    The effects of explicit chiral symmetry breaking multiquark interactions on the spin 0 and 1 meson nonets: the ruling of the vector mesons

    We have recently extended the scalar-pseudoscalar sector of a generalized NJL Lagrangian that includes all NLO non derivative interactions in Nc counting (including explicit symmetry breaking ones) in order to incorporate the spin 1 mesons in the low-lying ground state of QCD [1]. Upon bosonization, the well known mixing of the scalar-vector and of the pseudoscalar- axial-vector fields occurs in the quadratic part of the Lagrangian. We show that a linearized diagonalization of these terms can be effected in a completely general way without compromising the underlying symmetries of the Lagrangian [2]. The resulting spin 1 mass spectra evidence a relation involving only the vector and axial-vector meson masses and the constituent quark masses. We discuss the dominant role of this relation in the fits and we show that the model may be fitted to accommodate to a very good accuracy the 4 low-lying meson spectra.Comment: 5 pages, 3 tables; based on a talk given at Hadron 2017, Salamanc

    A general framework to diagonalize vector--scalar and axial-vector--pseudoscalar transitions in the effective meson Lagrangian

    A new mathematical framework for the diagonalization of the nondiagonal vector--scalar and axial-vector--pseudoscalar mixing in the effective meson Lagrangian is described. This procedure has unexpected connections with the Hadamard product of n×nn\times n matrices describing the couplings, masses, and fields involved. The approach is shown to be much more efficient as compared with the standard methods employed previously. The difference is especially noticeable if the chiral symmetry is broken explicitly. The paper ends with an illustrative application to the chiral model with broken SU(3)L×SU(3)RSU(3)_L\times SU(3)_R symmetry.Comment: 16 page

    Spectral functions and time evolution from the Chebyshev recursion

    We link linear prediction of Chebyshev and Fourier expansions to analytic continuation. We push the resolution in the Chebyshev-based computation of T=0T=0 many-body spectral functions to a much higher precision by deriving a modified Chebyshev series expansion that allows to reduce the expansion order by a factor 16\sim\frac{1}{6}. We show that in a certain limit the Chebyshev technique becomes equivalent to computing spectral functions via time evolution and subsequent Fourier transform. This introduces a novel recursive time evolution algorithm that instead of the group operator eiHte^{-iHt} only involves the action of the generator HH. For quantum impurity problems, we introduce an adapted discretization scheme for the bath spectral function. We discuss the relevance of these results for matrix product state (MPS) based DMRG-type algorithms, and their use within dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). We present strong evidence that the Chebyshev recursion extracts less spectral information from HH than time evolution algorithms when fixing a given amount of created entanglement.Comment: 12 pages + 6 pages appendix, 11 figure

    Spectrophotometric determination of the deltamethrin

    In the province of Corrientes is found highest production of indoor plants from all Argentina, specially in the northeast of this province. This is because the low frequency orthelack of frosts, allowing a lower cost in the production, since heating is not needed. In this type of cultive is commonly used thedeltamethrin, as the result of this, the validation of a simple method comparable with the gas chromatography for the determination of this Pesticide on both, irrigation and consumption water, was studied. In this work, a spectrophotometric method is proposed for the determination of deltamethrin inirrigation water from the area of flower crops located in the Department of Concepción in the province of Corrientes. Deltamethrin solutions in a range from 0,025 to 1 mg/L on irrigation water were prepared. The absorbance spectrum was scanned between 200 and 400 nm. The maximum absorbance was found at 220 nm. A calibration curve in the range from 0.025 to 1 mg/L, responded to A = (0.3246± 0.0224) C + (0.0096 ± 0.0068) with R2 = 0.998. The % RSD was 0.961 indicating good repeatability for the analytical procedure. The accuracy in the recovery experience was 99.0 - 109.6%. The statistical comparison using the t-test and the F-test indicates that there are no significant differences between GC and spectrophotometric methods, with a confidence level of 95%.     Self-gravitating fragmentation of eccentric accretion disks

