    Cultivation of the microalga, Chlorella pyrenoidosa, in biogas wastewater

    Biogas wastewater is always a problem as a result of its extremely high concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus, which is the main reason for the eutrophication of the surrounding water. The microalga, Chlorella pyrenoidosa, can utilize the nitrogen and phosphorus in wastewater for its growth. Therefore, the microalga was introduced to be cultivated in the biogas wastewater, which could not only bioremediate the wastewater, but also produce plenty of the microalga biomass that could be used for the exploitation of fertilizers, feed additives and biofuels. This study showed that the microalga, C. pyrenoidosa could grow well in the biogas wastewater under optimal condition: initial cell density of 0.15 (OD680), pH 8 and illumination intensity of 10000 LX. Under the optimal condition, the dry cell weight of the microalgae reached 0.1 g/L after cultivation in the wastewater for fourteen (14) days; in the meantime, the microalga also removed 71.8% of phosphorus, 100% of ammoniacal nitrogen (NH4+-N), 52.8% of nitrate nitrogen (NO3-N) and 23.0% of nitrite nitrogen (NO2-N) from the biogas wastewater, suggesting that the cultivation of C. pyrenoidosa in biogas wastewater would be efficient for the treatment of wastewater.     Effect of Hydrothermal Treatment Temperature on the Properties of Sewage Sludge Derived Solid Fuel

    High moisture content along with poor dewaterability are the main challenges for sewage sludge treatment and utilization. In this study, the effect of hydrothermal treatment at various temperature (120-200 ˚C) on the properties of sewage sludge derived solid fuel was investigated in the terms of mechanical dewatering character, drying character, calorific value and heavy metal distribution. Hydrothermal treatment (HT) followed by dewatering process significantly reduced moisture content and improved calorific value of sewage sludge with the optimum condition obtained at 140˚C. No significant alteration of drying characteristic was produced by HT. Heavy metal enrichment in solid particle was found after HT that highlighted the importance of further study regarding heavy metal behavior during combustion. However, it also implied the potential application of HT on sewage sludge for heavy metal removal from wastewater

    Higher-order multipole amplitude measurement in ψ(2S)γχc2\psi(2S)\to\gamma\chi_{c2}

    Using 106×106106\times10^6 ψ(2S)\psi(2S) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, the higher-order multipole amplitudes in the radiative transition ψ(2S)γχc2γππ/γKK\psi(2S)\to\gamma\chi_{c2}\to\gamma\pi\pi/\gamma KK are measured. A fit to the χc2\chi_{c2} production and decay angular distributions yields M2=0.046±0.010±0.013M2=0.046\pm0.010\pm0.013 and E3=0.015±0.008±0.018E3=0.015\pm0.008\pm0.018, where the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. Here M2M2 denotes the normalized magnetic quadrupole amplitude and E3E3 the normalized electric octupole amplitude. This measurement shows evidence for the existence of the M2M2 signal with 4.4σ4.4\sigma statistical significance and is consistent with the charm quark having no anomalous magnetic moment.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure

    Precision measurement of the branching fractions of J/psi -> pi+pi-pi0 and psi' -> pi+pi-pi0

    We study the decays of the J/psi and psi' mesons to pi+pi-pi0 using data samples at both resonances collected with the BES III detector in 2009. We measure the corresponding branching fractions with unprecedented precision and provide mass spectra and Dalitz plots. The branching fraction for J/psi -> pi+pi-pi0 is determined to be (2.137 +- 0.004 (stat.) +0.058-0.056 (syst.) +0.027-0.026 (norm.))*10-2, and the branching fraction for psi' -> pi+pi-pi0 is measured as (2.14 +- 0.03 (stat.) +0.08-0.07 (syst.) +0.09-0.08 (norm.))*10-4. The J/psi decay is found to be dominated by an intermediate rho(770) state, whereas the psi' decay is dominated by di-pion masses around 2.2 GeV/c2, leading to strikingly different Dalitz distributions.Comment: 15 pages, 2 figure

    Search for C-parity violation in J/ψγγJ/ \psi \to \gamma\gamma and γϕ \gamma \phi

    Using 1.06×1081.06\times10^8 ψ(3686)\psi(3686) events recorded in e+ee^{+}e^{-} collisions at s=\sqrt{s}= 3.686 GeV with the BESIII at the BEPCII collider, we present searches for C-parity violation in J/ψγγJ/\psi \to \gamma\gamma and γϕ \gamma \phi decays via ψ(3686)J/ψπ+π\psi(3686) \to J/\psi \pi^+\pi^-. No significant signals are observed in either channel. Upper limits on the branching fractions are set to be B(J/ψγγ)<2.7×107\mathcal{B}(J/\psi \to \gamma\gamma) < 2.7 \times 10^{-7} and B(J/ψγϕ)<1.4×106\mathcal{B}(J/\psi \to \gamma\phi) < 1.4 \times 10^{-6} at the 90\% confidence level. The former is one order of magnitude more stringent than the previous upper limit, and the latter represents the first limit on this decay channel.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure

    An amplitude analysis of the π0π0\pi^{0}\pi^{0} system produced in radiative J/ψJ/\psi decays

