Pentacene-Based Thin-Film Transistors With a Solution-Process Hafnium Oxide Insulator
AbstractâPentacene-based organic thin-ïŹlm transistors with
solution-process hafnium oxide (HfOx) as gate insulating layer
have been demonstrated. The solution-process HfOx could not
only exhibit a high-permittivity (Îș = 11) dielectric constant but
also has good dielectric strength. Moreover, the root-mean-square
surface roughness and surface energy (Îłs) on the surface of the
HfOx layer were 1.304 nm and 34.24 mJ/cm2, respectively. The
smooth, as well as hydrophobic, surface of HfOx could facilitate
the direct deposition of the pentacene ïŹlm without an additional
polymer treatment layer, leading to a high ïŹeld-effect mobility of
3.8 cm2/(V · s).

Mechanism of Evolution Shared by Gene and Language
We propose a general mechanism for evolution to explain the diversity of gene
and language. To quantify their common features and reveal the hidden
structures, several statistical properties and patterns are examined based on a
new method called the rank-rank analysis. We find that the classical
correspondence, "domain plays the role of word in gene language", is not
rigorous, and propose to replace domain by protein. In addition, we devise a
new evolution unit, syllgram, to include the characteristics of spoken and
written language. Based on the correspondence between (protein, domain) and
(word, syllgram), we discover that both gene and language shared a common
scaling structure and scale-free network. Like the Rosetta stone, this work may

All compounds mentioned in this review were obtained from sea whip gorgonian corals Junceella fragilis and Junceella juncea, collected from the tropical and subtropical Indo-Pacific Ocean
Cladielloides A and B: New Eunicellin-Type Diterpenoids from an Indonesian Octocoral Cladiella sp
Two new eunicellin-type diterpenoids, cladielloides A (1) and B (2), which were found to possess a 2-hydroxybutyroxy group in their structures, were isolated from an Indonesian octocoral identified as Cladiella sp. The structures of eunicellins 1 and 2 were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Cladielloide B (2) exhibited moderate cytotoxicity toward CCRF-CEM tumor cells and this compound displayed significant inhibitory effects on superoxide anion generation and elastase release by human neutrophils
Evaluating indoor positioning systems in a shopping mall : the lessons learned from the IPIN 2018 competition
The Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN) conference holds an annual competition in which indoor localization systems from different research groups worldwide are evaluated empirically. The objective of this competition is to establish a systematic evaluation methodology with rigorous metrics both for real-time (on-site) and post-processing (off-site) situations, in a realistic environment unfamiliar to the prototype developers. For the IPIN 2018 conference, this competition was held on September 22nd, 2018, in Atlantis, a large shopping mall in Nantes (France). Four competition tracks (two on-site and two off-site) were designed. They consisted of several 1 km routes traversing several floors of the mall. Along these paths, 180 points were topographically surveyed with a 10 cm accuracy, to serve as ground truth landmarks, combining theodolite measurements, differential global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and 3D scanner systems. 34 teams effectively competed. The accuracy score corresponds to the third quartile (75th percentile) of an error metric that combines the horizontal positioning error and the floor detection. The best results for the on-site tracks showed an accuracy score of 11.70 m (Track 1) and 5.50 m (Track 2), while the best results for the off-site tracks showed an accuracy score of 0.90 m (Track 3) and 1.30 m (Track 4). These results showed that it is possible to obtain high accuracy indoor positioning solutions in large, realistic environments using wearable light-weight sensors without deploying any beacon. This paper describes the organization work of the tracks, analyzes the methodology used to quantify the results, reviews the lessons learned from the competition and discusses its future
Meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies identifies eight new loci for type 2 diabetes in east Asians
We conducted a three-stage genetic study to identify susceptibility loci for type 2 diabetes (T2D) in east Asian populations. We followed our stage 1 meta-analysis of eight T2D genome-wide association studies (6,952 cases with T2D and 11,865 controls) with a stage 2 in silico replication analysis (5,843 cases and 4,574 controls) and a stage 3 de novo replication analysis (12,284 cases and 13,172 controls). The combined analysis identified eight new T2D loci reaching genome-wide significance, which mapped in or near GLIS3, PEPD, FITM2-R3HDML-HNF4A, KCNK16, MAEA, GCC1-PAX4, PSMD6 and ZFAND3. GLIS3, which is involved in pancreatic beta cell development and insulin gene expression1,2, is known for its association with fasting glucose levels3,4. The evidence of an association with T2D for PEPD5 and HNF4A6,7 has been shown in previous studies. KCNK16 may regulate glucose-dependent insulin secretion in the pancreas. These findings, derived from an east Asian population, provide new perspectives on the etiology of T2D