    We consider the effects of eccentricity on the fragmentation of gravitationally unstable accretion disks, using numerical hydrodynamics. We find that eccentricity does not affect the overall stability of the disk against fragmentation, but significantly alters the manner in which such fragments accrete gas. Variable tidal forces around an eccentric orbit slow the accretion process, and suppress the formation of weakly-bound clumps. The "stellar" mass function resulting from the fragmentation of an eccentric disk is found to have a significantly higher characteristic mass than that from a corresponding circular disk. We discuss our results in terms of the disk(s) of massive stars at ~0.1pc from the Galactic Center, and find that the fragmentation of an eccentric accretion disk, due to gravitational instability, is a viable mechanism for the formation of these systems.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures.     Ossos de pterosauro da Formação Portezuelo (Cretáceo), Grupo Neuquén, Patagônia, Argentina

    The Futalognko quarry, located 90km northwest of Neuquén city, Argentina, has yielded several fossil vertebrates. All come from the upper part of the Portezuelo Formation (Turonian-Early Coniacian) and include some pterosaur remains, the first ones from the Cretaceous strata of the Neuquén Group. The material consists of a proximal end of a large ulna (MUCPv-358), the proximal part of a wing-phalanx (MUCPv-359), and another ulna associated with a radius (MUCPv-600). All specimens are referred to the Pterodactyloidea, and possibly represent members of the Azhdarchoidea. Histological sections of the large ulna (MUCPv-358) indicate that it belonged to an animal that was still growing at time of death. Comparisons with more complete specimens indicate that MUCPv-358 represents an animal with a wingspan of six meters, making it the largest pterosaur known from Argentina.O jazigo Futalognko está situado 90km a noroeste da cidade de Neuquén, Argentina, e forneceu uma grande quantidade de vertebrados fósseis, todos da parte superior da Formação Portezuelo (Turoniano- Eoconiaciano). Dentre os exemplares recuperados encontram-se alguns exemplares de pterossauros indicando a primeira ocorrência deste grupo para as rochas cretácicas do Grupo Neuquén. O material está representado pela parte proximal de uma ulna de grandes proporções (MUCPv-358), a parte proximal de uma primeira falange alar (MUCPv-359), e uma segunda ulna associada com o rádio (MUCPv-600). Todos estes exemplares são referidos a Pterodactyloidea e possivelmente representam formas de Azhdarchoidea. Seções histológicas da ulna maior (MUCPv-358) indicam que ela representa um animal jovem que estava em fase de crescimento quando morreu. Comparações com outros exemplares mais completos sugerem que MUCPv-358 tenha pertencido a um pterossauro com uma abertura alar em torno de seis metros, fazendo dele o maior réptil voador coletado até o presente momento na Argentina

    Frequency of genetic polymorphisms of PXR gene in the Brazilian population

    INTRODUCTION: PXR polymorphisms have been implicated in modulating CYP3A4 and PXR expression, potentially accounting for interindividual differences in drug metabolism. The prevalence of PXR polymorphisms varies among ethnic groups and data on the allelic distribution in the highly mixed Brazilian population is lacking. The aim of this study was to analyze genetic variations in the PXR gene in Brazilians and to compare the results to other ethnic groups. METHODS: DNA samples from 117 healthy Brazilians underwent PCR amplification and sequencing. RESULTS: Eleven polymorphisms were identified, 3 of which are highly associated with differences in CYP3A4 expression. We also identified 1 new synonymous variant in 1.3% of the alleles. Among the functional polymorphisms, -25913 C&gt;T and -6994T&gt;C occurred at a higher frequency comparedtothe Africanalleles (p < 0.05) but at a lower frequency compared to Caucasian alleles. The 8055 C&gt;T allele was found at a similar frequency to those described in Caucasians and Africans (p &gt; 0.05). CONCLUSION: We observed that functional variants of the PXR were frequent in our sample of the Brazilian population. Our results suggest that PXR gene variants may be of interest in pharmacogenetic studies involving Brazilians
