    Análisis de la oferta y demanda en el sector de construcción de edificaciones residenciales alrededor de la gestión empresarial en los Grupos de Interés

    The global market was immersed in an environment of economic and political uncertainty, where trade and industrial production showed signs of marked weakness. However, in developing countries like Colombia, with a moderate expected economic growth, attributed to the implementation of strategies aimed at creating jobs, building public infrastructure and services to meet the needs of their rapidly expanding and urbanizing populations. Consequently, this research analyzed the external phenomena that have impacted the Colombian economy on the construction sector's housing supply and demand behavior. All the above, through the analysis of economic indicators, public policies, and stakeholder management around the use of tools, approaches, and methodologies established by different standards in project management and the analysis of a business sample located in the city of Tunja. As mentioned above, it allowed the establishment of susceptibility to external economic phenomena and government policies in the construction sector. Those would enable the increased demand and boost other areas of the economy through stakeholders' effect in the supply and business capacities concerning its management, recognizing the expectations in the formulation and elaboration of projects in the current context. Nevertheless, companies related to the construction sector do not have adequate tools and personnel for this integral development, allowing them to identify factors when evaluating stakeholder management's business capacities, contributing to generating new methodologies and instruments that enable increasing construction projects' success.El mercado mundial se encuentra inmerso en un entorno de incertidumbre económica y política, donde el comercio y la producción industrial muestran signos de marcada debilidad. Sin embargo, en países en vías de desarrollo como Colombia, existe una expectativa de crecimiento económico moderado, atribuido a la implementación de estrategias orientadas a la creación de empleo, construcción de infraestructura pública y servicios para satisfacer las necesidades de su población en rápida expansión y urbanización. En consecuencia, esta investigación analiza los fenómenos externos que han impactado la economía colombiana en el comportamiento de la oferta y demanda de vivienda del sector de la construcción. Todo lo anterior, a través del análisis de indicadores económicos, políticas públicas y gestión de actores en torno al uso de herramientas, enfoques y metodologías establecidas por diferentes estándares en la gestión de proyectos junto con el análisis de una muestra empresarial ubicada en la ciudad de Tunja. Como se mencionó anteriormente, permitió establecer la susceptibilidad de los fenómenos económicos externos y las políticas gubernamentales en el sector de la construcción. Estas permitirían aumentar la demanda e impulsar otras áreas de la economía por efecto de los actores de la oferta y las capacidades empresariales en cuanto a su gestión, reconociendo las expectativas en la formulación y elaboración de proyectos en el contexto actual. Sin embargo, las empresas relacionadas con el sector de la construcción no cuentan con las herramientas ni con el personal adecuado para este desarrollo integral, lo que permite identificar los factores a la hora de evaluar las capacidades empresariales en torno a la gestión de los grupos de interés, contribuyendo a generar nuevas metodologías e instrumentos que permitan incrementar el éxito en los proyectos de construcción

    El desarrollo de la presenta tesis está orientado a brindar una alternativa técnico – práctica en el campo de las comunicaciones ópticas. El diseño y elaboración de un kit de entrenamiento sobre la transmisión de señales a través de Fibra Óptica permite a través de circuitos básicos poner en práctica los principios que gobiernan el manejo de la luz en el interior de la fibra óptica. Sustentada en un marco teórico, se elaboraron prácticas de laboratorio cuyo objetivo es mostrar variedad de alternativas al momento de realizar una transmisión sobre fibra óptica. Estar en capacidad de reconocer las ventajas de los diferentes tipos de fuentes emisoras de luz y en base a estas poder escoger el receptor más adecuado según el tipo de transmisión deseada sea esta analógica o digital. Se pone énfasis en el empleo de la fibra de plástico mostrando sus principales ventajas frente a la tradicional fibra de vidrio. Tener en consideración las aplicaciones brindadas por la fibra de plástico que en algunas ocasiones sobrepasan los alcances reconocidos con la fibra de vidrio es uno de los objetivos de la presente tesis

    Effectiveness of polyhexamethylene biguanide dressings vs. platelet-rich plasma in diabetic foot ulcer: a pilot study of case series

    Diverse treatments, including polyhexamethylene biguanide dressings, have been explored for managing diabetic foot ulcers. Platelet-rich plasma, known for its potential in chronic wound healing, has demonstrated efficacy both in vivo and in vitro, with possible intralesional or topical application. However, research on the production costs of PRP is scarce. This study compares the effectiveness and financial implications of polyhexamethylene biguanide dressings versus Platelet-rich Plasma in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Conducted at the General Hospital of Mexico from July to August 2019, this case series involved 8 patients, split equally between the two treatment groups. Weekly assessments showed consistent reductions in wound size in both groups. By the fourth week, 75% of patients achieved clinical healing. The PHMB group demonstrated a 75.13% reduction in wound size, compared to a 37.38% reduction in the PRP group. However, due to the small sample size, no statistical significance was found between wound size, healing time, and dressing type. This report suggests no clear relationship between treatment, healing duration, and wound diameter. Additionally, PRP did not show a clear financial advantage over PHMB dressings. Randomized control trials with sufficient sample sizes are required to demonstrate overall advantage for each therapy choice

