    Atmospheric emission inventory of Maurienne valley for an atmospheric numerical model

    Within the framework of an air quality study of the French alpine valleys (POVA program), an atmospheric emission inventory concerning major pollutants: CO, NOx, SO(2), CH(4), particles (PT) and non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC) was carried out. This inventory has a spatial resolution of 1 km(2) and was established for the reference year 2003. The coexistence of economic activities and the Vanoise national park makes the Maurienne valley a sensitive site, particularly representative of the problems of sustainable development in alpine areas, where air pollution is one of the most important aspects. The area, which covers 4588 km(2), is an alpine valley that is sensitive to air pollution due to the emission sources (traffic, industries, private heating, etc.), its morphology (a narrow valley surrounded by high ranges), and local meteorology (temperature inversions and slope winds). As expected, the result which includes both biogenic and anthropogenic sources shows serious emissions of pollutants that are mainly due to the presence of highways and industries around. Two emission inventories were drawn up: one with emission factors determined by CORINAIR (from the European Environment Agency) and the other with emission factors determined by BUWAL-OFEFP (from Swiss Agency for the Environment, Forests and Landscape). The inventories were then compared thanks to concentrations calculated from a numerical model. Computations were run for an intensive field observation period from 25 June to 2 July 2003

    Use of green roofs to solve storm water issues at the basin scale – Study in the Hauts-de-Seine County (France)

    International audienceAt the building scale, green roof has demonstrated a positive impact on urban runoff (decrease in the peak discharge and runoff volume). This work aims to study if similar impacts can be observed at basin scale. It is particularly focused on the possibility to solve some operational issues caused by storm water.For this purpose, a methodology has been proposed. It combines: a method to estimate the maximum roof area that can be covered by green roof, called green roofing potential, and an urban rainfall-runoff model able to simulate the hydrological behaviour of green roof.This methodology was applied to two urban catchments affected one by flooding and the other one by combined sewage overflow. The results show that green roof can reduce the frequency and the magnitude of such problems depending on the covered roof surface. Combined with other infrastructures, they represent an interesting solution for urban water management

    039: Platelet reactivity predicts both ischemic and bleeding events at one year follow-up in acute coronary syndome patients receiving prasugrel

    There are evidences of a link between platelet reactivity inhibition and thrombotic and bleeding events. We have previously demonstrated that PR after prasugrel loading dose (LD) predicts short-term thrombotic events. We aimed to further investigate the relationship between PR under prasugrel and one-year thrombotic and bleeding events.MethodPatients were prospectively included in this multicentre study if they had a successful PCI for an acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and received prasugrel. Vasodilator-Stimulated Phosphoprotein (VASP index) was measured after prasugrel LD. Endpoint included the rate of thrombotic events (cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction and stent thrombosis) and bleeding events (TIMI) at one year.ResultsThree hundreds and one patients were enrolled. Nine patients (3%) were lost to follow-up at one year. The rates of thrombotic and bleeding events at one year were 7.5 and 6.8% respectively. The mean VASP index after a 60mg LD of prasugrel was 34}23% and 76 patients (25%) were considered as having high on-treatment platelet reactivity (HTPR). Patients with HTPR had a higher rate of thrombotic events compared to good responders (19.7 vs 3.1%;p<0.001). Patients with a minor or major non-CABG related TIMI bleeding had lower PR compared to patients with no bleeding events (21}18 vs 35}23%;p=0.008). In multivariate analysis, the VASP index predicted both thrombotic and bleeding events (OR: 1.44 (95% CI: 1.2–1.72; p<0.001 and 0.75 (95% CI: 0.59–0.96;p=0.024 (respectively, per 10% increase)).ConclusionPlatelet reactivity measurement after prasugrel LD predicts both ischemic and bleedings events at one year follow-up for ACS patients undergoing PCI
