CP violating phase from charged-lepton mixing
A model independent analysis of the leptonic Dirac CP-violating phase
({\delta}) is presented. The analysis uses the experimentally determined values
of the mixing angles in the lepton mixing matrix in order to explore the
allowed values for {\delta} and possible general forms for the charged lepton
mixing matrix. This is done under two general assumptions: 1) that the mixing
matrix in the neutrino sector is the so-called tribimaximal matrix and hence
the non zero value for {\theta}13 arises due to the mixing matrix in the
charged lepton sector and 2) the charged lepton mixing matrix is parametrized
in terms of three angles and one phase. It is found that any value of {\delta}
is still consistent with the data and that, considering the assumptions above,
regardless of the value for {\delta}, the 1-3 mixing angle in the charged
lepton sector is small but non zero and the 2-3 mixing angle can take values in
only two possible small ranges around 0 and {\pi}/2 respectively.Comment: References adde
Relationship Amongst Technology Use, Work Overload, and Psychological Detachment from Work
Permanent connection to the work world as a result of new technologies raises the possibility of workday extensions and excessive workloads. The present study addresses the relationship between technology and psychological detachment from work resulting from work overload. Participants were 313 professionals from the health sector who responded to three instruments used in similar studies. Through PLS-SEM, regression and dependence analyses were developed, and through the bootstrapping method, significance of factor loadings, path coefficients and variances were examined. Results of the study corroborate a negative effect of technology use on psychological detachment from work and a positive correlation between technology and work overload. Additionally, there is a significant indirect effect of technology on psychological detachment from work as a result of work overload. Findings extend the literature related to the stressor-detachment model, and support the idea that workers who are often connected to their jobs by technological tools are less likely to reach adequate psychological detachment levels. Implications for the academic community and practitioners are discusse
Electro-Disinfection of Municipal Waste Water using Direct Current
Wastewater treatment has always been a problem to human settlers. Events such as the great stink of London during the summer of 1858 have pushed engineers into developing new technologies to deal with such wastes in effective and safe ways. Research projects like this aim to find ways of improving performance, economics, or environmental friendliness of treatment and disinfection methods.
This thesis deals with the effectiveness, mechanisms of action, by-products and side effects of using DC current to disinfect secondary effluent. It is proposed as an alternative to conventional methods, such as chlorination, which are not always environmentally friendly or feasible.
It was demonstrated that DC current efficiently kills pathogens. DC properly used achieves disinfection significantly higher than the minimum required by the EPA. Nevertheless disinfection by products such as residual chlorine should be taken into account when considering this technology as an alternative to conventional chlorination
Multirobot heterogeneous control considering secondary objectives
Cooperative robotics has considered tasks that are executed frequently, maintaining the
shape and orientation of robotic systems when they fulfill a common objective, without taking
advantage of the redundancy that the robotic group could present. This paper presents a proposal
for controlling a group of terrestrial robots with heterogeneous characteristics, considering primary
and secondary tasks thus that the group complies with the following of a path while modifying its
shape and orientation at any time. The development of the proposal is achieved through the use
of controllers based on linear algebra, propounding a low computational cost and high scalability
algorithm. Likewise, the stability of the controller is analyzed to know the required features that have
to be met by the control constants, that is, the correct values. Finally, experimental results are shown
with di erent configurations and heterogeneous robots, where the graphics corroborate the expected
operation of the proposalThis research was funded by Corporación Ecuatoriana para el Desarrollo de la Investigación

Neurological Manifestations of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
The inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is associated with different neurological and psychiatric disorders, which are integrated among the extra-intestinal manifestation of this disease. The physiopathology of neurological manifestations of IBD varies among the different kind of complications. The origin and the significance of these manifestations must be understood by clinicians who manage IBD patients. Some of them are related to therapeutic agents. The present chapter consists of a review of the most prevalent neurological and psychiatric disorders associated with IBD. The physiopathology of those entities will also be discussed, as well as the appropriate management for their prevention and treatment
Weakly open sets in the unit ball of some Banach spaces and the centralizer
AbstractWe show that every Banach space X whose centralizer is infinite-dimensional satisfies that every non-empty weakly open set in BY has diameter 2, where Y=⊗ˆN,s,πX (N-fold symmetric projective tensor product of X, endowed with the symmetric projective norm), for every natural number N. We provide examples where the above conclusion holds that includes some spaces of operators and infinite-dimensional C∗-algebras. We also prove that every non-empty weak∗ open set in the unit ball of the space of N-homogeneous and integral polynomials on X has diameter two, for every natural number N, whenever the Cunningham algebra of X is infinite-dimensional. Here we consider the space of N-homogeneous integral polynomials as the dual of the space ⊗ˆN,s,εX (N-fold symmetric injective tensor product of X, endowed with the symmetric injective norm). For instance, every infinite-dimensional L1(μ) satisfies that its Cunningham algebra is infinite-dimensional. We obtain the same result for every non-reflexive L-embedded space, and so for every predual of an infinite-dimensional von Neumann algebra
Técnicas experimentales aplicadas al condicionamiento clásico de preferencias en el comportamiento del consumidor
Classical conditioning (CC) is one of the most emblematic developments of experimentalpsychology and psychological science. CC has implied to its area of knowledge: a matterof research, a set of concepts, a methodology, and, finally, a series of technological andinstrumental developments. Like investigation strategy, CC has been used in the study ofa great diversity of processes like perception, learning, memory, and thought. In the sameway,CC is a procedure that has been extended to an important number of applicationfields where it looks for to take part on concrete behavior changes. More specifically, inthe field of consumer behavior, CC are one of the most influential paradigms because itsgreat utility in the explanation on how preferences on goods and services are acquired andmodified. This article pretends introduce to the experimental procedures in CC and CC ofpreferences, in order to indicate their concepts, variables, special phenomena, and researchopportunities.El condicionamiento clásico (CC) es uno de los desarrollos más emblemáticos de la psicología experimental y la ciencia psicológica. Local and nonlocal energy-based coupling models
In this paper we study two different ways of coupling a local operator with a nonlocal one so that the resulting equation is related to an energy functional. In the first strategy the coupling is given via source terms in the equation, and in the second one a flux condition in the local part appears. For both models we prove existence and uniqueness of a solution that is obtained via direct minimization of the related energy functional. In the second part of this paper we extend these ideas to local/nonlocal elasticity models in which we couple classical local elasticity with nonlocal peridynamics.Fil: Acosta, Gabriel.
