção do conhecimento na área de enfermagem na Argentina, Chile, Paraguai e Uruguai
Research is being pointed out as a path to nursing recognition.
The knowledge production concerning the tendencies of research lines in nursing during the 90’s, in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, took part of a study that had the purpose to know the impact of the nursing profession practice on health in Latin America and in the Caribbean Islands. The methodology used was the exploratory quantitative research, and the database used were Lilacs and Medline. The most frequent investigation themes refer to nursing profession (up to 13.2%). Regarding the lines of investigation in nursing, we found out that the nursing professional stood out with 41%, being technique and methodology the main approaches. Chile was the country that produced the largest amount of research, 86.8% of the summaries. Referring to the financing source, no reference is made in 86.8% of the summaries. With reference to the number of authors involved with the published literature, 50.7% of the literature have only one author. The nurses should be aware to invest in the enlargement of this production.La investigación está resaltando un camino en pro del reconocimiento de la enfermería. A Case Study on Professional Judgement and Decision Making Process in Athletic Training
This case study explored the professional judgement and decision making process of an athletic trainer, specifically focusing on the athletic training of an elite jockey. Using the Professional Judgement and Decision Making theory as a framework, the study investigated the cognitive processes, beliefs, and factors that influenced the first author’s judgment and decision making as an athletic trainer. The study employed a personal-narrative autoethnography approach, incorporating practice logs/diaries, consultations with the jockey, behavioral observations, and reflections. By integrating classical, rule-based, and naturalistic decision making approaches, the findings of this study underlined the complexity of the athletic trainers’ judgement and decision making at different training levels—program, intervention, and session. At the program level, decisions were characterized by analytical planning, incorporating a deep understanding of the jockey’s goals and the riding biomechanics. At intervention level, decisions were guided by both perceptual information and an intuitive understanding of the jockey’s physical and psychological state, allowing for flexible and responsive training strategies. At the session level, rapid, intuitive judgements facilitated immediate adjustments to training plans, underscoring the dynamic nature of athletic training. In conclusion, this case study offered a unique glimpse into the professional judgment and decision making processes in athletic training, advocating for a reflective and open professional debate to advance the field. It calls for future research to explore these processes across multiple sports and trainers, enhancing the understanding and application of PJDM in athletic training
A ENFERMAGEM E OS CUIDADOS À SAÚDE DA FAMÍLIA RURAL
This article makes a reflection on the rural family and nursing in the south area of the State of Rio
Grande do Sul, Brazil . These families are more and more impoverished and excluded from the public politics,
because capitalist agriculture is considered a sign of modernity by the government. With the intention to support
their survival, the rural families members use their bodies as force and instrument of work. In that way, they
frequently are careless of their bodies, working too many hours, being exposed to atmospheric variations and to
chemical products. They make old and spend their bodies prematurely, despite that, they do not succeed in
bringing quality to their lives. Therefore, Nursing and Obstetrics Faculty of the Federal University of Pelotas
demonstrates interest in supporting this population in several works and projects, with the purpose to knowing/
understanding their members, investing in education to form citizens, contributing this way to the quality and life
of the rural families.Este artículo hace una reflexión sobre la familia rural y la enfermería de la región sur de Rio Grande
