    Postwar recomposition: Warsaw.

    Get PDF
The liberation of Warsaw from the yoke, in one hand, of Nazi´s occupation and in the other one, of the Soviet allied siege, in the year 1945, entailed a process of rapid recomposition of the city. The inheritance during years was fulminated in five years causing the social collapse by the urban disidentification of the inhabitants. After the catastrophic destruction of the emblematic monuments and buildings of its historic center, the situation was addressed through three methodologies: historical, renovating and innovative. Therefore, those urban processes that followed the lines that the memory had drawn for them were used to carry out an involutive and regressive interpretation, in the historical recomposition of fragments, monumental pieces and embers of the ruins, with references to the value of its memory, of its identity, reworking the same historicist discourse. Under the command of Reconstruction´s Office for Warsaw Capital, and forming a multidisciplinary team led by the conservative Jan Zachwatowicz, there were discussions on how to address the reconstruction and reconfiguration of the damaged urban center. To this end, the intervention showed a green ring around the old urban center, founding the basis for the implantation and integration of the projects bordering the area and its traces, many of them disconnected from the historicist, eclectic and fragmentary drawing of the compact prewar urban mesh. Supported by emblematic actions on patrimonial elements and infrastructures, a city was conceived behind the scenes during the Nazi domination, which was later diverted to the influence of a socialist political ideology whose future would mark the relationship between the city center and the perfipherical areas.

Optimal Microgrid Topology Design and Siting of Distributed Generation Sources Using a Multi-Objective Substrate Layer Coral Reefs Optimization Algorithm

    Get PDF
n this work, a problem of optimal placement of renewable generation and topology design for a Microgrid (MG) is tackled. The problem consists of determining the MG nodes where renewable energy generators must be optimally located and also the optimization of the MG topology design, i.e., deciding which nodes should be connected and deciding the lines’ optimal cross-sectional areas (CSA). For this purpose, a multi-objective optimization with two conflicting objectives has been used, utilizing the cost of the lines, C, higher as the lines’ CSA increases, and the MG energy losses, E, lower as the lines’ CSA increases. To characterize generators and loads connected to the nodes, on-site monitored annual energy generation and consumption profiles have been considered. Optimization has been carried out by using a novel multi-objective algorithm, the Multi-objective Substrate Layers Coral Reefs Optimization algorithm (Mo-SL-CRO). The performance of the proposed approach has been tested in a realistic simulation of a MG with 12 nodes, considering photovoltaic generators and micro-wind turbines as renewable energy generators, as well as the consumption loads from different commercial and industrial sites. We show that the proposed Mo-SL-CRO is able to solve the problem providing good solutions, better than other well-known multi-objective optimization techniques, such as NSGA-II or multi-objective Harmony Search algorithm. This research was partially funded by Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad, project number TIN2017-85887-C2-1-P and TIN2017-85887-C2-2-P, and by the Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid, project number S2013ICE-2933_02

Systematic Review of the Relationship between Couple Dyadic Adjustment and Family Health

The importance of family functioning in the development of child and adult psychopathology has been widely studied. However, the relationship between partners’ adjustment and family health is less studied. This paper aims to describe and summarize research that analyzes the relationship between partners’ adjustment and family health. A systematic review was conducted in the PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, Lilacs, Psicodoc, Cinahl, and Jstor databases. Inclusion criteria were as follows: articles published from 2012 to 2019 in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. Data were extracted and organized according to the family health model: family climate, integrity, functioning, and coping. Initially, 835 references were identified, and 24 articles were assessed for quality appraisal. Finally, 20 publications were selected. Results showed that couple adjustment was an important factor that triggered the emotional climate of the family, was positively intercorrelated to parenting alliance or coparenting, and contributed to family efficacy and help when facing stressful life events. Findings revealed a consensus about the relationship between couple dyadic adjustment and family health. The results could orientate interventions to promote well-being and to increase quality of life and family strength. Health professionals should thoroughly study couple relationships to identify risk factors, assess family skills, and promote family health

Full wave modelling of hts dual mode patch filters and staggered coupled-line filters

    Get PDF
In order to obtain high-power handling, dual-mode patch HTS filters have been analyzed through Green's function and desegmentation techniques. A precise circuit model has been obtained and applied to the filter design process, and useful design curves relating filter parameters and physical dimensions of the square patch have been plotted. Several designs have been made using them and then optimized with the Method of Moments in the Spectral Domain. For higher order circuits, staggered coupled-line HTS filters have been considered. The designs have been made using the method of moments to compute the coupling capacitances, and then optimized with the Method of Moments in the Spectral Domain. One dual-mode patch filter and one staggered coupled-line filter have been fabricated on a YBCO film. Measurements agree well with simulationsPeer Reviewe

Case Studies As Practical Teaching In The New Marketing Courses

The European Higher Education Area is assuming a change in the teaching-learning of all European universities. The area of Marketing, traditionally characterized by being at the forefront in terms of educational innovation, faces the challenge of finding new tools to facilitate the work of students by encouraging their involvement in the acquisition of new skills. This paper analyzes the capacity that the development of case studies has to develop skills and competencies by the students, which are defendants in the framework of the European Higher Education Area to suit the environment established in the labor market. To this end, it is analyzed the experience and the main conclusions of the practices carried out at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, with the participation of student groups at an international conference aimed at developing teaching cases in public and nonprofit marketing
