Studies on selected biological parameters off Mithapur (Gujarat)

    Get PDF
The biological characteristics off Mithapur, India, indicated fairly high productivity in terms of macrobenthos and phytoplankton pigment concentration. The area sustained low standing stock of zooplankton. The overall biological productivity of plankton and macrobenthos indicated 30-90% reduction from the premonsoon to postmonsoon period. This decline in the standing stock of plankton and benthos was coinciding with the peak fishing season of the area

Fibrosarcome du larynx - A propos d'un cas

    Get PDF

Control of Uncertain Sampled-Data Systems: An Adaptive Posicast Control Approach

    Get PDF
This technical note proposes a discrete-time adaptive controller for the control of sampled-data systems. The design is inspired from the Adaptive Posicast Controller (APC) which was designed for time-delay systems in continuous time. Due to the performance degradation caused by digital approximation of continuous laws, together with the problem of assuming time-delays as integer multiples of sampling intervals, the benefits of APC could not be fully realized. In this technical note, these approximations/assumptions are eliminated. In addition, a disturbance observer is incorporated into the controller design which minimizes the effect of disturbances on the system. Extension to the case of uncertain input time-delay is also presented. The proposed approach is verified in simulation studies. © 1963-2012 IEEE

OBK is the company's acquisition in 2013. This acquisition led to a change in the managerial rank that influence new policies were implemented company. New policy of employee development as an effort to increase the performance of the company. This study aimed to analyze the perception of Workshop division employee of accomplished trainings at OBK Company and their improved performance after the training. This study analyze the relationship between the respondents perceptions towards accomplished training activities and the perceptions towards performance after the training. The perception data were processed using an average test score, the correlation using Pearson’s rank test and training Need Assessment Tool (TNA-T) to analyze the employee training needed. The results showed that the perception of production and PPIC subdivisions are satisfied with the training organized by the company and the perception of Maintenance and QC subdivision are quite satisfied. Perception on the improved performance of Production, QC and PPIC subdivisions after the training is increased on the average. Meanwhile the performance of Maintenance subdivision is enough. The relationship between the variables of training and improved performance in Production, PPIC, QC and Maintenance subdivision has a positive direction. This shows that the higher the perception of the training, the higher the perception of improved performance. A strong and significant relationship between training and improved performance are on Production, QC and PPIC subdivisions. Respondent perceptions on these subdivisions are high on the average. On the Maintenance subdivision, the relationship is low and not significant between training and performance. Low relationship is assumed to occur because the assessments of respondents tend to vary on the training variable. The result of TNA tools that  training is required by all respondents but not urgent

Extractive Text-Based Summarization of Arabic videos: Issues, Approaches and Evaluations

International audienceIn this paper, we present and evaluate a method for extractive text-based summarization of Arabic videos. The algorithm is proposed in the scope of the AMIS project that aims at helping a user to understand videos given in a foreign language (Arabic). For that, the project proposes several strategies to translate and summarize the videos. One of them consists in transcribing the Ara-bic videos, summarizing the transcriptions, and translating the summary. In this paper we describe the video corpus that was collected from YouTube and present and evaluate the transcription-summarization part of this strategy. Moreover, we present the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system used to transcribe the videos, and show how we adapted this system to the Algerian dialect. Then, we describe how we automatically segment into sentences the sequence of words provided by the ASR system, and how we summarize the obtained sequence of sentences. We evaluate objectively and subjectively our approach. Results show that the ASR system performs well in terms of Word Error Rate on MSA, but needs to be adapted for dealing with Algerian dialect data. The subjective evaluation shows the same behaviour than ASR: transcriptions for videos containing dialectal data were better scored than videos containing only MSA data. However, summaries based on transcriptions are not as well rated, even when transcriptions are better rated. Last, the study shows that features, such as the lengths of transcriptions and summaries, and the subjective score of transcriptions, explain only 31% of the subjective score of summaries

Fast b-tagging at the high-level trigger of the ATLAS experiment in LHC Run 3

The ATLAS experiment relies on real-time hadronic jet reconstruction and b-tagging to record fully hadronic events containing b-jets. These algorithms require track reconstruction, which is computationally expensive and could overwhelm the high-level-trigger farm, even at the reduced event rate that passes the ATLAS first stage hardware-based trigger. In LHC Run 3, ATLAS has mitigated these computational demands by introducing a fast neural-network-based b-tagger, which acts as a low-precision filter using input from hadronic jets and tracks. It runs after a hardware trigger and before the remaining high-level-trigger reconstruction. This design relies on the negligible cost of neural-network inference as compared to track reconstruction, and the cost reduction from limiting tracking to specific regions of the detector. In the case of Standard Model HH → bb̅bb̅, a key signature relying on b-jet triggers, the filter lowers the input rate to the remaining high-level trigger by a factor of five at the small cost of reducing the overall signal efficiency by roughly 2%
