Compromising between European and US allergen immunotherapy schools: Discussions from GUIMIT, the Mexican immunotherapy guidelines
Background: Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) has a longstanding history and still remains the only disease-changing treatment for allergic rhinitis and asthma. Over the years 2 different schools have developed their strategies: the United States (US) and the European. Allergen extracts available in these regions are adapted to local practice. In other parts of the world, extracts from both regions
and local ones are commercialized, as in Mexico. Here, local experts developed a national AIT guideline (GUIMIT 2019) searching for compromises between both schools.
Methods: Using ADAPTE methodology for transculturizing guidelines and AGREE-II for evaluating guideline quality, GUIMIT selected 3 high-quality Main Reference Guidelines (MRGs): the European Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (EAACI) guideines, the S2k guideline of
various German-speaking medical societies (2014), and the US Practice Parameters on Allergen Immunotherapy 2011. We formulated clinical questions and based responses on the fused evidence available in the MRGs, combined with local possibilities, patient's preference, and costs. We
came across several issues on which the MRGs disagreed. These are presented here along with arguments of GUIMIT members to resolve them. GUIMIT (for a complete English version, see Supplementary data) concluded the following:
Results: Related to the diagnosis of IgE-mediated respiratory allergy, apart from skin prick testing
complementary tests (challenges, in vitro testing and molecular such as species-specific allergens) might be useful in selected cases to inform AIT composition. AIT is indicated in allergic rhinitis and suggested in allergic asthma (once controlled) and IgE-mediated atopic dermatitis. Concerning the correct subcutaneous AIT dose for compounding vials according to the US school: dosing tables and formula are given; up to 4 non-related allergens can be mixed, refraining from mixing high with low protease extracts. When using European extracts: the manufacturer's indications
should be followed; in multi-allergic patients 2 simultaneous injections can be given (100% consensus); mixing is discouraged. In Mexico only allergoid tablets are available; based on doses used in all sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) publications referenced in MRGs, GUIMIT suggests a probable effective dose related to subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) might be: 50–200% of the monthly SCIT dose given daily, maximum mixing 4 allergens. Also, a table with practical suggestions on non-evidence-existing issues, developed with a simplified Delphi method, is added.
Finally, dissemination and implementation of guidelines is briefly discussed, explaining how we used online tools for this in Mexico.
Conclusions: Countries where European and American AIT extracts are available should adjust AIT according to which school is followed

derivados de la minería en manos de empresas nacionales y extranjeras omisas y gobiernos cómplices de las consecuencias depredadoras que generan en territorios campesinos e indígenas, debido a su asociación con el narcotráfico y por la contaminación del agua y la tierra que provocan, además de las
consecuencias perversas en la salud humana y el entorno natural en diversas regiones del país.
En la tercera y última sección, Agua: contaminación y escases, los 8 trabajos que la integran, analizan los conflictos socioterritoriales y luchas por la vida, en diversos estados del país. Se trata de investigaciones que estudian movimientos y conflictos sociales actuales en el campo mexicano, como son

Teachers’ Perception in Selecting Virtual Learning Platforms: A Case of Mexican Higher Education during the COVID-19 Crisis
In this project, an analysis is made of the perception of teachers of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) regarding the use of Virtual Learning Platforms (VLP) in the transition from the Traditional Educational Model (face-to-face) to Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT). A statistical analysis of teachers’ views on the academic environment caused by the COVID-19 crisis is carried out for the change of educational scenarios from school to home through VLP, the support for teaching–learning knowledge of VLPs and the received training, and the main problems during the transition period. Through convenience sampling, data was collected for a statistical study using a developed instrument (Data collection was designed through the Google Forms application and distributed to public and private HEI teachers). The results of the study showed that more than 60% of respondents had experience using Moodle, Google Classroom, and Blackboard; 80% of teachers had training from their institution for the use of virtual platforms; and in 60% of cases, higher education institutions allowed them to choose the VLP. In addition, the main issues they faced were connectivity, student attitude, and student attendance at class sessions. Fisher’s test was conducted to determine the relationship in the variables analyzed by identifying that there are differences of teachers in perception depending on age

Desempeño de las competencias genéricas a partir de proyectos de investigación en estudiantes de bachilleratos tecnológicos agropecuarios en Coahuila
Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the generic competencies of students in eight agricultural technological high schools in the state of Coahuila, Mexico. The basis of the evaluation was student research projects on the transfer of technology, socioeconomics, and sustainability. The participants were twelve evaluators who rated the projects using a checklist of nine questions. The differences among the types of projects were not statistically significant; in contrast, differences were detected by evaluator, school, and question type. Discussion involves the pertinence of these projects for implementing tests that evaluate generic competencies in students, as well as the causes of the differences. A research agenda is suggested to further the results of this study.Resumen: El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar las competencias genéricas en estudiantes de ocho centros de Bachillerato Tecnológico Agropecuario en el estado de Coahuila, México. La evaluación se realizó a partir de proyectos de investigación elaborados por los alumnos en las áreas de transferencia de tecnología, socioeconómica y de sustentabilidad. Participaron 12 evaluadores que calificaron los proyectos mediante una lista de cotejo conformada por nueve reactivos. Las diferencias en los tipos de proyectos no fueron estadísticamente significativas; en contraste, se detectaron por evaluador, plantel y tipo de reactivo. Se discute la pertinencia del uso de estos proyectos para implantar pruebas que evalúen competencias genéricas en estudiantes; así como las causas de las diferencias encontradas, sugiriéndose una agenda de investigación que profundice los resultados de este trabajo
Statistical Analysis and Data Envelopment Analysis to Improve the Efficiency of Manufacturing Process of Electrical Conductors
The main focus of this research was to develop an approach using statistical tools and Data envelopment analysis (DEA) to tackling productivity measurements and benchmarking problems in electrical conductor manufacturing environment. In the present work, a tooling efficiency study was carried out with a nozzle used for the manufacture of 23-AWG wires. The efficiency of five types of tooling, four non-Mexican-manufactured types and one Mexican-manufactured type, were compared. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the Tukey test were applied. Six factors were considered that influence of the performance of the tooling during the manufacturing process: productivity, quality, time, machine, operator, and color of the insulating material, but the research work focuses on the efficiency of the tooling die-nozzle. The results demonstrated that two die-nozzle models exhibited the best performance; one of them was the Mexican model, surpassed by a non-Mexican model, the capability process index Cpk = 1.26 manifested a better performance for the 3DND die-nozzle according to the statistical analysis and the tests performed. Subsequently, through a super-efficiency DEA model of inputs-oriented with non-decreasing returns to scale (NDRS). The results obtained in the statistical analysis were corroborated using this technique, its application combined with statistical tools represents an innovation for knowledge in manufacturing processes of electrical conductors.
