Anàlisi dels Estudis bibliomètrics a Catalunya

Objectius: descriure des d'una perspectiva quantitativa la producció de treballs bibliomètrics duts a terme a Catalunya. En aquest article s'aborden les publicacions que utilitzen eines bibliomètriques per conèixer característiques de la producció científica, però no s'hi inclouen les que tenen per objectiu fer aportacions metodològiques o la disquisició sobre els mateixos mètodes i tècniques utilitzats en bibliometria. Metodologia: s'han analitzat mitjançant eines bibliomètriques els registres d'una base de dades relacional obtinguts mitjançant fonts diverses, com ara les bases bibliogràfiques del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), LISA: Library and Information Science Abstracts, Library Literature & Information Science Index, i Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts. També s'han fet cerques a recursos com, per exemple, el PubMed, Dialnet, Google Scholar i s'han obtingut referències per encadenament. Resultats: s'han identificat 297 documents, dels quals un 76,8 % són articles de revista. Es detecta una quantitat considerable d'àrees de coneixement abordades pels estudis bibliomètrics, entre els quals destaquen especialment els de biomedicina. Hi ha també una important dispersió de revistes que respon a l'espectre d'àrees analitzades. En general predominen els estudis que tenen com a abast Espanya, encara que hi ha variacions que també responen a aquest ventall d'àrees. MOMFER: una eina de cerca de motius folklòrics en el context de les humanitats digitals

El segle XXI ha dut la irrupció significativa de les tecnologies de la informació en la recerca desenvolupada a l'àrea de les humanitats. La intervenció de les unitats d'informació, especialment de les biblioteques universitàries, ha tingut i ha de tenir encara un paper significatiu en processos com la digitalització, però també en la formació i divulgació dels recursos. El folklore, com a disciplina d'humanitats, no està exempt d'aquesta evolució. En aquest context s'analitza el MOMFER, un recurs en línia que millora substancialment l'ús del Thompson's Motif-Index of Folk Literature. Això no obstant, atès l'ambiciós objectiu perquè l'eina sigui la base d'un índex complet universal, caldrà capacitat de lideratge, i, segurament, habilitar o desenvolupar espais vinculats de col·laboració virtual

Cross-disciplinary collaboration versus coexistence in LIS serials: analysis of authorship affiliations in four European countries

The interdisciplinary nature of library and information science (LIS) research has been highlighted for some time now. The term 'interdisciplinary' is used primarily in the LIS literature as a general concept with different meanings that refer either to the coexistence of researchers from different scientific fields or to cross-disciplinary collaboration expressed in the form of coauthorship. This study analyses the disciplinary profile of LIS researchers with a view to ascertaining the actual level of cross-disciplinary collaboration and identifying all fields involved. Because of the complexity of identifying accurate affiliations at knowledge area level, the study was limited to authors from France, Germany, Spain and the UK. This analysis of authorship affiliation was performed based on research published in LIS serial titles indexed in Scopus during the 2010-2017 period. A rigorous and laborious process of identifying author affiliations was carried out. This involved checking the authorship of each paper and complementing this with information from websites, scientific social networks and other research endeavours whenever ambiguous situations arose. We observed that LIS departments produce barely a third of the research published in serial titles in the LIS subject category. Cross-disciplinary collaboration among all of the scientific fields involved is low, and even lower in LIS than in other fields. The low level of cross-disciplinary collaboration in LIS contradicts the interdisciplinary nature of LIS highlighted in the literature

Evolution of research on prison library: A bibliometric study

The primary objective of the article is to present the historical evolution and current state of research in the field of prison libraries: what has been published, when, where, how and by whom it was published, the topic covered, etc. The study is based on the results obtained from the bibliographic databases LISA (ProQuest) and LISTA (EBSCO Publishing) up to early 2023. Entries were manually checked for irrelevant publications, and filters and specific tools, such as OpenRefine, followed by a final manual check, were used to remove duplicate entries. The same mechanisms were used for detecting duplicated entries regarding author, country, journal title, topic, etc. The analysis shows a prevailing publication profile of scarce scientific relevance, with a predominance of the description and the speculation rather than empirical statements. To overcome these limitations, it is proposed the use of scientific methods and techniques that enhance the rigour of results; to progress from the simple description of services, programs, activities, collaborations, etc., to an evaluation of them; and to work with other professionals, both from the library sector and from other disciplines

Book Fairs in Catalonia: Historical Note and Attempt at Classification

The aims of this paper are to offer a brief historical account of book fairs in Catalonia based on a review of documentary materials and to provide a broad outline of their variety and typology. The proposed classification is predicated on previous studies that have addressed the characteristics that identify different types of book fair. The results show some degree of proliferation in book fairs in recent years, reflecting an attempt to develop them as tools for economic and cultural promotion. Barcelona is the host city of a large number of the events, but they also take place in 16 other comarcas, or districts, of Catalonia. The vast majority have a regional geographical scope and are intended for the general public. Although there is a diversity of products across the fairs, the predominant focus is on new books generally, not specific subject matter. In terms of the management of the book fairs, cultural institutions are the leading group, but it is also common to find book-related guilds and public administrations in charge of the events