    Beneficial effect of moderate exercise in kidney of rat after chronic consumption of cola drinks

    Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of moderate intensity exercise on kidney in an animal model of high consumption of cola soft drinks. Methods: Forty-eight Wistar Kyoto rats (age: 16 weeks; weight: 350-400 g) were assigned to the following groups: WR (water runners) drank water and submitted to aerobic exercise; CR (cola runners) drank cola and submitted to aerobic exercise; WS (water sedentary) and CS (cola sedentary), not exercised groups. The aerobic exercise was performed for 5 days per week throughout the study (24 weeks) and the exercise intensity was gradually increased during the first 8 weeks until it reached 20 meters / minute for 30 minutes. Body weight, lipid profile, glycemia, plasma creatinine levels, atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and systolic blood pressure (SBP) were determined. After 6 months all rats were sacrificed. A kidney histopathological score was obtained using a semiquantitative scale. Glomerular size and glomerulosclerosis were estimated by point-counting. The oxidative stress and proinflammatory status were explored by immunohistochemistry. A one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Tukey-Kramer post-hoc test or the Kruskal-Wallis test with Dunn's post-hoc test was used for statistics. A value of p < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: At 6 months, an increased consumption of cola soft drink was shown in CS and CR compared with water consumers (p<0.0001). Chronic cola consumption was associated with increased plasma triglycerides, AIP, heart rate, histopathological score, glomerulosclerosis, oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory status. On the other hand, moderate exercise prevented these findings. No difference was observed in the body weight, SBP, glycemia, cholesterol and plasma creatinine levels across experimental groups. Conclusions: This study warns about the consequences of chronic consumption of cola drinks on lipid metabolism, especially regarding renal health.     Validity and reliability of an optoelectronic system to measure movement velocity during bench press and half squat in a Smith machine

    The purpose of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of a camera-based optoelectronic system to measure movement velocity during bench press and half squat at different load intensities. A total of 22 active males (age: 28.2 +/- 3.9 years; one-repetition maximum bench press: 77.9 +/- 19.0 kg; one-repetition maximum half squat: 116.6 +/- 22.5 kg) participated in this study. After an initial one-repetition maximum testing session, participants performed five repetitions for each load (40%, 60% and 80% one-repetition maximum) and exercise (bench press and half squat) on a Smith machine in the second testing session. A third testing session was used for the test-retest reliability study. Time, displacement and mean propulsive velocity were simultaneously determined by the reference method (T-Force system) and the Velowin system. In bench press, ordinary least products regression analysis revealed low fixed biases for mean propulsive velocity at 40%, time at 60% and displacement at 80% one-repetition maximum (intercept = 0.065 m s(-1), -28.02 ms and 0.87 cm, respectively). In half squat, low fixed biases were also detected for mean propulsive velocity at 40% and 80% one-repetition maximum (intercept = -0.040 and 0.023 m s(-1), respectively), time at 40% and 60% one-repetition maximum (intercept = -53.05 and -101.85 ms, respectively) and displacement at 60% one-repetition maximum (intercept = -1.95 cm). Proportional bias was only observed for mean propulsive velocity at 80% bench press. In half squat, there was proportional bias for time and mean propulsive velocity at 40% one-repetition maximum, and also for time at 60% one-repetition maximum. The reliability test showed low and comparable fixed and proportional biases between systems across exercises and intensities. Velowin confirmed to be a valid and reliable system to measure movement velocity across a wide range of intensities (40%-80% one-repetition maximum) for two basic strength exercises through a robust statistical approach. Velowin would provide coaches and trainers with a suitable, affordable and easy-to-use equipment capable of measuring movement velocity in various exercises at different load intensities

