    DPP9 is a novel component of the N-end rule pathway targeting the tyrosine kinase Syk.

    The aminopeptidase DPP9 removes dipeptides from N-termini of substrates having a proline or alanine in second position. Although linked to several pathways including cell survival and metabolism, the molecular mechanisms underlying these outcomes are poorly understood. We identified a novel interaction of DPP9 with Filamin A, which recruits DPP9 to Syk, a central kinase in B-cell signalling. Syk signalling can be terminated by degradation, requiring the ubiquitin E3 ligase Cbl. We show that DPP9 cleaves Syk to produce a neo N-terminus with serine in position 1. Pulse-chases combined with mutagenesis studies reveal that Ser1 strongly influences Syk stability. Furthermore, DPP9 silencing reduces Cbl interaction with Syk, suggesting that DPP9 processing is a prerequisite for Syk ubiquitination. Consistently, DPP9 inhibition stabilizes Syk, thereby modulating Syk signalling. Taken together, we demonstrate DPP9 as a negative regulator of Syk and conclude that DPP9 is a novel integral aminopeptidase of the N-end rule pathway

    O presente estudo teve como objetivo caracterizar a evolução das discussões sobre a formação e a atuação na área de Psicologia Escolar no Brasil. Foram analisados 102 trabalhos publicados nos Anais dos quatro Congressos Nacionais de Psicologia Escolar, promovidos pela ABRAPEE, entre os anos de 1991 e 1998. Os trabalhos foram agrupados em três categorias: Reflexões Teóricas, Relatos de Experiência e Relatos de Pesquisa. Os dados evidenciaram diversificação na produção do conhecimento na área de Psicologia Escolar; orientação de experiências de estágio numa direção mais preventiva e práticas profissionais que se referiram significativamente à atuação junto à comunidade escolar e aos professores.The following study aims to characterize the evolution of the discussions about the underground education and performance in the area of School Psychology in Brazil. There had been analized 102 works published in Annals of the four National Congresses of School Psychology, promoted for the ABRAPEE, between the years of 1991 and 1998. The works had been grouped in three categories: Theoretical reflections, Reports of Experience and Reports of Research. The data had evidenced a diversification in the production of knowledge in the area of School Psychology, that the period of training experiences are oriented in a more preventive route and that the professional practicals had mentioned themselves, significantly, to the performance with the school community and to the professors

Em contraste, durante o exercício de alta intensidade, há aumento na disponibilidade e na taxa de oxidação de glicose.     Identification of an Amphipathic Helix Important for the Formation of Ectopic Septin Spirals and Axial Budding in Yeast Axial Landmark Protein Bud3p

    Correct positioning of polarity axis in response to internal or external cues is central to cellular morphogenesis and cell fate determination. In the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Bud3p plays a key role in the axial bud-site selection (axial budding) process in which cells assemble the new bud next to the preceding cell division site. Bud3p is thought to act as a component of a spatial landmark. However, it is not clear how Bud3p interacts with other components of the landmark, such as the septins, to control axial budding. Here, we report that overexpression of Bud3p causes the formation of small septin rings (∼1 µm in diameter) and arcs aside from previously reported spiral-like septin structures. Bud3p closely associates with the septins in vivo as Bud3p colocalizes with these aberrant septin structures and forms a complex with two septins, Cdc10p and Cdc11p. The interaction of Bud3p with the septins may involve multiple regions of Bud3p including 1–858, 850–1220, and 1221–1636 a.a. since they all target to the bud neck but exhibit different effects on septin organization when overexpressed. In addition, our study reveals that the axial budding function of Bud3p is mediated by the N-terminal region 1–858. This region shares an amphipathic helix (850–858) crucial for bud neck targeting with the middle portion 850–1103 involved in the formation of ectopic septin spirals and rings. Interestingly, the Dbl-homology domain located in 1–858 is dispensable for axial bud-site selection. Our findings suggest that multiple regions of Bud3p ensure efficient targeting of Bud3p to the bud neck in the assembly of the axial landmark and distinct domains of Bud3p are involved in axial bud-site selection and other cellular processes

    There is an increased risk of premature death in people with severe mental illness (SMI). Respiratory disorders and cardiovascular disease are leading causes of increased mortality rates in these patients, and tobacco consumption remains the most preventable risk factor involved. Developing new tools to motivate patients towards cessation of smoking is a high priority. Information on the motivational value of giving the lung age and prevention opportunities is unknown in this high-risk population. In the context of community care, screening and early detection of lung damage could potentially be used, together with mobile technology, in order to produce a prevention message, which may provide patients with SMI with a better chance of quitting smoking.This study receives funding by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, Instituto Carlos III (FIS PI16/00802)

    The objective of this study was to analyze the usage of the artistic language of theateras a health promotion tool for adolescents at social risk, in an occupational therapy context. Thisprocess was carried out through the GESTTO group (Socio-theatrical expressions in OccupationalTherapy), which was made up of teenaged residents from a community in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará.The investigation method used a qualitative and research-action approach based on the writings ofLiberman, Barros, Boal and Moreno. The analysis results highlighted that the occupational therapygroup allowed the adolescent to perceive himself/herself as a being in society, with a role to play,and with the potential to create and become an agent for transformation.
