The HR 4796A Debris System: Discovery of Extensive Exo-Ring Dust Material
The optically and IR bright, and starlight-scattering, HR 4796A ring-like
debris disk is one of the most (and best) studied exoplanetary debris systems.
The presence of a yet-undetected planet has been inferred (or suggested) from
the narrow width and inner/outer truncation radii of its r = 1.05" (77 au)
debris ring. We present new, highly sensitive, Hubble Space Telescope (HST)
visible-light images of the HR 4796A circumstellar debris system and its
environment over a very wide range of stellocentric angles from 0.32" (23 au)
to ~ 15" (1100 au). These very high contrast images were obtained with the
Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) using 6-roll PSF-template
subtracted coronagraphy suppressing the primary light of HR 4796A and using
three image plane occulters and simultaneously subtracting the background light
from its close angular proximity M2.5V companion. The resulting images
unambiguously reveal the debris ring embedded within a much larger,
morphologically complex, and bi-axially asymmetric exoring scattering
structure. These images at visible wavelengths are sensitive to, and map, the
spatial distribution, brightness, and radial surface density of micron size
particles over 5 dex in surface brightness. These particles in the exo-ring
environment may be unbound from the system and interacting with the local ISM.
Herein we present a new morphological and photometric view of the larger than
prior seen HR 4796A exoplanetary debris system with sensitivity to small
particles at stellocentric distances an order of magnitude greater than has

The Transit Light Curve Project. VII. The Not-So-Bloated Exoplanet HAT-P-1b
We present photometry of the G0 star HAT-P-1 during six transits of its
close-in giant planet, and we refine the estimates of the system parameters.
Relative to Jupiter's properties, HAT-P-1b is 1.20 +/- 0.05 times larger and
its surface gravity is 2.7 +/- 0.2 times weaker. Although it remains the case
that HAT-P-1b is among the least dense of the known sample of transiting
exoplanets, its properties are in accord with previously published models of
strongly irradiated, coreless, solar-composition giant planets. The times of
the transits have a typical accuracy of 1 min and do not depart significantly

Some exact non-vacuum Bianchi VI0 and VII0 instantons
We report some new exact instantons in general relativity. These solutions
are K\"ahler and fall into the symmetry classes of Bianchi types VI0 and VII0,
with matter content of a stiff fluid. The qualitative behaviour of the
solutions is presented, and we compare it to the known results of the
corresponding self-dual Bianchi solutions. We also give axisymmetric Bianchi

Bianchi VIII Empty Futures
Using a qualitative analysis based on the Hamiltonian formalism and the
orthonormal frame representation we investigate whether the chaotic behaviour
which occurs close to the initial singularity is still present in the far
future of Bianchi VIII models. We describe some features of the vacuum Bianchi
VIII models at late times which might be relevant for studying the nature of
the future asymptote of the general vacuum inhomogeneous solution to the

Debris Disks of Members of the Blanco 1 Open Cluster
We have used the Spitzer Space Telescope to obtain Multiband Imaging
Photometer for Spitzer (MIPS) 24 um photometry for 37 members of the ~100 Myr
old open cluster Blanco 1. For the brightest 25 of these stars (where we have
3sigma uncertainties less than 15%), we find significant mid-IR excesses for
eight stars, corresponding to a debris disk detection frequency of about 32%.
The stars with excesses include two A stars, four F dwarfs and two G dwarfs.
The most significant linkage between 24 um excess and any other stellar
property for our Blanco 1 sample of stars is with binarity. Blanco 1 members
that are photometric binaries show few or no detected 24 um excesses whereas a
quarter of the apparently single Blanco 1 members do have excesses. We have
examined the MIPS data for two other clusters of similar age to Blanco 1 -- NGC
2547 and the Pleiades. The AFGK photometric binary star members of both of
these clusters also show a much lower frequency of 24 um excesses compared to
stars that lie near the single-star main sequence. We provide a new
determination of the relation between V-Ks color and Ks-[24] color for main
sequence photospheres based on Hyades members observed with MIPS. As a result
of our analysis of the Hyades data, we identify three low mass Hyades members
as candidates for having debris disks near the MIPS detection limit.Comment: Accepted to Ap

Estimating survival in patients with gastrointestinal cancers and brain metastases: An update of the graded prognostic assessment for gastrointestinal cancers (GI-GPA).
BackgroundPatients with gastrointestinal cancers and brain metastases (BM) represent a unique and heterogeneous population. Our group previously published the Diagnosis-Specific Graded Prognostic Assessment (DS-GPA) for patients with GI cancers (GI-GPA) (1985-2007, n = 209). The purpose of this study is to update the GI-GPA based on a larger contemporary database.MethodsAn IRB-approved consortium database analysis was performed using a multi-institutional (18), multi-national (3) cohort of 792 patients with gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, with newly-diagnosed BM diagnosed between 1/1/2006 and 12/31/2017. Survival was measured from date of first treatment for BM. Multiple Cox regression was used to select and weight prognostic factors in proportion to their hazard ratios. These factors were incorporated into the updated GI-GPA.ResultsMedian survival (MS) varied widely by primary site and other prognostic factors. Four significant factors (KPS, age, extracranial metastases and number of BM) were used to formulate the updated GI-GPA. Overall MS for this cohort remains poor; 8 months. MS by GPA was 3, 7, 11 and 17 months for GPA 0-1, 1.5-2, 2.5-3.0 and 3.5-4.0, respectively. >30% present in the worst prognostic group (GI-GPA of ≤1.0).ConclusionsBrain metastases are not uncommon in GI cancer patients and MS varies widely among them. This updated GI-GPA index improves our ability to estimate survival for these patients and will be useful for therapy selection, end-of-life decision-making and stratification for future clinical trials. UBVRIz Light Curves of 51 Type II Supernovae
We present a compilation of UBV RIz light curves of 51 type II supernovae
discovered during the course of four different surveys during 1986 to 2003: the
Cerro Tololo Supernova Survey, the Calan/Tololo Supernova Program (C&T), the
Supernova Optical and Infrared Survey (SOIRS), and the Carnegie Type II
Supernova Survey (CATS). The photometry is based on template-subtracted images
to eliminate any potential host galaxy light contamination, and calibrated from
foreground stars. This work presents these photometric data, studies the color
evolution using different bands, and explores the relation between the
magnitude at maximum brightness and the brightness decline parameter (s) from
maximum light through the end of the recombination phase. This parameter is
found to be shallower for redder bands and appears to have the best correlation
in the B band. In addition, it also correlates with the plateau duration, being
