Teaching models and localâarea networks
The thesis of this paper is that new advances in both microtechnology and LAN technology can now provide teachers with flexible and exciting instructional tools which allow for a powerful integration of teaching model, curriculum content and technology. The first section describes some of the current applications of schoolâbased LANs. The second section discusses various teaching models, and describes an inâdepth example of how a teacher may go about providing instruction by combining a LAN and these models. The third section addresses the feasibility of such an instructional approach
A Topological Characterization Of Knots and Links Arising From Site-Specific Recombination
We develop a topological model of knots and links arising from a single (or
multiple processive) round(s) of recombination starting with an unknot, unlink,
or (2,m)-torus knot or link substrate. We show that all knotted or linked
products fall into a single family, and prove that the size of this family
grows linearly with the cube of the minimum number of crossings. Additionally,
we prove that the only possible products of an unknot substrate are either
clasp knots and links or (2,m)-torus knots and links. Finally, in the (common)
case of (2,m)-torus knot or link substrates whose products have minimal
crossing number m+1, we prove that the types of products are tightly
prescribed, and use this to examine previously uncharacterized experimental
data.Comment: 18 pages, 3 tables, 18 figures. See also arXiv:0707.3775v1 for

Narrative Style and the Female Story in Pride and Prejudice, Bridget Jonesâs Diary, and The Lizzie Bennet Diaries
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen has remained relevant since its publication in 1813, in part due to the popularity of numerous adaptations in multiple mediums. Pride and Prejudice is a novel that champions protofeminism as well as offers 1 an example of Austenâs unique style of writing. The story follows the Bennet family, and specifically the second oldest daughter Elizabeth, as their mother searches for husbands for her five daughters. Elizabeth is a woman that is expected to enter into a successful marriage, which would be defined by financial security for herself and her family. However, she refuses this and instead seeks happiness, freedom, and choice in her life. As the story progresses Elizabeth emerges as a character that is fiercely independent while at the same time heavily conscious of what others think. This is shown time and again through the narrator, as the narrator serves as a source of honesty in the midst of stubborn characters
Characterization of wear debris generated in accelerated rolling-element fatigue tests
A ferrographic analysis was used to determine the types and quantities of wear debris generated during accelerated rolling contact fatigue tests. The five-ball rolling contact fatigue tester was used. Ball specimens were made of a corrosion resistant, high-temperature bearing steel. The lubricant was a superrefined naphthenic mineral oil. Conditions included a maximum Hertz stress of 5.52 10 to the 9th power Pa and a shaft speed of 10,000 rpm. Four types of wear debris were observed: (1) normal rubbing wear particles, (2) fatigue microspall particles, (3) spheres, and (4) friction polymer deposits. The characterization of wear debris as a function of time was of limited use in predicting fatigue failures in these accelerated tests
Ferrographic analysis of wear debris generated in accelerated rolling element fatigue tests
The types and quantities of wear particles generated during accelerated ball rolling contact fatigue tests were determined. Ball specimens were made of AMS 5749, a corrosion resistant, high-temperature bearing steel. The lubricant was a super-refined naphthenic mineral oil. Conditions included a maximum Hertz stress of 5.215 times 10 to the 9th power Pa and a shaft speed of 10,000 rpm. Four types of wear particles were observed; normal rubbing wear particles, fatigue spall particles, spheres, and friction polymer
Pavlov Patient Database
This project is implementing and deploying a functional patient database with customizable treatment plans and progress notes for Choices!, a counseling service center. To build this application and support the various requirements, several frameworks were considered for this project including Django, Flask, and Ruby on Rails. The Ruby on Rails suite was selected for reasons of existing familiarity for the team. Existing libraries within Rails allow for a choice of several database engines; MySQL, Postgresql, MongoDB, and NoSQL were considered. MySQL was adopted as a result of the extensive documentation and for continuity with the previous solution. Front-end requirements were met with a combination of HTML and Javascript, linked to a Bootstrap 5 framework in order to streamline user accessibility. A key quality desired by the customer was ease-of-use, to encourage higher efficiency and easy adoption by the stakeholders. In the process of development, secure data handling also emerged as a further and highly-desired attribute

We review Emanuel J. Drechsel's book, Language Contact in the Early Colonial Pacific, which documents an eighteenth- and nineteenth-century pidgin that emerged before Euro-American dominance in the Pacific and that reflects the dramatic changes in power from then to now
A Proposed Adult Education Program And Its Needs For The Timpson School And Nearby Communities
INTRODUCTION
Adult education is a process by which all adults may develop their talents and abilities to the extent that contribute most to the welfare of both themselves and others.
There has always been some form of adult education. The nature of man was such that his environment, both natural and social became an educational force. This informal education was suitable to the simple and informal life of the past. But as society became more highly organized and complex, the gap between the informal education provided by the environment became wider and wider. The changes became so rapid and complex that even the formal education provided the youth was not adequate to the demands of adult life. So special agencies and programs were provided to supplement the education received by adults in their childhood and youth and to provide retraining to meet the demands of an ever-changing society.
Any program of adult education to be worthy of the name must have flexibility. It must be ready to carry on any type of activities in terms of the traditional classroom setup or otherwise. It must be ready to provide its services anywhere and at any time needed. It must be able to furnish teachers\u27 experience in terms of the activity for which they are needed