    An amplitude analysis of the π0π0\pi^{0}\pi^{0} system produced in radiative J/ψJ/\psi decays is presented. In particular, a piecewise function that describes the dynamics of the π0π0\pi^{0}\pi^{0} system is determined as a function of Mπ0π0M_{\pi^{0}\pi^{0}} from an analysis of the (1.311±0.011)×109(1.311\pm0.011)\times10^{9} J/ψJ/\psi decays collected by the BESIII detector. The goal of this analysis is to provide a description of the scalar and tensor components of the π0π0\pi^0\pi^0 system while making minimal assumptions about the properties or number of poles in the amplitude. Such a model-independent description allows one to integrate these results with other related results from complementary reactions in the development of phenomenological models, which can then be used to directly fit experimental data to obtain parameters of interest. The branching fraction of J/ψγπ0π0J/\psi \to \gamma \pi^{0}\pi^{0} is determined to be (1.15±0.05)×103(1.15\pm0.05)\times10^{-3}, where the uncertainty is systematic only and the statistical uncertainty is negligible.Comment: Submitted to Phys.     Measurement of the leptonic decay width of J/ψJ/\psi using initial state radiation

    Using a data set of 2.93 fb1^{-1} taken at a center-of-mass energy of s\sqrt{s} = 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the process e+eJ/ψγμ+μγe^+e^-\rightarrow J/\psi\gamma\rightarrow \mu^+\mu^-\gamma and determine the product of the branching fraction and the electronic width BμμΓee=(333.4±2.5stat±4.4sys)\mathcal B_{\mu\mu}\cdot \Gamma_{ee} = (333.4 \pm 2.5_{\rm stat} \pm 4.4_{\rm sys})~eV. Using the earlier-published BESIII result for Bμμ\mathcal B_{\mu\mu} = (5.973 ±\pm 0.007stat_{\rm stat} ±\pm 0.037sys_{\rm sys})\%, we derive the J/ψJ/\psi electronic width Γee\Gamma_{ee}~= (5.58 ±\pm 0.05stat_{\rm stat} ±\pm 0.08sys_{\rm sys}) keV.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure

    Measurement of the branching fractions of Ds+ηXD_{s}^{+}\rightarrow \eta'X and Ds+ηρ+D_{s}^{+}\rightarrow \eta'\rho^{+} in e+eDs+Dse^+e^-\to D^+_{s}D^-_{s}

    We study Ds+D_{s}^{+} decays to final states involving the η\eta' with a 482\,pb1^{-1} data sample collected at s\sqrt{s} = 4.009\,GeV with the \mbox{BESIII} detector at the BEPCII collider. We measure the branching fractions B(Ds+ηX)\mathcal{B}(D^+_{s}\rightarrow \eta'X) = (8.8±\pm1.8±\pm0.5)%\% and B(Ds+ηρ+)\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+}\rightarrow \eta'\rho^{+}) = (5.8±1.4±0.45.8\pm1.4\pm0.4)%\% where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. In addition, we estimate an upper limit on the non-resonant branching ratio B(Ds+ηπ+π0)<5.1%\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+}\rightarrow \eta'\pi^+\pi^0)<5.1\% at the 90%\% confidence level. Our results are consistent with CLEO's recent measurements and help to resolve the disagreement between the theoretical prediction and CLEO's previous measurement of B(Ds+ηρ+)\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+}\rightarrow \eta'\rho^{+})

    Based on a sample of 1.31×1091.31 \times 10^9 J/ψJ/\psi events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, Dalitz plot analyses of selected 79,625 ηπ+ππ0\eta\rightarrow\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^0 events, 33,908 ηπ0π0π0\eta\rightarrow\pi^0\pi^0\pi^0 events and 1,888 ηπ0π0π0\eta^{\prime}\rightarrow\pi^0\pi^0\pi^0 events are performed. The measured matrix elements of ηπ+ππ0\eta\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0 are in reasonable agreement with previous measurements. The Dalitz plot slope parameters of ηπ0π0π0\eta\rightarrow\pi^0\pi^0\pi^0 and ηπ0π0π0\eta^{\prime}\rightarrow\pi^0\pi^0\pi^0 are determined to be 0.055±0.014±0.004-0.055 \pm 0.014 \pm 0.004 and 0.640±0.046±0.047-0.640 \pm 0.046 \pm 0.047, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Both values are consistent with previous measurements, while the precision of the latter one is improved by a factor of three. Final state interactions are found to have an important role in those decays.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figure

    Observation of the ψ(13D2)\psi(1^3D_2) state in e+eπ+πγχc1e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-\gamma\chi_{c1} at BESIII

    We report the observation of the X(3823)X(3823) in the process e+eπ+πX(3823)π+πγχc1e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-X(3823) \to \pi^+\pi^-\gamma\chi_{c1} with a statistical significance of 6.2σ6.2\sigma, in data samples at center-of-mass energies s=\sqrt{s}=4.230, 4.260, 4.360, 4.420 and 4.600~GeV collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII electron positron collider. The measured mass of the X(3823)X(3823) is (3821.7±1.3±0.7)(3821.7\pm 1.3\pm 0.7)~MeV/c2c^2, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic, and the width is less than 1616~MeV at the 90\% confidence level. The products of the Born cross sections for e+eπ+πX(3823)e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-X(3823) and the branching ratio B[X(3823)γχc1,c2]\mathcal{B}[X(3823)\to \gamma\chi_{c1,c2}] are also measured. These measurements are in good agreement with the assignment of the X(3823)X(3823) as the ψ(13D2)\psi(1^3D_2) charmonium state.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, version to appear in Phys. Rev. Let
