Though the Brazilian law still have no systematic statute on internet and digital legal aspects, the case law and precedents of superior courts have been establishing some important guidelines to both the interpretation of existing norms to embrace digital questions, as well as the discussion of the civil regulatory framework of internet in public opinion and the legislative houses. This article presents the most important decisions from Brazilian superior courts on the law of information technologies in order to identify the most polemical questions as well as the solutions found so far.

---------------------------------------------The use of the plant regulators in the agriculture comes if turning a routine practice with the objective of exploring the productive potential of the cultures. In the culture of the sugar-cane, the study of the viability of the application doesn't just depend on the evaluation of the physical productivity, should be joined to the economic analysis, because these varied they are essential to the taking of decision of producers and technicians. Like this being, the objective of the work went of determining to technical and economic viability of the application of the plant regulator in the productivity of the culture of the sugar-cane in Colina SP, in the agricultural year 2006/07. In an design experimental in complete randomized blocks were evaluated to field the effects of doses and application time of the Stimulate®, and the yield data in the dose of 0,5 L/ha were used for the analysis of the economic viability of the spray through stalk or on leaf, compared with plantation without the technology. The total cost for implantação of a canavial with the use of the plant regulator in the toletes was of the R 2.764,46/ha, already in the spray on leaf was of the R2.805,17/ha,whileinthecontrolitwasofR 2.805,17/ha, while in the control it was of R 2.724,09/ha. in spite of the implantation cost with the use of the plant regulator to be larger, they were significant of productivity proportionate increases, with increment of 19,5% when applied in the stalk and 20% in the leaf application, in order to the control. In the conditions in that took place the work, the Stimulate® application in the dose of the 0,5 L/ha it resulted in profit margins better than the control, and for the stalk application the obtained value (26,22%) it was better than in relation to the leaf spray (25,48%).Saccharum spp, biorregulador, custo operacional efetivo, rentabilidade, Saccharum spp, plant growth regulator, cost operating effective, profitability, Crop Production/Industries,

Governance and Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization

The Amazon Cooperation Treaty (ACT) signed on 3 July 1978 by Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela, has the objective to promote joint actions towards the harmonious development of the Amazon Basin as well as “the preservation of the environment, and the conservation and rational utilization of the natural resources of those territories” (art. I). In 1995, the eight nations decided to create the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) in order to strengthen and implement the cooperation and the Treaty goals. The amendment to ACT was approved on 2002, and the Permanent Secretariat was established in Brasilia in December. The Amazon region, plays a strategic role in climate and biodiversity and also in social diversity. The idea of governance applied to Amazon refers to how individuals, public and private institutions manage the common problems of the region, and so the environment, the conservation and rational utilization of the natural resources. Or in other words, the idea of governance refers to “the process of decision-making and the process by which decisions are implemented (or not implemented) “ (UNESCAP). In this sense, the aim of this article is to discuss the governance and the ACTO. Firstly we will highlight the history of ACTO and describe the region and its biological diversity, waters and forests. Secondly we will make the identification of the potential conflicts that deal with socio-environmental issues as well as the actors involved on these conflicts and the development of the region. On a third step we will discuss the evolution of the concept of governance and how it is applied for the ACTO. We will conclude this study by pointing out alternatives for action for the ACTO to improve governance on the region

Neotropical freshwater fisheries : A dataset of occurrence and abundance of freshwater fishes in the Neotropics

The Neotropical region hosts 4225 freshwater fish species, ranking first among the world's most diverse regions for freshwater fishes. Our NEOTROPICAL FRESHWATER FISHES data set is the first to produce a large-scale Neotropical freshwater fish inventory, covering the entire Neotropical region from Mexico and the Caribbean in the north to the southern limits in Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, and Uruguay. We compiled 185,787 distribution records, with unique georeferenced coordinates, for the 4225 species, represented by occurrence and abundance data. The number of species for the most numerous orders are as follows: Characiformes (1289), Siluriformes (1384), Cichliformes (354), Cyprinodontiformes (245), and Gymnotiformes (135). The most recorded species was the characid Astyanax fasciatus (4696 records). We registered 116,802 distribution records for native species, compared to 1802 distribution records for nonnative species. The main aim of the NEOTROPICAL FRESHWATER FISHES data set was to make these occurrence and abundance data accessible for international researchers to develop ecological and macroecological studies, from local to regional scales, with focal fish species, families, or orders. We anticipate that the NEOTROPICAL FRESHWATER FISHES data set will be valuable for studies on a wide range of ecological processes, such as trophic cascades, fishery pressure, the effects of habitat loss and fragmentation, and the impacts of species invasion and climate change. There are no copyright restrictions on the data, and please cite this data paper when using the data in publications

Outcomes in Newly Diagnosed Atrial Fibrillation and History of Acute Coronary Syndromes: Insights from GARFIELD-AF

    No full text
BACKGROUND: Many patients with atrial fibrillation have concomitant coronary artery disease with or without acute coronary syndromes and are in need of additional antithrombotic therapy. There are few data on the long-term clinical outcome of atrial fibrillation patients with a history of acute coronary syndrome. This is a 2-year study of atrial fibrillation patients with or without a history of acute coronary syndromes