    Análisis del impacto del sector de la construcción en la economía colombiana

    Objective: Construction is one of the fastest growing and most important economic sectors worldwide, mainly due to its impact on job creation, trade in materials and the creation of essential infrastructure for social development. However, the behavior of the global market has recently been immersed in an environment of economic and political uncertainty, causing trade and industrial production to show signs of vulnerability. Despite the unfortunate ones established in the global economy, there will be moderate growth in rankings of developing countries like Colombia in different sectors. Methodology: Consequently, this research focused on analyzing the construction sector starting from its historical impact on Colombian economic development and its relationship with external phenomena, to the evaluation of macroeconomic indicators, supply and demand for capital goods, infrastructure and job creation through the formulation of projects in this sector, which are differential for having a public investment effect in the construction of houses and civil works. Results and conclusions: Likewise, deduce a weak recovery in the general market in relation to the factors surrounding the construction sector, evaluate and focus trends and the impact on the formulation of construction projects in the Colombian economy.Objetivo: La construcción es uno de los sectores económicos de mayor crecimiento e importancia en a nivel mundial, principalmente por su impacto en la generación de empleo, el comercio de materiales y la creación de infraestructura esencial para el desarrollo social. Sin embargo, el comportamiento del mercado global recientemente ha estado inmerso en un ambiente de incertidumbre económica y política, ocasionando que el comercio y producción industrial mostrarán signos de vulnerabilidad. A pesar de los desafortunados pronósticos en materia de economía a nivel global, se prevé un crecimiento moderado en clasificaciones de países en vía de desarrollo como Colombia en diferentes sectores. Metodología: En consecuencia, la presente investigación se enfocó en analizar el sector de la construcción partiendo desde su incidencia histórica en el desarrollo económico colombiano y su relación con fenómenos externos, hasta la evaluación de indicadores macroeconómicos, la oferta y demanda en bienes de capital, la infraestructura y la generación de empleo mediante la formulación de proyectos en este sector, los cuales son diferenciales por tener un efecto de inversión pública en la construcción de vivienda y obras civiles. Resultados y conclusiones: Igualmente, se dedujo una débil recuperación del mercado general en relación con los factores alrededor del sector de la construcción, permitiendo vislumbrar y focalizar las tendencias e impacto en la formulación de proyectos de construcción en la economía colombiana

    New Evidence on Regucalcin, Body Composition, and Walking Ability Adaptations to Multicomponent Exercise Training in Functionally Limited and Frail Older Adults

    Background: Regucalcin, or senescence marker protein-30 (SMP30), is a Ca2+-binding protein with multiple functions reported in the literature. Physical exercise has been shown to improve aging markers; nevertheless, SMP30 in humans has not been extensively researched. Older adults experience a decline in functional capacity and body composition. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a multicomponent training (MCT) program on SMP30 and its regulation of walking ability and body composition in functionally limited, frail, and pre-frail older adults. Methods: A total of 34 older adults (aged 80.3 +/- 6.1 years) were divided into an intervention group (IG = 20) and control group (CG = 14). The IG performed a supervised MCT (strength, endurance, balance, coordination, and flexibility) program for 6 months, 3 days per week, whereas the CG continued their normal lives without any specific physical training. SMP30 was analyzed in plasma after 3 and 6 months of MCT, while some physical fitness variables (Timed Up and Go (TUG) and 6-min walk test (6MWT)) and body composition (fat mass and lean mass) were measured at baseline, as well as after 3 months and 6 months of MCT. Results: No significant changes were observed in SPM30 between the IG (877.5 a.u. to 940.5 a.u., respectively) and CG (790.4 a.u. to 763.8 a.u., respectively). Moreover, no SMP30 differences were found between groups after 3 and 6 months of MCT. The IG improved significantly in the 6MWT after 3 months (472.2 +/- 84.2 m) compared to baseline (411.2 +/- 75.2 m). The IG also significantly enhanced their TUG performance after 3 months (7.6 +/- 1.6 s) and 6 months (7.3 +/- 1.8 s) of training compared to baseline (9.3 +/- 3.2 s) (all, p < 0.001). There were no significant differences in body composition between the IG and CG through the 6 months of MCT. Conclusions: The present study suggests that MCT did not change SMP30 levels from 3 to 6 months, where there were changes in neither walking ability nor body composition; however, MCT was effective in improving 6MWT and TUG performance from baseline to 3 months

    Design and construction of tank-chassis and lifting structure for centrifugal pump HL260 M powered by a Diesel Engine

    This article deals with the design, simulation and construction of a fuel storage tank-chassis and a lifting system coupled as a single unit to a Cummins QSK19 engine driven HL260m pump that can guarantee an operating autonomy of up to 12 continuous hours and can be transported to different locations by means of lifting systems. For the mechanical design the recommendations of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and the application of the failure criteria for Von Mises ductile materials or Maximum Energy Distortion were used. For the dimensioning of the storage tank, the average consumption stipulated by the manufacturer was used and the simulations were performed with SolidWorks®. A functional and safe system that can be used in on-site applications was achieved

    Comparative Analysis of Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Pharmacological Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Latin America

    Purpose of review: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the world. The majority of diabetes deaths (> 80%) occur in low- and middle-income countries, which are predominant in Latin America. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to compare the clinical practice guideline (CPG) for the pharmacological management of T2DM in Latin America (LA) with international reference guidelines. Recent findings: Several LA countries have recently developed CPGs. However, the quality of these guidelines is unknown according to the AGREE II tool and taking as reference three CPGs of international impact: American Diabetes Association (ADA), European Diabetes Association (EASD), and Latin American Diabetes Association (ALAD). Ten CPGs were selected for analysis. The ADA scored > 80% on the AGREE II domains and was selected as the main comparator. Eighty percent of LA CPGs were developed before 2018. Only one was not recommended (all domains < 60%). The CPGs in LA have good quality but are outdated. They have significant gaps compared to the reference. There is a need for improvement, as proposing updates every three years to maintain the best available clinical evidence in all guidelines.This research was funded by SANOFI and was developed by Sapyens SAS BIC.S
