Resonance Studies at STAR
We report on the observed signals of and
using the mixed-event method with powerful
statistics from the large acceptance and highly efficient STAR TPC. Preliminary
results from the first observation of such states from the year-one STAR data
in GeV Au-Au collisions are presented. The
ratios with an assumed inverse slope of
300MeV are compatible with that from pp at ISR. For 14% central Au+Au
collisions, we observe and
. We show that
from this method is consistent with
the measurement via decay topology.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, Quark Matter 2001, contributed talk; typos of

Generalized monotonicity and strategy-proofness: A note
In this note we define generalized monotonicity which is a generalized version of monotonicity due to Muller and Satterthwaite (1979) for a social choice function under individual preferences which permit indifference, and shall show that generalized monotonicity and strategy-proofness are equivalent.generalized monotonicity
Accurate and conforming mixed discretization of the chiral Müller equation
Scattering of time-harmonic fields by chiral objects can be modeled by a second kind boundary integral equation, similar to Muller's equation for scattering by nonchiral penetrable objects. In this contribution, a mixed discretization scheme for the chiral Muller equation is introduced using both Rao-Wilton- Glisson and Buffa-Christiansen funtions. It is shown that this mixed discretization yields more accurate solutions than classical discretizations, and that they can be computed in a limited number of iterations using Krylov type solvers
Muller v Oregon: Reassessing Protective Legislation
Although the Progressive Era has drawn the attention of countless scholars, few historians have deeply investigated one of the most important Supreme Court cases of the era, Muller v. Oregon (1908). It was not until the failure of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in 1972 that scholars seriously considered the case. The failure of the ERA brought a surge of scholarship from the field of history, law, sociology, psychology, and communications. This historiography examines the reemergence of interest in Muller v. Oregon in the years following the ERA’s failure. In addition to examining the increasing interest of scholars, this historiography also considers the method in which secondary school educators should teach the Muller case. Should Muller be taught as a triumph of progressivism or as a setback for women’s rights? This historiography considers the important changes Muller brought to the Supreme Court’s decision-making process as well as the damaging legacy left in its wake. As the United States appears to move toward revoking protective legislation for a woman’s reproductive rights, Muller v. Oregon, deserves to be studied by students and scholars alike

Plankton sampling, by nets started a little more,
than 150 years ago and it is therefore v6ry much in its
infancy compared to fishing operations. In 1828, a surgeon,
Dr. J,. Vaughan Thompson made a small net to sample crab
and barnacle larvae., Darwin used a small net on the
Beagle and in 1844 Muller us6d a small meshed conical
net to catch a host of minute -creature
Microwave transport approach to the coherence of interchain hopping in (TMTSF)2PF6
We report a microwave study of the longitudinal and transverse transport
properties of the quasi-one-dimensional organic conductor (TMTSF)PF in
its normal phase. The contactless technique have provided a direct measurement
of the temperature profile of the resistivity along the {\bf b'} direction and
in magnetic fields up to 14 T. A characteristic energy scale ()
has been observed which delimits a transient regime from an insulating to a
metallic behavior. This anomalous profile is discussed in terms of the onset of
coherent transport properties along the {\bf b'} direction below 40 K. This is
also supported by the observation of a finite longitudinal and transverse
magnetoresitances only below 40 K, indicative of a two-dimensional regime.
Below , however, strong deviations with respect to a Fermi liquid behavior
are evidenced.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Euro.Phys.J.
