Acoustical Behavior Of Churches: Mudejar-Gothic Churches

    Get PDF
Christian churches have traditionally been considered to have very good acoustical behavior. This unfounded belief has led to important en-on in church rehabilitation works, especially when the church is to be used subsequently as an auditorium or theater; this is the case of many churches in Spain. Our research group has worked in acoustical analysis for more than ten years. We have participated in many cases of church rehabilitation and have had the opp&unity to achieve surprisingly good acwstical behavior in several. We deal with a very common type in southern Spain: Gothic-Mudejar churches, which have a small volume, a triple-nave layout, and wooden ceilings

Impact of climate change on wave energy resource: the case of Menorca (Spain)

The aim of this paper was to analyse how changes in wave patterns, due to the effect of climate change, can affect wave energy power and yield around Menorca (NW Mediterranean Sea). The present and future wave energy conditions were derived from recently developed high-resolution wave projections in the NW Mediterranean. These wave projections were forced by surface wind fields obtained, respectively, by 5 different combinations of global and regional circulation models (GCMs and RCMs) for the A1B scenario. The results showed that the projected future spatial and directional distributions of wave energy are very similar to those of the present conditions. The multi-model ensemble average illustrated a slight general decrease in the annual and seasonal wave power (except for summer). However, the inter-model variability is large since two models showed opposite trends to the other 3 in most cases. Such inter-model variability is lower(higher) for winter(autumn). Another result is the reduction of the temporal variability in the future, considering both the multi-model mean and each single model projection. Such a decrease is consistent with the future seasonal redistribution of energy throughout the year. This would entail an increase in the efficiency of wave energy converters deployed in this area due to the more regular temporal distribution of the energy.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

High moisture content of litter may lead to poor welfare, health and production performace of broiler chickens. The aim of this study was to evaluate litter aeration, an alternative to reduce moisture levels of bedding material, from a point of view of environmental f, welfare and production performance of animals.Núñez Casas, JJ. The objective of this thesis is to inform the main characteristics for virtual education, infrastructure to support the internet network, level of penetration and the use that students give to this tool in each educative establishment in the four main universities in Bogota ( Javeriana, Andes, La Sabana, Rosario ), Therefore, the international surroundings will be analyzed, how it evolved since its origins in the United States, the actual situation and the reaches of the tool in the countries of the world. In addition it shows the technologies of the information and communication in some universities of the world, how the students use it and the advantages that offer for the present and future education. In the same way the level of penetration of the Internet in the students of the Universities of Bogota, how often they use it, common activities through this tool, infrastructure to support it, quality of the service, level of satisfaction. And perhaps the most important, aspect is to know if the students of the 4 main universities of Bogota use electronic means in the same facilities of the universities. In order to develop this investigation surveys were applied to the directives and people in charge of the subjects in each one of the universities of study, in order to approach the management of this area in the universities, their development throughout the time. After analyzing the results of the interviews with directives of the educative centers, compiling and analyzing the information related to the subject of the Internet in the universities, the main question is answered, which is based on knowing wich is the profile of the electronic means user in the 4 main universities of Bogota

How to use music scores in teaching and learning music?

The Version of Record of this manuscript has been published and is available in Cultura y Educación 2008 http://www.tandfonline.com/ http://dx.doi.org/10.1174/113564008783781503Este artículo estudia el uso que se hace de las partituras en la enseñanza de la interpretación musical. After outlining the historical evolution of music scores as notational system or external representation, we assume that scores are representational objects whose function is to guide a sequence of actions in music performance. Then we propose that scores may be processed according to three hierarchically ordered levels. According to Postigo and Pozo (2000), on a first level of processing only explicit notation in the score will be learnt, while on higher levels the implicit structure in these notations will be processed and the conceptual relationships between that score and the student’s previous musical knowledge will be established. Based on these levels, the paper shows how music students being trained as teachers use the score, and finishes by reflecting about the implications on their future practice as teachersEste artículo forma parte de la investigación Instrucción para el cambio representacional: de las teorías implícitas al aprendizaje de conocimientos en contextos educativos, financiada por el Plan Nacional I+D+, Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia, SEJ2006-15639-C02-01, cuya investigadora principal es María del Puy Pérez Echeverrí

A Focal-Point Solution for Bargaining Problems with Coalition Structure

In this paper we study the restriction, to the class of bargaining problems with coalition structure, of several values which have been proposed on the class of non-transferable utility games with coalition structure. We prove that all of them coincide with the solution independently studied in Chae and Heidhues (2004) and Vidal-Puga (2005a). Several axiomatic characterizations and two noncooperative mechanisms are proposed.coalition structure bargaining values
